Indeed, and I think it's related to Ilana's claim that MiB is now "stuck" with his current incarnation -- he may become more and more Locke-like. Meanwhile, I absolutely love what they're doing with Sideways Locke's character, and Terry O'Quinn's portrayal last night had me tearing up, for reasons I imagine you can guess.
I wonder how much of Locke's personality he's assimilated. He's obviously gotten all of his memories... Is it possible Jack is the new Jacob and Locke will somehow be "reborn" into the new M.I.B.?
I think this could be the key to the whole thing... the more differences we notice between flash sideways and the "normal" losties on the island the more we can put it all together.
copied from another site I have made a few observations about the Cave. First the BIGGEST number I have seen is 313... so it is apparent that this list is huge. Also i notice that #40 is Mattingley. From Lostpedia: An Other wearing a United States Army jumpsuit bearing the name Mattingly was a member of the group of Others that included Charles Widmore and Cunningham. The group attacked Juliet and Sawyer in the jungle on the Island in 1954 and, armed with a machete, Mattingly was ordered by Widmore to cut off Juliet's hand. As he was about to do so, Locke attacked Mattingly with a rock. Mattingly recovered and was about to kill Juliet with the machete, when Locke hurled his knife into Mattingly's side. Mattingly collapsed and died. Locke then pulled the bloody knife out of Mattingly's dead body. So this means that this List isnt limited to the survivors of Oceanic 815 but it could go back all the way to the Black Rock!
in all seriousness though, i bet like some other mindnumblingly hard to access lost places (Hatch) that there's just a locked back door leading to the jungle
Claire.Is.Awesome. not much I didn't like about this episode. It had great action and some cool story. 'When did I have my appendix removed?' Is that a new tattoo on the inside of Jack's left arm?
Recap here: "108 -Wallace" Now who the hell is Wallace? " ......We're talking Homer and the Straw, Ken Griffey and his grotesquely swollen jaw" That was an awesome episode
I think the guy coming to the island has to be Widmore or Desmond. Either one would be great. Maybe Walt, but IDK.
for all that talk about Kate's name not being scribbled on the cave... I noticed this in the recap screenshots that FF posted Kate's name at point 51, and it's not crossed off
Can't see the image, but I heard that too. I did read it was crossed off... I'll have to watch the lighthouse scene again. The only real knock I have on this episode is the lighthouse itself. It's a deus ex machina at it's finest. The old "we weren't looking, I guess" was kind of lame. Although tptb are forgiven because of the cave scene. Good to see Adam and Eve are still in the story. Hurley's guess that they're "them" is probably a big hint they're not (since Hurley is the mouthpiece for the viewers). For all the images of light and dark (Locke in early season 1, just recently with the M.I.B. in the cave with Sawyer), it's important to remember that Adam and Eve were found with white and black stones in their hands (I think they were in their hands). I'm starting to like Jack again. It's been a while too. I think his character and storylines are getting better.
the numbers in the lighthouse didn't match the same names as the cave ceiling. Except for the regulars of course. I thought it was a good episode last night, the lighthouse scene was the best, found myself pausing and standing up next to my big screen to look at the numbers/names. So with Claire and Jin meeting up with Flocke but not Sawyer.... what happened to Sawyer? And Claire saying both Christian and Flocke told her her baby is at the temple... pretty safe to say that Flocke isn't a good guy at all. Jacob seems to be the hero again with MIB being the villain. I think it's cool that Hugo can see Jacob but I have to wonder if he has that ability, like the guy that speaks to dead people whose name I'm not remembering. Reyes can also speak to them, even though he was institutionalized because of it. I mean if Jacob wanted Jack to do what he did, why didn't he just tell him that? Because Jack can't see him, doesn't have the ability to. (edit... but he can see his father, hell I don't know). I liked that they went back to the cave from the first couple of seasons... IIRC, the stones were found inside one of the skeletons pockets.
Miles is the guy who can talk to dead people. I believe you're right, I think they found a white and a black rock on Adam and Eve at the cave.
Hugo was in the institution because he killed people by going out on a balcony. He couldn't handle the guilt. The power of Hugo is different than the power of Miles. Miles kind of hears echos from the dead in waves or something like that. He doesn't have conversations with them like Hugo does. edit: I forgot about the coming back. Still he institutionalized himself because of it.
Here's an intresting theory: The MiB can only turn into people that havent been buried. Yemi, Alex and Christian were never buried, and neither was Locke before the MiB assumed his identity.
Can someone please explain the whole Adam and Eve story for those of us who are old and can't remember?
In season 1, in an episode called White Rabbit, Jack is chasing what would seem to be his fathers Ghost around the island. Eventually Jack finds the caves during the hunt. Jack finds his dads coffin, fresh water, and two skeletons. Locke named them Adam and Eve. Jack said one was male and one was female. Each had a stone on them, one white and one dark.
Wasn't there also a scene in a cabin where someone (Locke) entered a cabin and spoke to a chair (with no one sitting it) and Claire was in that room (was she on a rocking chair?) ? Or did I imagine that? If that scene happened, then was John speaking to the MIB in that scene?
I think they were the protectors before MIB and Jacob. One to protect the island by force and the other to protect the island by "peace". Jacob heals, while MIB kills. I am also guessing they were friends before they made it to the island and that MIB blames Jacob for being stuck on the island and living forever. At least that is my theory right now.
like it... makes sense... and the island always needs candidates for replacement? More like a curse. The curse gets passed on to the next candidate if they are acceptable.
They have a Lazarus Pit. My guess is that something to do with him not aging. We do not know if he is immortal since we haven't seen him get injured in any way that is fatal and survive.
I just figured out the ending of lost! Okay so you all have noticed that the show has talked about baseball a lot. Season 1 I believe Jack talks about how the Red Sox will never win the World Series. A couple of seasons later you see the Red Sox win the World Series. This season you see the guy with the long hair playing with the baseball, and even in yesterdays episode you see jack telling his son he has cable so he can watch the Red Sox. Well a little known fact, but a Baseball has 108 stitches in it. Here is my theory, the "Candidates" are candidates for a baseball team, Good (New York Yankees) vs Evil (Boston Red Sox). The numbers, are there baseball numbers. The last episode will be the big game.
I got a funny feeling that the Cloverfield Monster will be killed by the crew of the Starship Enterprise in the last episode.
I'm waiting for Lost to merge with Flash Forward... have Locke be the mysterious dark figure at that baseball game caught on camera while everyone was "sleeping".... oh snap... baseball game...!!!
I love how the lighthouse was supposed to be turned to 108, and the button was supposed to be pressed every 108 minutes.
108 was also the heading Michael and Walt were told to take way back when as they left the island on that little boat.
