I would be interested to see the true Rolle numbers once the experts get their hands on the contract. Look at Peppers when it comes down to it the only thing he is really guaranteed is 2010 at 19.6 mil which is 100k less then carolina paid him when franchised. The Bears can cut him after 2010 and that is what they pay.
I must be old fashioned but that Dansby deal is a lot to pay for an ILB. But the debate is pointless now lets find three other linebackers because most of ours suck. We are 25% home free in the LB department.
i guess we will have to just agree to disagree on wilson costing us four football games on his own but agree the manning pick six did cost the Colts the SB. That being said I did say some pretty unfair things in my earlier post and i do apologize. That is not the way I want to roll here with fellow Dolphin fans. You are entitled to your opinion and I do respect it although I didn't really show it. I hope we can coexist here with good football discussions and no problems. Back to the safety topic there was a game against the Seahawks in '96 when FS gene atkins surrendered a 50 yard TD a 65 yard TD and an 80 yarder which eventually lost us the football game. To me that was the single worst showing by a Dolphin safety ever. The QB's name was John Friesz and atkins play was inexcusable. I'll never forget it. I was livid. I guess we can agree to be damn glad wilson is gone. Lets hope we address that position.
Would someone please explain to me how anyone can call the team with the second highest payroll in the NFL "cheap?" http://content.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=2009 In 2009 we paid our players a total of $30 million more than the Patriots paid theirs. What does that say about "smart" or "cheap?"
I agree, we are all fans and in the end are arguing fairly small issues because we're passionate about the fins. You should just be more careful about pulling out the "I was an athlete and therefore I understand football more than others on this board". There are some world class football experts in the Club level who have proven themselves year after year. You have to earn respect, not demand it. Keep making good quality posts then we'll believe that your opinion is top notch.
No worries man! Sorry for snapping at you as well! Passion about football can get the best out of fans for the same team! Isn't that Seattle game you talk about that put Joey Gallaway on the map? As for the safeties involved I will defer to your knowledge because I have no clue. I just remember Galloway killing us. To me the worst safety play was the horrible loss to JAx in the playoffs! Because Marrion was so good and the middle of our defense just blew chunks!
I think its more of the Phins looking at a player and putting what they believe is a fair market value price on them. Rolle is not an elite S, not by a long shot but because he was the top S in FA he got paid like one. I think the FO was willing to pay him as a FS in the top 10 in the league but not the best.
galloway got us for 51 and 65 brian blades hit us up for an 80 yarder friesz torching atkins that jags game should never be mentioned
Paying Karlos Dansby whatever necessary to have him lead this defense: SMART. Re-signing Chad Pennington: SMART. Not jacking up the offer for Antrel Rolle: SMART. Low balling Ryan Clarke: CHEAP. Re-signing Jason Ferguson: SMART. (fresh legs for second half of season, why not?) Not giving in to $7 million per season for Antonio Bryant: SMART. Not pursuing Jamal Williams: STUPID. Not pursuing O.J. Atogwe: STUPID. Not GOING HARD after Brandon Marshall: STUPID, IGNORANT, DELUSIONAL, & CHEAP. Playing it safe with Darren Sharper's injury situation, but sticking around: SMART. Oh, almost forgot one: Keeping Ted Ginn & telling Dolphins fans to stfu: SMART.
You know as soon as I sent the Jax comment it dawned on me I was salty a very painful wound. 2 reasons the embarrassment of the game and Jay Feidler!
Well at this point with the needs they have going into the draft they're going to need quite a few of last year's players to improve their performances. Ginn Jr. is one of those guys, Culver must start and play well (not a stretch), and Crowder must have a comeback year to 2008 standards. Just too many needs otherwise. backup ILB NT FS 1WR TE 3rdRB SOLB
