It would make sense if Jacob is Sayid, maybe he just needed a body to take over like the MIB? Boone said Shannon was in Australia, I never liked the twat anyway. Could be, the BR was a slave ship.
I read an article that stated that she was meant to be in the episode however the actress was busy so they changed the story to accomidate.
Jacob isn't possessing Sayid's body any more than the MiB possessed John. He just took John's form. Also -- anyone notice that just before Sayid awoke, the dirty water had again become clean? We are dealing with alternate timelines playing out at the same time.
great... another reason to rewatch the episode. parallel universe, just like Fringe. Wonder if anyone will jump between the two?
I couldn't tell if the water had turned clear. I was looking too. Maybe I just missed it. I too liked the conversion John and Jack had. I'm thinking the story might spin to they all end up on a plane together again. Jack to retrieve his dad; Locke for the same reason he went to Australia; Kate to escape; Hurley to just go and spend money or Sawyer talking him into going to invest something. EDIT: And Sayid to find his girl.
When MIB, in the form of Locke, told Ben that he wanted to go home, I took it as something completely different than the heaven/hell comparison. Originally, wasn't the temple the home of/protected by the Smoke Monster when Jin met up with Rousseau's team and when Ben met face-to-face with Smokey (who eventually took the form of Alex)? It would fit in that when the Japanese dude and translator found out from Hurley that Jacob died, they went into a frenzy by sending up flairs and using ash to protect the temple by "keeping him out." Maybe I'm missing something. Just a thought.
Paradise Lost isn't about the devil trying to reclaim his place in heaven; it's basically about the devil sneaking into Eden, transforming into the snake and tempting Adam and Eve into eating the fruit, thus causing them to be exiled. It's not the devil who loses paradise - it's Adam and Eve. That said and after having just watched the first two episodes, I'd wager the guess that "Evil Locke" isn't really the evil guy. My money is on Jacob.
that's an interesting thought... perhaps why he couldn't kill Jacob himself? But then he seems to be able to kill everyone else.
Except wasn't smokey at the temple when Ben saw his daughter. That was recent in the time line. Also if jacob ran the others why then did the others control the monster and about the spring remember when we saw ben call it that there was a plug and water. Wonder if the two are connected.
Didn't Jacob surround his hut with the same black powder the new others did in yesterday's episode? So it seems that "Evil Locke" could actually kill Jacob but Jacob took some sort of precautions.
But when Jacob possessed Christian's body, the body had disappeared from the coffin. I think Jacob is fundamentally different from the MIB.
I do not know if that means that he could kill Jacob, however it could mean he could destroy his cabin. Or maybe Jacob is a 2nd black smoke monster and is also trapped by the smoke
I understand that, but how did them never crashing change what happen to Shannon. They were suppose to go to the point before they crashed.
jacob's cabin still has many explanations: we really don't know WHO lived in the hut, jacob or MIB, and we don't know if the ash was meant to keep said person in, or the opposite one out, or just to keep them away from each other. each scenario is possible, with different explanations also, as to the end of the show, i can't imagine the end of the series being that everything is 'back to the way it was'- the whole point of this series as we've been told by TPTB is to see the character development and drive. if everything resets, the entire 6 seasons of learning and changing will have meant nothing, everyone will be back to their bad ways (charlie on drugs, jack a drunk, jin an a-hole to sun, sun scared, sawyer a con-man, etc etc). if they reset everything, all their talk about watching lost for the characters is BS. However, the show could end with a reset if they come to really stress that human nature cannot be changed, it is what it is. then i could see them coming back to this 'normal' timeline as the ending come may. we see them all decide to give up everything they learned and experienced for the chance to go home and be like they were, full well knowing they'll be worse off for it. then again, the above scenario could have just been at the end of this past season, because really they already made that decision to give up everything they learned when they blew up the nuke.
Yeah, wtf is going with Christian... I'm not sure if it was the MIB or Jacob. Was Christian helping Sun at the same time Flocke was with Ben? Or did that happen before?
http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/02/02/lost-premiere-damon-carlton/?ew_packageID=20313460 Should help a bit... Or not.
