I've read that the NFL is thinking of updating their AFC and NFC Logo's and here is supposedly the final product. Update: It looks to be official. http://www.uniwatchblog.com/2010/03/02/but-i-absolutely-refuse-to-write-about-the-draft-caps/ Like: New AFC/NFC Trophies NFL using the 4 divisions in its AFC/NFC logo. Pre-Season logos Dislike: Playoff Logos look terrible Super Bowl logo The NFC and AFC logos are growing on me. Wish the AFC stars were on the outside, they look very out of place. Personally, i think the AFC looks nicer than the NFC. 4 stars seem to be too much for the NFC but i like the idea for each star representing a division
im not a fan of the new conference logos. all the rest is ok with me. the new playoff logos are different, but not bad. i think they coudl see another change before its final.
New works for me....per this NFL change, yes, I like everything new over old personally...new is must cleaner, tighter, and far more consistent look.
Personally I think everything they changed looks better than before, for the most part anyway. They made things bolder and simpler.
I'm not a huge fan of the new conference logos, but I *love* the new postseason logos. They really maximize on the iconic brand of the Lombardi trophy.
as far as the AFC vs. NFC conf....I always thought replacing the 3 on each side, and instead simply adding 3 stars across the top of the A would match the 3 down the middle of the N....I think 4 stars is overdoing it on both...but never understand the 6 stars for AFC vs. 3 stars for NFC in the past. Love the new AFC championship awards over the old ones...in big way....now its a perfect lead in to the iconic Lombardi as Dr. A.Z. says.
Rumor has it that the Dolphins will be the first team with the AFC Conference trophy. If this is true, and i am Miami, i put it right next to the Lombardi trophy they will get two weeks later...but thats just me
The six-star AFC logo was a nod to the old AFL logo, whose six stars stood for the original six franchises: Dallas, New York, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Meanwhile, the three stars in the NFC logo referenced the three divisions (East, West and Central) that made up the conference until realignment in 2001.
Thanks for posting this Jt. Overall a good change I think. I really like the new trophies, they are really sleek. I'm not feeling the new conference logos. They are just too boring now, and making the AFC logo the same as the NFC logo adds to that feeling.
I can get used to the new trophies. I do think they are "better", however I do think they could have done better. I do not think it is a good idea making them look like mini lombardi trophies. I do not like the AFC/NFC logos at all. The AFC looks unbalanced and the N is way too fat due to having four stars. So when I look at them they just look wrong. I really like the postseason logo changes.
Normally I dont care about stuff like this... but I really dont like the new AFC/NFC trophies. Some things you just shoudlnt change... trophies and awards shouldnt. The NHL's awards are so historic and symbolic because they haven't changed. Sure the Stanley Cup has gotten larger, and now that its at its max size, the names change on it year after year, but... big deal. The trophy itself is intact. The history of the sport, and its awards should stay the same. Thats what makes them unique.
I see where you're coming from but I like the new trophies. I like how the made them similar to the Lombardi trophy in much smaller form.
I do not think they were iconic. I just think they should be done in a way that makes winning the conference championship look like a huge accomplishment and not just a lesser superbowl trophy. Maybe if they added wings and a racing stripe.
