I still think it's unlikely we get Rolle. Would love to have Atogwe. Dude's a playmaker.

I don't like Rolle, Otogwe, or Gibril. They can all hit the bricks.

My guess is he heard it from a "League Source". Anything that's whispered in the ****ter or hallway of a team office is reported these days.

Whatever the FO thinks the Rams won't match if they throw in a poison pill. Something in the 8-10 mill a year over five or six years, I think.

What? I can understand Rolle as he's average in coverage, but you don't like Atogwe? The guy is great in coverage and is a playmaker.

Nothing. The rams only have the right to match and then receive nothing if they dont.

Can someone critique his game? Is he a box safety or a coverage guy?

In anycase, my feeling is he is sure to stay with the Rams. He is an RFA and the Rams can match any offer. They tendered him low to encourage teams to make an offer to get a gauge on his market value - and then match that offer. Apparantly they have been trying to negotiate a long term deal with him since LAST season but couldnt agree on his true value so they are allowing third parties to help settle the debate.

5 yr deal w/ incentives. Like, um, 15 million roster bonus if he plays 8 or more games in the state of Missouri. That should do the trick :knucks:

There is only one thing that worries me about Atogwe and that is will Rams match. I think Miami most go after Clark & Sharper first, before they make ofer to Atogwe.

You can just put a poison pill in Atogwe's contract if they decide to go that route. Personally, I would prefer Ryan Clark at this point. We know he can hit, but he also has the ability to cover.

29 PD, 19 Int, 14 FF, and 3 sacks in five seasons. Those are Atogwe's stats. Now tell me you prefer Clark.

From scouring some Rams message boards it appears Atogwe may have a shoulder injury which may prevent him from passing a physical.

It doesn't matter, this isn't a trade. All indications are that he'll be ready by training camp.

But if you were running this team would you commit so much guaranteed money to a player who cannot pass a physical? I'm not sure I'd be that confident in my job security.

To be honest I still would. Atogwe's stats are definitely better than Clark but I've seen Atogwe's coverage ability questioned at times. Just making interceptions doesn't mean your great in coverage. I prefer to use profootballfocus.com, to get a more full view of the player. It's not the end all be all but still very in depth research.

For Atogwe? Yeah, I would. That's like asking if I'd give Ed Reed a crapload of money if he was dinged up.

PFF's metrics are questionable. They're good for a lark, but don't take them seriously. As for his coverage ability, he's on a defense where he's the only defensive back, it's not like he can be everywhere, although I'm sure he tries.
