RIP, Merlin Olsen

A great defensive lineman and part of the Fearsome Foursome, an NFL legend.

 

yeah before my times...but was good man..look at his stats, and the docs on NFL Films....those guys were so tough back then

 

Wow...how sad. I had no idea he was even sick. He was a great player and broadcaster, but an even better person. Just a real class act. He will be missed for sure.

Yep, the Rams were my favorite team before the Phins came along. Roman Gabriel, Les Josephson, Merlin Olson, Rosey Grier and Deacon Jones were favorite players.

He was supposed to be a nice guy, but he was always very anti-Dolphins in his broadcasts. I used to get so mad at him and turn down the TV and listen to the radio.

 

I agree, good guy but anti-Dolphin.

But hey, I think most of the NFL is anti-dolphin. Perfection will always turns to envy, and severe envy eventually turns to jealousy and hate. Personally I'll take the hatred and perfection any day.

Ya, I know what you mean and I have seen it for a long time. Ever notice that most of the highlights of NFL teams getting burned have the Dolphins in them? Keep an eye out and you'll see what I mean.

Perfection must equal envy and hatred.

 

He was a gentleman and a class act ,a dying breed in broadcasting.