I watched that scene 4 times and they never showed the water. So I'm not sure how clean the water is or isn't... Not sure how anyone else can either. The only thing you see is light reflecting from the water onto the wall. Anyone watch Jimmy Kimmel? When Darlton was asked if Sayid was now Jacob, Darlton said no, but he's inhabited by something. Who wants to bet that Sayid is now John Locke.... Calling it now.
Great read about the LA X episode... http://darkufo.blogspot.com/2010/02/things-i-noticed-la-x-by-vozzek69.html
That's what Mrs. Z. thought as well. That would explain why it was so important for Sayid to live. I will go back and watch the scene to get a time index, but I'm positive we got a glimpse of clean water.
And the water was dirty because Jacob had died. Jacob loopholed into Sayed and the water is clear again. Makes sense. Any thoughts otherwise are wrong.
Producers say otherwise. Jacob never had a loophole, the M.I.B. did and it was to get Ben to kill Jacob (as Ben said). I do like the Vozzek guy, but sometimes he is really off the mark. There's a few things he said in that recap that were beyond dumb. Rose and Bernard don't remember anything more than anyone else. It's Lost. 99% of the **** that takes place on the show is impossible. Why did Jacob save Locke's life? Jacob knows everything and he must of known that the M.I.B. wanted to use John as a disguise. Also, Jacob had Nadia killed and then had Illana kidnap his *** and force him back to the island. Why? Clearly he knew Sayid needed to be back. For what though? Johnny Boy. Also, think about the way Sayid was killed. The others drowned his ***. Ben strangled Locke. What did Sayid do when he woke up? Gasped for breath. Now, I may be reading to much into that (since Sayid was drowned afterall), but that's an interesting coincidence. Combine that with Darlton's Jimmy Kimmel appearance and I think we've got our man John Locke back. People have been predicting Sayid's death for awhile now. He story arc has run it's course in the original (2004-2007-1977-2007) timeline. What's left for him? All he does is ***** and moan like his buddy Jack. How badass would Locke be in Sayid's body? Man can whoop some serious *** now.
http://www.docarzt.com/lost/the-off...turns-damon-and-carlton-explain-it-all-not/1/ Producers podcast. Interesting comments -LA X could mean anything. LA X could mean the X means negation, LA typo X, etc... -Flashes are flash sideways means two distinct timelines (parallel timelines) both timelines exist and both are real (might reconcile in some way) -People on the plane who weren't on before and people who were on before but aren't on now because things have changed in the new timeline. They discuss the butterfly effect. Basics are the same (Jack is still a doctor, Kate is still a fugative, etc...). Normal viewers can watch the new timeline and accept them as they're (like new flash backs). Us Hardcore fans can analyze the differences between the flashbacks and the new flash sideways). -Next episode is what Kate does, a spin off of another episode title "what Kate did". Note: ****! -We will learn about Sayid in Kate's episode. What are the consequences of Sayid being back and being put in that dirty water. Note: Damn, not hints that Sayid is Locke... Maybe I'm wrong... Hope not. -Walt kills animals. Explaining how Walt attracts birds into windows is very midiclorian (star wars reference, they hate how GL tried to explain the force scientifically). -The Numbers do not correspond to a date. -Adam and Eve will be revealed later on -Hurley didn't pay Walt the $83,000 for losing in backgammon games -It was a happy coincidence that Lost aired Feb. 2, groundhog day. -Damon and Carlton met at disneyland before ever working together and becoming friends. They find it interesting how people cross paths in real life and that people crossing paths in each others lives on the show isn't contrived as some think. (cool story)
Oh, and one more thing. Remember Locke's conversation with Jack about his fathers missing coffin. He told Jack the airline didn't lose him, just his body... huh?! huh?! If Sayid isn't John Locke I'm going to be pissed.
Here it is, at 34:08, right after the beginning of the last segment. Compare this to about 10 minutes earlier in the episode, when the water is first discovered to be fouled.
If Sayid is John Locke I am going to be pissed. I love Sayid. I do not think that bold part has anything to do with the other timeline
ug, I missed that this was moved to a different forum! oh well. you guys covered most of everything already.
Either do I, but it might be a hint. I'm 50/50 on Locke inhabiting Sayid. I think it would be cool and think it's in the realm of possibility for the producers to do, but who knows.
