I keep watching video highlights of Spiller and if he is there at #12 he is very tempting. We don't have anyone who can take it to the house and make big plays like Spiller can. I know we really need help on defense but if you make your offense a lot better, then the defense gets to rest while Spiller keeps cranking out the first downs.
It's a good debate isn't it. So many people will be focusing on the defensive side of the ball many of these offensive stars could slide to lower rounds. Since everyone of our opponents are predicting us to jump at a NT, LB or WR with #12 this draft would really make heads spin. I don't know how realistic this is but it is a good post and a good debate.
I think a lot of this has to do with who gets taken before we pick. I know that's a simplistic answer but it is true. If we have five LB that we really like and all five are gone at #12 (god forbid) we might get a little creative and go on the offensive side of the ball
Suppose if Reggie Bush was coming out this year, I do not think you would be saying that. One can only say that now because Bush has had a few years in the league. Nothing against Spiller, but if I were to look at what Bush did (and how he did it) during his college career against Spiller's, I think it's a no-contest.
I'd say McCluster. Because McCluster would be a good KR/PR for us, do something for us in the Wildcat, and be a change of pace 3rd string lightning RB...all the while not costing us the #12 pick in the draft, which is what Spiller would cost. McCluster allows us to fill a need at #12 at another position of more dire need. Spiller would cost us the #12 'and' take away our ability to fill a more dire need at #12. So McCluster all the way.
