We so badly need a true #1 WR it hurts.
Everyone knows it, especially our rivals.

The Parccells formula requires a top shelf TE, thats what we were missing last year more than a WR. Get a go to TE prospect and we're good. Pitta, Quarless, Gronkowski, Hernandez and Henne will be thrilled. We can address WR next year when the draft is loaded with superstars. Why waste a pick this year when you have four pro bowl potential receivers next year. This years draft is loaded with OLBs, NTs and TEs that just happen to be our need positions as well. Why would we spend our draft picks on weak positions like WR and try to force the pick

in this draft i think we should draft at least two, SOLB and WOLB. If we do that and still keep Taylor then I'm cool with it.

I would keep JT if financially possible and here are my reasons.....

    1) His skills have diminished but he is still a seasoned, above average player

    2) I would hate to go into the draft with this many holes at LB

    3) His opinion and intensity are well respected in the locker room and he is a role model

    4) It would also be good to see him retire a Dolphin

    .....................BUT..................................

    It's all about the dollars

I’ll be VERY disappointed if JT isn’t retained.

If you look at the money they pay for also rans, it’s a no brainer.

JT's is a consistent, intense player who is a good role model for all of the younger players on the team. Aside from agreeing on his contract I think 'Bang for the Buck' keeping him is a good move.

No...forcing the pick would be using a #12 on a ILB.......or reaching like hell for a NT like Williams or one of the many OLB's that are mostly late first rounders at best.

Also.....one of the main reasons to upgrade at WR is to help Henne progress in what is going to be a very crucial year. You can only expect so much of him with this very average group we have.

There's plenty of WR talent in this draft and there were a couple guys available in FA.

If we continue to ignore it and put it off for another day.....we're gonna pay for it dearly. If we continue with this same old out dated philosophy, the trifecta will be chased outta town like Cam Cameron.

This offense is IMO a solid #1 receiver away from being explosive.

Parcells doesnt do explosive on offense. He prefers explosive on defense. An OLB who's good for 15 sacks is explosive enough and more valuable than a WR who will touch the ball 6 to 8 times a game to Parcells. If we wanted a Colts or Saints offense we should have got Mike Martz to be our coach and let Parcells go somewhere else. If we fix our defense this year we can draft A.J. Green, Michael Floyd, Julio Jones or Jonathan Baldwin next year. One of them will be available when we pick (probably Baldwin or Jones). It will be the cherry on top so to speak.

I dont think we're drafting McClain now that we got Dansby but if we do its still a better and safer pick than Dez Bryant who's every scouting report has some scout laughing when he details the character concerns. Dan Williams or Cam Thomas is more important to us any receiver also. Our defense is predicated on a NT. You cant run a 3-4 without one and Soliai needs to rotate with someone. If you want to help Henne draft a TE. The TEs available in the 2nd round on are all better than their WR counterparts. Drafting a WR in the 2nd round on means you passed on a TE of superior talent.

Disagree with your doom and gloom. The way to beat teams like the Saints or Colts is not to outscore them in some shootout (we got the wrong QB for that) but to destroy their QBs and WRs. We got the beginnings of a dominant secondary and this year we get the players who can bring the heat and pain to the QBs.

Parcells has never been chased out of anywhere. You got a better chance of Gary Coleman winning an Oscar

Well then Parcells won't be doing any Super Bowls either....or even finishing ahead of the freakin Jets in the division for that matter.

In reality the problem isn't the philosophy......it's poor talent assessment and their half assed way of addressing our needs.

Given the past two off seasons, what makes you think we won't be once again addressing some of the very same positions next year?

When Dallas went 13-3 and Parcells was at the helm, that was an explosive offense. The most explosive offense in the NFC in 2007. So I'm not really sure where you're getting this Parcells doesn't do explosive theory. This team had T. Owens

When Bledsoe was his QB in NE, they threw more than any team in the league and put up a lot of points in the year they went to the SuperBowl. This team had Terry Glenn IIRC

And don't forget that once they took the handcuffs off Henne in the NE game, our Parcells team was not afraid to let a 1st year starter throw the ball 45 times a game.

