http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/02/ricky-foley-could-be-the-new-cameron-wake/ I bring this up for a couple of reasons, the first being thePhins Draft Forum knew this cat would have some interest weeks before PFT would notice Secondly he is a good prospect who it would not surprise if he ended up in Miami for a tryout and could challenge Erik Walden right off the bat for Special teams duty. Thirdly, he is NOT "the new Cam Wake" but he was a decathlete in College and a highly successful, record setting, College Athlete, he does have upside right off the bat.
Alright for the true degenerat..err...football fan, here is Foley's college highlight reel: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lq84B0cCeI"]YouTube- Ricky Foley[/ame] No soundtrack, but for pete's sake it is a CIS highlight film, whaddaywant?
looks alright, i really liked some plays, but others i think he only made because of the talent level. has a nice initial punch but plays too high
Stiff a bit like Q Moses, he does have a nice burst and watching the CFL.ca highlights on utube and he can set the edge, or could in the CFL. Be interesting to see if he lands somewhere in the NFL.
Curiouser and Curiouser: Jets, Pats, Rams, Eagles and more teams next week, he clearly has peaked some interest among GM's, that and this is the slow time of the year for GMs so it costs them little to try him out,. But he would not be receiving 6 or more tryouts unless he is showing something. Iirc, Wake had 9 teams try him out and had 2 or 3 serious offers. What is somewhat of note is Rex Ryan was the Ravens DC when Foley was in their camp and he said Foley had good speed but was too raw. http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/...l?id=9289030b-48d6-489b-a353-a5b421293fc9&p=3
The Canadian College Football division (CIS) is a jr league, seriously. Foley was a sort of man against boys in that division which is why he looks like the second coming of Derrick Thomas, he is the fastest player on the field among some real plodding athletes. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVftkOiG_Ik"]YouTube- CFL Eastern Semi: B.C. 34, Hamilton 27 - November 15, 2009[/ame] At 1:10 and 1:50 and 2:50 Foley is #95. He can shed a blocker and has speed, not Wakelike speed, but not a T George type. BTW, I asked AdamCaplan about Foley trying out for the Eagles, he replied that he was a camp body that would give David Akers a rest.. Err...Akers is the kicker..
http://www.2minutestomidnightgreen.com/2010/02/eagles-work-out-cfl-standout-ricky.html There is a story in there about how information is disseminated about the NFL, one that is sort of funny, but AdamKaplann is on the Eagles beat and he did come through with some stuff about Foley. The Jest ended up signing: Foley, Purdum, and ex Phin camp body Ty bond all worked out for the Jest and only Purdum was signed.
http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/...n=Feed:+canwest/F260+(Vancouver+Sun+-+Sports) Jets, Pats, Rams, Seahawks, Chargers and Eagles, no Dolphins for Foley. 3 situations? I'd say Rams and Eagles top the list, the agent is blowing smoke if he is saying that only one team passed on him, if that were so he would have been signed already to at least a Futures contract.
Thought about that, but they have Crable and McKenzie, 3rd rd picks, who had ACL's injuries and just haven't played in NE, why bring in another LB/DE? Foley does bring ST value though.
Well, I'm not certain Ricky Foley is the next Cam Wake, but I do know he can party with Cam Wake: http://blog.seattlepi.com/football/archives/194782.asp Err.... Off the chain, blame it on Rio....
