I'm not that sure that this chart will be followed this year. With all the underclassmen coming out, the values in the second to fourth rounds should be higher. In any case, a few had asked for the chart, and it is at least some kind of guideline for trade consideration.
That and each team has their own draft chart that they follow. Besides it's all subjective to who the team that is trading up is interested in getting. If they have a strong conviction on a guy, they'll do what it takes to get the deal done. I don't think that many GMs work the chart for all the things that us fans think they do....
The value of the chart (at least in the first round) has also been skewed this past decade by inflated rookie contracts. Draft picks are not nearly as valuable when there are prohibitive rookie costs attached to them. It's the primary reason the Jets were able to jump up to the #5 spot for relatively cheap. Should they eventually limit rookie contracts, then the value chart will probably go back to nearly what it once was.
I dont know how to read that thing, wish I could ha! Is it even say hypothetically the values of number 5 and 37 are greater than the value of 4th overall, you should consider doing it??
Yeah, it did not copy well, the spacing was lost. Go to the top left, you see #1. If you follow that column down, it goes to 32, the first round. The number next to that is the picks value. For example, next to #4 is 1800. Next to #5 is 1700. The next column starts with #33 and goes down to #64, the second round. Next to #37 is 530, the value of that pick.
right right so if the values added together are greater than a lesser pick, according to this chart you should roll with it?? how about players too, anything like Porter and a pick would be worth....?
Don't think it will be worth or used much this year considering the lack of a CBA and likely uncapped year. Thank you for posting it though, appreciate it!
The lack of a CBA, and the VERY LIKELY uncapped year, have little to do with the draft value chart. The draft is still what it is, and not affected.
this is primarily used as a guide, when those multi-draft pick trades are being considered, I dont think the uncapped year has anything to do with it...
Seeing that all of the teams use it, it probably isn't garbage...I also don't think it is the end all be all...but it isnt worthless...
That thing should be thrown in the bin now. Didn't Jimmy Johnson come up with this about 15 years ago? It doesn't take into account the ridiculous salaries that are needed at the top of round 1.
Or just knock the #1 to 2000, #2 to 1950, #3 to 1900 and then you might actually get teams wanting to trade up into the top 3 again.
MaddMatt, Hope ya don't mind bro, but I got bored again and threw this data into Excel. PS. Shouldn't this be in the NFL draft section?
Hell no, LS13. Yours is what I tried to post but could not. I tried to edit the spacing but, what comes up is what I thought I was posting with te spacing. Thanks for being bored. As to location, I would like to see your chart, salary info, tag's info, and qualifying offer info on the top of this board as quick reference for Dolphans sorting out this off season, rather than going to a different site or googleing. JMO.
I'm not even sure there would be many teams wanting a top pick for that or less. Thankfully, we got lucky with Long. He is actually very close to earning his paycheck. PS-I look forward to playing your team in the World Cup. I'm hoping to see one hell of a match.

Agree but, both are VG. I'll kill this thread so you can start a new one. Or, see if you can put it up top for reference.
My friend, I forgot MANY more idea's for threads than I post, and have NO INTEREST whatsoever in copying or doing anything else. Why are posters here so sensitive? It's good for the forum. Who cares whose name is on it? PUT IT UP!!!
It's not about being sensitive at all bro. I simply don't know enough about the topic or where you got your numbers to post it up. The first time someone asks me why is the 3rd pick in the second round worth 550 all I will be able to tell them is "Because MaddMatt said so" .
I'll cover. I enjoy "talking" a whole lot more than computer stuff. Hell, I don't even use the thanks, rep, avitars, pics, or any other bells and whistles here, don't see the need. Maybe later, you'll teach me, and me you on how to answer. Fair trade? Now, POST IT!!!
Sure thing. Is there a Link to where you got this Data? This way we could provide as much data as Possible in the first post reducing the need for such questions.
If ya google it, you'll find hundreds. They all say the same thing. We are not re-inventing, just posting.
