So what do you think? Do you think he will survive in the NFL?

    Honestly 7171?

A lot of hype because he makes the NFL look good for having a prospect who is a Rhodes Scholar, he is a 4th rd or later type of player who probably benefitted too much for sitting out a year.

He was sliding before he went to the UK last yr.

I do like him though, and depending how quickly his instincts develop is who quickly he can make a name for himself..

I saw the segment and, well, Billick (as much as I hate him) says he is too intellectual and analytical which he believes may limit Rolle's ability to think instinctively on the football field.

I really can't comment on that but to a non-psychiatrist like myself it kind of makes sense.

    Just throwing that out there.

So.....he's too SMART to play football really well? That's a new one.

I'd say he could be pretty good if he wanted to be, but it's unlikely he'd have a very long career since he's prolly smart enough to walk away before he worried about his future doe to physical problems.

Technically, yes. And why is that such a stretch of the imagination when considering instincts (coachable) vs. analysis?

Zach Thomas was a great player because he assessed each play "before" the snap, and then acted on instincts after the snaps.

The argument is that Rolle may never have the heightened instincts based on coachable reactions due to systems and assignments as play goes on. The fear is he will "think" too much about what to do.

Well, if Rolle "Wants to" he certainly can play in the NFL, there have been far less talented players make it.

As for instinct development...the more prepared then the more instinctual a player will be..it's not building space shuttles out of beer cans after all.

    Billick, not Bellicheat.

Padre, yeah, I have to believe you but Billick does raise a point that the human psyche may agree with. Like I said, I'm not entirely sure. But I can tell you that half a second in the NFL can be the difference between an INT and blown coverage for a FS in the NFL.

I said, Bellicheat drafts, based on getting Billick to put the smokescreen out there.

I personally think that Myron Rolle will be successful in the NFL. I am reminded of two people when of this kid: Peyton Manning and Zach Thomas. Obviously these are two different people but I would like to explain why I am saying this.

Even though they have not been known as scholars, both are very smart and have great instincts. Peyton and Zach both have the innate ability to read and react to a defense or offense. Zach wasn't known for his speed but he was able to get in the film room and study your every move. By gameday he knew what you going to do before you did it. He knew it so well that when the ball was snapped, 9 times out 10 he was at the ball and took out the ballcarrier or quarterback. Now to me, that is both intelligence and instincts, which he did his entire career. Peyton could do it a different way. Like Zach he studies like nobody's business everything you do. Then on gameday, he could pick apart a defense like no one else can.

Which brings me to back Myron Rolle. Yes he is smart and all of that but I think he has something special within him that will translate on the field. First, which is obvious, he is going to study. Whoever gets him is going to get a player who will know the playbook inside and out and will learn to know every single offense out there. He could apply his intelligence and learn a player or a team's tendencies and take advantage of them without being tricked or deceived (like in a play-action fake). I think he wouldn't overreact under pressure or in pressure situations because of his studying. Then because of all of that, he could use his instincts to play the game. He would use his mind to learn those things and let his instincts take over.

Basically what I am saying is that Rolle will be a successful player in this league for as long as he wants to play. Whoever gets him won't regret it.