That didn't work out too good for the Jets did it? Manning torched their #1 ranked Defense.

I agree that Parcells can open it up. New England is the best example to me. Thats why comparisons to Wannstedt by some others (they shall remain nameless) dont make sense. However TO wasnt his choice and neither was Glenn. So if we're talking about the draft, then I dont see him going after these types. Parcells goes after the Hartline and Turner types. Once his defense is built thenIreland can convince him to go WR. Until then I just dont see it

At least Gary Coleman stuck around until Willis and that little blonde chick were forced into rehab.

Drafting McClain after spending the majority of our FA money on Dansby, should get someone fired. It's bad enough we just made an ILB the most expensive LB in the league, now you want to take our #12 pick and use it as well on another non core player?

Or use it on a NT prospect that might not be any better than the one we're trying to develop?

Just because all this negative hype about Bryant and Marshall helps your case to ignore the WR position, doesn't mean it's all true or as bad as it seems. A lot of this stuff is probably being leaked by teams sitting at 15-25, hoping that Bryant will fall to them.

And I got news for ya, you don't shut down teams like the Saints and Colts.....you out score them. You don't need to build a Ravens 2000 defense, you just need a handful of opportunistic play makers. You combine that with the ability to score 30 plus and most any defense will be adequate

But why is it so hard to believe that Parcells has evolved along with the game?

I mean, this is the regime that used the #44 pick on Pat White. Never in a million years would you think Parcells would use a high 2nd on White with so many holes on Defense in '09 including CB, OLB, ILB, DT. But he did.

Well I'm just gonna have to disagree with your whole post here.

First of all, Sanchez had absolutely no fault in them losing that game.

Secondly, they were the #1 ranked Defense in the NFL and you're telling me their secondary and pass rush was no good. That doesn't even make sense. Their pass rush was very good. Just because they didn't have the high sack totals doesn't mean they didn't have countless QB pressures. They were constantly in the backfield.

Point being, you don't have the leagues best Defense when your pass rush AND secondary are weak. That's just impossible

whats the jesters priority this offseason. the secondary. why is that if they had a top five secondary? they had revis, that was their secondary. this offseason they are fixing what needed to be fixed

as for pass rush, they dont have anybody that brings the consistent pressure. its their scheme that brings pressure but also leaves them vulnerable. I live in New York and get to watch the Giants and Jets every week. For the amount of blitzes they were doing they had a putrid amount of sacks and pressures. The schemes are great the players not so much

    :lol::up:

I dont want McClain anymore. Get with the program man . I am back to the guy Ive wanted since October....Jerry Hughes. I'll take his double digit sacks from the weakside anyday. The only reason I wanted McClain over him was need. That need is no longer as pressing
I like Soliai but we need another NT. We cant go into the season with what we got. personally i'm rooting for cam thomas in the 2nd. that guy's the real deal imo and he can even get a pass rush which is just bonus imo. but if the choice is dez or williams i take williams in a heartbeat. you want to talk about core players. nothing gets more core than NT in a 3-4, other than maybe pass rushing OLB :shifty:

I'm the last guy who gets up in character concerns. I wanted Vontae last year and Legarrette Blount this year. But their character concerns were easily explained. Bryant's cause scouts to laugh when talking about them. thats not a whisper thats someone yelling red flag

[/QUOTE] you dont need to shut them down. you need to keep them under 24 points. ask the giants vs the patriots, ask the patriots vs the colts, ask the vikings defense against the saints offense (if it wasnt for the vikes offense turning it over every series the saints wouldve got blown out in that game

I dont believe that JT has the type of character to go to another team and chase a ring. I dont think he wants to win a ring not being a miami dolphin. I hope he resigns and plays his favorite spot.

JT's got a couple of quality seasons left, if he's going to get some crazy deal like 5+ mill a year from someone else he probably should leave but I think we should give him somewhere betweeen 4 and 6 mill for two years and both sides can live with that.

I think the backups will be Anderson, Groves, Torbor and a rookie.
