Looks like 2 more medals in the Super G for the USA....it will give them 20 medals and we are not have way through.....They had 25 4 years ago This is a great great Olympics for the American athletes.....maybe too good as no one will get all the endorsement money as they have too many winners....I wish Canada could have that problem
Man oh man....I've watched enough Bobsled and Luge and Skeleton to know after 3 runs if you sit in 2nd it is pretty much a 95% chance you medal.....So Canada sits 2nd and Hollingsworth falls all the way to 5th and out of the medals on her 4th run In the last Olympics the total medals were Germany 29 USA 25 Canada 24 So with the games being on home turf I was hoping we could finish top 2 and make a run at #1 Still have a week to go and most of our medals are suppose to come next week but with Hoolongsworth, Chan, the mens Ski team, Morrison all missing out when they were suppose to win medals we need a bunch of medals from non-medal hopes to overcome this
Well we had a non-medal hope who was .05 seconds off the bronze after 2 runs in the men and he gets disqualified for showing up late to his sled inspection....WTF??????????? We are assured a silver or maybe a gold in Skeleton by Montgomery
Gold it was! How cool was it seeing Montgomery walking up and down the streets, on his way to his interview, and sitting at his interview with CTV, drinking straight from a pitcher of beer the whole time priceless!
We raise them right in Manitoba Both Swiss teams pull out of 2 man bobsled....the A team had a concussion while the B team thought the track was too fast What a day for hockey tomm.....3 great great games...I say Canada, Russia and Finland win tomm
This should sum up the Olympics Top 5 finishes as of right now USA 31 Canada 24 The medal count though is USA 24 Canada 8 We have not been able to turn these 4th and 5th into medals as the Americans have Morrison, Morrison, Holligsworth, DelBosco, Chan, Osborne-Paradis, Hamelin and Roberge....These are 8 medals that were predicted that did not come on our way to 30...I believe we have 3 unexpected medals out of our 8 total...So we should have 13 medals so we are down 5 and hopefully we can turn this around Sad, sad, sad, news Joannie Rochette (Canadian chamion and medal hopeful in womens figure skating) mom died today of a heart attack.....she went to Vancouver to watch her kid in the Olympics and passed away....she announces she still will skate
Bro, I'm just waiting for US v Canada. And the Canada v UK curling match last night was great theatre!
2-1 USA up after 1st period....sure, both sides know this is the game of games for the Olympics. USA wants it too and means so much to them to pay back for Salt Lake silver.
18 shots in the first for Canada, 6 for the USA. Holy crap...if they keep this up, we're going to get swamped. The American defense is getting overwhelmed out there.
Great first period. Not sure how much longer we can hang with team Canada without getting more scoring opportunities (18 shots on goal by CAN, compared to 6 by USA). But, Miller looks solid, so who knows. U - S - A! U - S - A! U - S - A!
well, 2-2 now.....it will still be fun while it lasts.....see how long we can skate and keep as much pressure as possible on our scoring chances and anythign is possible. NHL vs. NHL so its not like Lake Placid and college kids vs. USSR....oh, wait, how did that work out?
USA up 3-2 end of 2nd......ok......just keep converting and tighten the D....if Goaltending holds up, we can do this....come on USA......give it your all, leave in on the ice as they like to say.
Wow! Another great period. Better than the first IMO. Very physical game, on both sides. And, psychologically, going into another break with the lead is a good thing. U - S - A! U - S - A! U - S - A!
Through 40 minutes, this is one of the best hockey games I've ever seen. Two teams just beating the holy **** out of each other and the refs swallowing their whistles for all but the most blatant cheating. And amazingly, this is playing RIGHT into Team USA's hands. The first period, 2-1 score or no, was marked by a huge difference in skill. But Canada seems determined to grind it out with the US, and that gap in skill is narrowing dramatically.
US gives up PP of its own with :06 before kill.....but still up 4-3 with 1:06 remaining....Canada is putting on huge pressure...... less than minute remains...come on USA.
USA Goal....with 44 sec remain...OH MY GOODNESS@!!!!!!~ (Empty netter on scramble.....woot) 5-3 lead USA
Wow....what a game...what a game...what a game......amazing for USA Hockey.....way to go USA...way to go. Miller in the pipes was CRAIG-esque
Part Deuce w/NHLers of course (and not medal game yet) 39 -18 (USSR vs. USA shots on goal 1980) 45 - 22 (CAN vs. USA shots on goal 2010)
Can't argue with that. If they had the Molson Three Stars, I think he'd get 1st star, Brian Rafalski 2nd and Eric Staal 3rd. You know who else impressed me? Patrick Kane. I never thought of him as a grinder, but he put his body out there and worked his *** off in this game. It didn't show up in the scoresheet, but it seemed like he was always making a play when he was on the ice. You know who didn't? Phil Kessel. Peter Chiarelli had to be laughing his *** off watching this game. Kessel was so out of place in a game this brutal and physical. It was like watching a ballet dancer in a football game. Brian Burke and Ron Wilson must have been thinking "we gave up 2 1sts, a 2nd and a whole bunch of money for this?!?" Ron Wilson has done a horrible job this year with the Maple Leafs, but I've got to give credit where it's due. He had a plan: muck it up, grind it out, force Canada to expend energy and get frustrated and respond with the physical play, and thus narrow the edge in skill, and then count on Ryan Miller to stand on his head. And by God, it worked like a charm.
Great game of hockey....Some people say this means nothing as we play Germany which should be an easy win....BUT because of this we play Russia in the quarter-finals...IMO these are the top 2 skilled teams so one of them is out....Not sure who the USA play in the quarters
If I'm reading the standings right, I think the USA would play the Belarus-Switzerland winner in the quarters if they get the #1 seed. If they have the #2 seed, probably Slovakia. Would much, much rather play Belarus/Switzerland, so hopefully Finland doesn't get 3 points tonight.
Looks right....this game has tons of attention from the USA media...hopefully it adds to the hockey audience....too bad they did not play it on NBC HD...hockey like most sports is so much better in HD 2 things the Canadians should do 1. Play Roberto 2. Play Luongo
dont matter at this point (we beat Canada baby - first time in bagillizion years).....play our game and leave it on the ice, and we can reach the finals again.
Congrats to the USA and the goalie who won the game for them.......that goalie being Brodeur. Miller played a heck of a game, but Canada outplayed the USA, plain and simple. 4 out of 5 times Canada wins that game. Bring on whoever you want, Germany, Russia, Sweeden, and hopefully the USA in the finals.
Really? I'm a Sabres fan (as well as a Hu rricanes fan) and I've seen Miller play much better than he did tonight. The way I saw it, Miller was leaving the crease more to try and be more aggressive as the USA's Defense was not really very good, normally with the Sabres he lays back further and can be dominant. Not Dominic Hasek dominant but still.
Any plan that counts on a goalie to stand on his head really isn't a bright plan. The USA were outplayed...great game plan...
