Seems like nobody wants to take on his contract via trade.

Well, at least we know for sure how big of a priority OLB will be.

... We're not going to get anything for him? We're going to give into his tantrum?

God I hope this is not true, I really hoped our FO had a freaking pair and wouldn't give into his nonsense.

I just find it hard to believe that no one was interested in giving up anything for him, even a 7th rounder for christs sakes.

Hmm interesting. Was hoping to get some kind of trade value but I guess it's not happening.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the Dolphins will release Joey Porter on Friday.

Wish granted. Porter used radio row during Super Bowl week to vehemently express displeasure with his role, which declined in 2009 after a 2008 season in which he was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. The act was embarrassing to Dolphins, and arguably Porter himself. Porter, who went to high school in Bakersfield (CA), has said publicly that he'd like to play out west.

Would not be surprised in the least. If he's healthy, he can be effective.

He's def one of those guys who plays the best when they have something to prove.

We will find out pretty quickly if there was much interest.

That said, he's a declining player and a malcontent to boot. Sometimes it's worth it to rid yourself of that problem now. Players keep score of this stuff too. IMO the Dolphins handled it perfectly.

Porter didn't force his way out IMO. I think the decision to release him was probably made during the season. His comments in the media only accelerated the process.

    Personally, I'm glad he's gone.

With as thin as the FA market is this year, Porter is going to end up somewhere, there is only 1 Dumervil and he is a RFA, if you need a FA passrusher it is JP,JT or O-Gun the ex Phin.

This regime doesn't cave to trade demands. It sets an ugly precedent. I'm glad they just cut his *** TBH.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that the team "gave in" to his demands. I think the decision was made long before his tirades in the media. The only issue, I believe, was whether they could get anything for him. If that's true, then it would appear that the front office couldn't find any suitors so they just released him. I can't say that I blame any other teams though. I thought the odds of him being released versus traded were very high.

We crushed him in a game, and made him look real soft, so I wouldn't put much stock in Brandon's words about that.

I'm glad to be rid of him too... I just wish we wouldn't have just released him. I suppose the FO knows better than I do whether someone was interested, it just boggles my mind that no one was.

Now this clown is going to cash out on a payday. Did he deserve it via his talent, sure. Are there more deserving human beings out there? Tons.

with that being said, and his roster bonus was due 3/9.....FA start 3/5 they had 4 days to make a trade happen even if they didn't want to spend that 1.2 million on the roster bonus......they just still give up??

Well it makes room for my boy, who those 2 definitely didn't get along....

While Porter had nine sacks in 2009, beat writer Omar Kelly points out that he ranked 89th in the NFL in combined QB hurries and knockdowns.

His best fit is in Arizona, where Porter has history with the staff and pass-rush help is needed.----so if this is the case WHY DID THEY RELEASE HIM, AND NOT DANGLE HIM TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one was go to trade for him when his salary is 4.8 million for 2010, and he just lost money by being cut because he won't come close to 4.8 million when he signs his new contract.

Makes resigning JT more of a priority... For the experience alone! It will be nice not to here about Peazy anymore, too much of a "ME" guy. That's why the Steelers let him go...
