This is an interesting trade.. a couple of years ago Trufant was IIRC their franchise tag designee. Now, he's being "let go" for a mid third. I like this trade for SF more than Seattle. Trufant only has a 1m cap number as well. Alen I'm sure has a very valid reason for "letting" MT go for a third.

This is IMO a steal for the Raiders. I would have loved to have gotten involved in the Whitner sweepstakes. I would have offered more than a fourth. But obviously the Bills are dumping some salary here and may feel they have a better safety in Byrd.

Interesting deal for both teams... missing here is the salary number for Garrard. WHich was $5.475m. It is a good deal for the Raiders because they upgrade the QB position and can now release Russell. The Jags get to free up cap space but now must find their qb... might I remind them that Tyler Thigpen is available.

This is an absolute steal for the Bills.. sorry E... had I gotten a hold of you earlier on Avery perhaps I could have saved you from this one. As I was going to put together a nice package for him. Bills load up with a qb who can play now (although pay attention, because he won't be playing for long behind their OL), a solid young receiver whom I like a lot and a very high draft pick at the top of the second round. Take out Bulger and the Bills still win in this trade.

Ah yes.. this was the theft of my Addai for Ricky trade. Oakland gets a big W here IMO. Good corner, good running back and a pro bowl center (even though he may only have a year or two left in the tank). I like Bush, the bruiser, but not at this price.

I like what KC did here, getting that third rounder (a high one) was nice. obviously Oak is high on Demorrio Williams while they restock their LB position as Morrison and Howard may be headed to FA...

I didnt need Avery as I picked up Knox...I did give up too much value for Evans. But I actually got him to use as trade bait...but Bulger was a cap move..and the pick is Cincy's pick....not the 1st of the round. Overall I think my trades have been very beneficial.

    Sorry again hoss :(

Still I needed to dump salary and the cap space was more valuable for what I want to accomplish.

Rhodes got benched late in the year for a few games and Jones is 32. I think part of this is how you set up for future years. Not saying I would have done that deal but I understated the value of a few players as well just to create the cap space and that was probably the logic here.

Yea my shock isn't on the Jones end. I understand that. But Rhodes is a top Safety in the league and as far as I can see didn't get benched at all. He missed 12 snaps total from week 16 to the Conference Championship. And had only two weeks he didn't start(12, and 13) at least according to PFF.

Hes a top safety 2-3 years ago. Not now. Now hes more interested in modeling like a damn diva. And PFF is definitely off on some of their stats. Living in NY I have the unfortunate privalege of getting stuck watching the jets on too many sundays.

    MY thoughts on the trades.

Bengals win the San Fran trade IMO

Oakland Robs buffalo of Donte Whitner

    Buffalo Robs St. Louis

    Miami robs the Bucs

Damn the Bengals are cleaning house.

Dolphins once again get a great deal

I like that trade for the Rams trade 1 player and get 3 starters in return.

Pretty good value I guess for that number 1 pick then blow it on Mike Vick.

Steelers made out pretty well on that trade though why they want Gholston

    Cleveland steals Mark Sanchez.

Pretty shocked at some of the trades.

    Good way or bad way?

I know we've lost a few players, but we've pretty much replaced them with guys with like equal or more.

As far as the San Fran trade it's pretty even. Benson is the wildcard, and IMO he's a one year wonder. I dont trust him to keep producing.

    Yawn

people are shocked at trades, wow, i am so befuddled.

so we have real life options avail like restructuring and renegotiating? good to know.

i am pretty shocked that so called "experts" cant determine reasoning behind deals.

Sanchez was part of a bigger picture. would i have liked more? yes and even had a confirmed deal for a 1st, but then it waas reneged. had to get rid of scott n his 7.5 mil cap. as well as w/ roeth sanchez 2.545 was cap i couldnt afford. he came up on scott i came down on sanchez.

look at me, explaining my deal as if the opinnion was an expert one or one that i am required to answer.

There are two dynamics at work here... one, the quick judgement on each trade, which does happen and it's the easiest to make. I've made a couple of comments on some trades and left the rest of them alone. Am I an expert?... but I have my reasons for not commenting on all trades because I don't want to burn any bridges with any of you, it's just a game... and then two, when all is said and done, we'll each be judged on our complete body of work and then we'll see. You have a plan, I'm glad that you do, I'm glad that you took on the Jets and I know it wasn't easy... and we'll see what happens at the end.

i hear ya. yeah i knew when made thhe deals i was understating values somewhat. combo of cap hell, inexp doing this and getting caught by people offering/coming to me with offers that i accepted thinking deal was done and making another move based on that only to have a couple teams then back out. changed the dynamics and what I needed to do.

i also hurt myself w/ the roeth orig deal not knowing we were using real team picks.i tjought it was like fantasy where we all had same # picks 1 each rd, just used real order, my mistake, so i had already traded sanchez, so had to fix the Roeth deal, so i did, then the sanchez deal was reneged on.

so yeah. it is whole body of work, hopefully my plan works as intd it to, tho based on reality so far, it wont, but hopefully can keep it close

Meh, Zuttah has been a below-average guard. He's decent in pass pro but not very good at run blocking. And I need weapons on my team - using the picks from the Zuttah trade allowed me to trade for Jordy Nelson, who, while not an upper echelon WR, is still very good, and has been learning from two great players in Driver and Jennings.

    Definitely on that.

Re: speed bumps - Last year I was fortunate to work with VO but we still had some issues. Our plan was sometimes questioned by the both of us and we weren't always certain which direction to go. However, it all comes full circle in the end and works out, so don't stress too much. You'll do fine.

I'm working alone this year, my second year here, and it's definitely a bit more difficult. A lot of evaluating to do of players.

Also if I sent any of you an offer that you find insulting, please don't take it that way. We all have our own values and prices on players and they are giong to be different. I'm just trying to figure out where you stand on that player. My intentions are to make a fair and reasonable deal, not one that will rip you off. It's why I often end up in a discussion on the players strengths and weaknesses before I work anything out. I want your thoughts and then I'll let you know mine.
