On NFL Sirius today, Peter King gave his thoughts on the possibilities of Miami signing both Ryan Clark and Shaun Rogers. He intimated that Ryan Clark is a leader both on and off the field. King could not have had more regard for Clark, comparing his leadership qualities to Mel Blount. King had this to say: " have so much admiration on who he is as a person". He further elaborated by saying that Clark is a guy who players "listened to and want to follow". He also said that whoever signs Clark will be getting a bargain. His only concern is Clark's "wreckless abandon" style on the field. King also made a good point that the Steeler organization does not let good players go, so there must be a reason why the Steelers are allowing Clark to seek offers elsewhere. Could it be linked to his style of play and his body holding up? ________________________________________ King also had some interesting things to say regarding the Shaun Rogers situation. He noted that in the off-season, Mike Holmgren sought the advice of Bill Parcells regarding to Eric Mangini. Apparently, Parcells advised Holmgren to retain Mangini. How does this tie into the Shaun Rogers situation? Well, King thinks that because Holmgren's and Mangini's respect for Parcells, Rogers would not be traded to Miami if he is "damaged goods". They just have too much respect for Parcells to get one over on him like that. But here's the kicker, why would Cleveland trade a viable 3-4 DT to Miami; especially since it is a very difficult position to fill? It just does not make any sense. I have the feeling Shaun Rogers will not be in a Miami uniform next season.
Clark playing in Miami worries me. He has sickle cell disease. If he cant play in Denver due to the humidity how much can he take in Miami?
I really want Clark. You can never have too many leaders and he along with Henne, Penny, Dansby, and JT (if he is resigned) would be a great group of leaders for this team. You can never underestimate the value of leadership and I'm glad to see the front office knows that.
I didn't think it was due to humidity, but the high altitude/pressure? I don't think of Denver being a very humid place... But I don't know much about Sickle cell, so I'm just going off what I remember hearing
It's not the humidity at all its the altitude that's the risk with SCD. Here is a quote to help explain things.....
If the Dolphins do sign Clark, I am thinking it's more of a temporary fix. Maybe they see long-term potential in Clemons, or maybe they are eying a safety in the draft that has a lot of upside, but requires a couple years of development. As far as Shaun Rogers in a Dolphins uniform, my gut tells me its not a likely deal. But if they did invest in Shaun Rogers, I think it would be for similar reasons for which they signed Clark.
According to Wikipedia, Clark has the more benign sickle cell "trait", rather than the "disease". Talked about further here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Clark_(American_football) and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sickle_cell_trait
That's what I was thinking. I would love for this staff to take a stab at Myron Rolle and let him learn from an experienced vet.

If we got ROgers and Clark i would be really happy with the way our Defense would look next year all we would really need on defense after that would be OLB
We don't play at Denver again until 2015 (I could be wrong). And we don't have games scheduled for Wyoming or Montana anytime soon. So it shouldn't be a problem. Unless we face Denver on the road in the postseason, he should be fine.
Even if we did play Denver in the postseason in Denver i wouldnt have any problem with him sitting out the game i would rather him 15 games and part of the postseason then have gibril wilson 16 games and the whole postseason
