Antivirus Vista 2010 & Antimalware Doctor

These two random programs keep harassing me no matter what I do. I need help and urgent! Lol, seriously, this is harassment. I can't do anything without being prompt to upgrade to the full versions every 5 minutes or so. What can I do? There is seemingly no way to uninstall. OMG.

download spybot or adaware, and an anti spyware such as avg. Then I would recommend you restart in safe mode and scan. Might take awhile, but if nothings getting rid of it my suspicion is its loading on startup. You can also try downloading avast as it has a boot time scanner.

This is not a virus (though you may have one...but it's unrelated), it's malware. It's made to annoy you, and get you to buy their "anti-virus" protection which is totally bogus. You'll need to google steps on how to fix it, but a restore probably won't work on it (didn't on mine). Use spybot with caution...it tried to remove it and ruined my copy of windows. Get malware bytes (or something to that extent) it's free and built forthis kind of crap. I got this a few months ago, gave a half assed attempt at fixing it beocre I sis a fresh install of windows. It's in your registry files, so back important stuff up before going down this road...

Thanks guys, but nothing is working. I'm going to throw the Vaio in the lake and buy a macbook pro.

I can't even attempt a system restore because it doesn't work. **** Windows. Done with it.

Still ordering Macbook Pro just under a year after buying my Sony Vaio VGN-FW390. I think it's time.

UPDATE: I had the Malwarebyte installed already and it didn't work the first time, but I tried to scan it during safe mode as suggested by unlucky. I have not been harassed thus far since restart. Thanks to everybody. Back to illegal downloads... safe & sound... FEELS GOOD MAN.

The next time the fake Anti Virus Alerts pop up dont click on anything, even the X to close is fake. When it pops up do a ctrl-alt-del and open the Task Manager and End Task the Antivirus Alert

Macs are fantastic, and it is very easy to install Windows on them for those programs that aren't compatible with mac.

Malawaybytes worked well for me when I used Windows.

Yeah trick is to use your AV/Spyware killers in safe mode when something like that happens. Now that its gone, try and keep 1 anti virus and 1 anti spy/malware program updated so it can detect and kill this stuff before it gets installed. Ive got avast, and will be downloading spybot again, though I hear good things about malwarebytes.

AVG ive heard is getting rather bloated ala Norton.

MACs are not virus/malware proof, there are just less of them out there for MACs - still need to be careful.

update it an run it all the time. for prevention, i think spybot is the best.

i occasionally get those type of pop ups too, but they are never a problem.

currently not running a firewall. i have symantec endpoint from my school and it runs just fine. never hogs anything

Be careful of clicking on the free anti virus adware that are offered on some sites. They are one of the most popular methods to introduce malware into your PC.

    This program will eliminate malware.

I would also add the WOT add-on to your Firefox browser as it will warn you when you click on a dangerous add or spam site.

I've been a user for 2 weeks and I've learned that in the previous decade of computing I've wasted an enormous amount if time dealing with Windows and it's issues. I'm now in a position to live up the oath I made about a year ago....to NEVER give M$ another nickle for the rest of my life.

Been a Windows guy my whole life. Got a 13" Macbook Pro about 5 months ago and never looked back. As you use the thing you start to realize that this is how computers are supposed to work. There's VERY few things that I can't to.
