Michael Lombardi did a top ten draft on NFL Network

Hayden, Thomas, Pierre-Paul, Spiller and Bryant were nowhere to be found. Each of the leftovers are the best player at their position on Mike Mayock’s board. I’m sure Denver will scoop up one of them.

NT or best of the rest.

I think a LOT of great talent will be there at #12, but have a feeling that other teams may see a guy "they want" still on the board.

I see us trading back out of that spot. The talent will be very high at that spot, but pick #12 is out of the 'overpriced' rookie range of the top seven or so. That makes it a desirable spot to pick, but I don;t think any of the players there at 12 are strong enough cases for us to pick them over taking a person we could get at 17 or 19 or 22.

I expect a trade down to the mid-late first.

Sorry brother, but if we don't make a move for Marshall and then we then draft Dez at 12, I will puke.

This is why we'd be the dumbest team in the NFL if we go Dan Williams at #12.

Someone much better is guaranteed to be there. In fact, 3-5 much better prospects are. AT LEAST.

Dude, what makes you believe we will draft ANY WR with pick #12 if we won't trade pick #12 for one of the top 5 WR already playing in the NFL?
Doesn't make much sense, does it?

Not a chance, not gonna happen. Miami's answer to not having a number one receiver is to ignore it.

The difference between Marshall and Bryant -- aside from proven commodities -- is a history of violence, a rap sheet and $50 million.

    That's the argument anyway.

    Exactly.

Omar's scout source made a great point that Miami would rather spend that pick on a 3-down player. Makes sense. You can get NT's later.

I think they want a #1 on their terms.

They're not gonna do anything that they're unsure of or makes them uncomfortable. And I don't think they feel we're good enough yet to deal multiple picks like Baltimore could for Boldin.

I guess the argument is whether they're disciplined or hard-headed.

I guess that would be the only reason.
But wouldn't you still rather the very expensive proven stud or the expensive unknown?

The reason teams do not go after players like Marshall is not just because of the draft pick - it's also the huge contract that goes with it. It's like a double whammy. This is the Carl Pickens scenario all over again. Remember when JJ said he had no problem giving up the pick but the deal killer was the contract to go with it. In Marshall's case you add the "head case" aspect to the situation - not to mention likely one more incident before a lengthy suspension. And fans want to bring this to South Florida? What can possibly go wrong.

It has to make you wonder though if Marshall is a top 5 receiver then why haven't teams lined up with offers for him? Miami is not the only team in need of a #1 WR there are plenty of other teams who could use a top 5 receiver but they are hesitant to make an offer. Is it because of the contract he will require, the baggage he comes with or other issues? Its obvious Marshall has the talent and is still young so where is the risk and the questions? Just curious about the reasoning.

the real key for whether of not we go after Marshall is Nolen. He was there in Denver and knows the true scoop of what was going on. He can either veto and say we want no part of this guy or say he is an amazing player and the Denver coaching staff screwed Marshall.

I really hope Bryant isn't there at 12 because there's going to be a lot of upset fans when we don't take him if he's there. Parcells doesn't draft wide receivers in the first two rounds... never ever...

Well said. Pretty much sums it up IMO.

That's just it. If it were a slam dunk, it would be a done deal already. Be it by us or someone else.

Good point. I hadn't even connected the dots.

The #12 pick isn't really expensive though. Last year the #12 pick got a 5 yr $16.7M deal with an optional 6th year that costs roughly $5M. That's 6 years of service for about what it would cost for 2 years with Marshall. Not to mention the guaranteed money would be twice as much.

That doesn't even include the rap sheet Marshall has and video evidence of dogging (not only dogging it but being an ******* about it) it in camp when he was unhappy.

Also by trading not only an extremely high pick for a guy and giving him a huge contract there is no telling how he will react on and off the field. Perhaps he will slack off some now that he got his big pay day (the #12 pick would not be a "big" payday). Also, he's getting 150+ targets in Denver, and there is a very reasonable chance he'd not come close to that here. How would he take it if his numbers dipped?

Marshall is proven, but only proven in Denver. There is no more guarantee that he'd be an all-pro here than there is that Dez Bryant won't be the #1 WR we crave.

Just like he never drafts CBs in rd 1 or LTs etc, etc. Ireland runs the draft anyway, but citing history like "Bill's never drafted x before" is stupid. Things change.

Other than the money, you can say all the same things (about the baggage stuff) about Bryant. Only difference is Bryant hasn't proven he can be anything ni the NFL yet.
Look, I'm not advocating trading the 12th for Marshall. I don't want to do that. Nor do I want to draft Bryant with #12. I'm just saying if you were inclined to use the 12 pick on a WR I'd rather get the proven stud, who admittedly would cost more, over a college guy with baggage who hasn't played football in a year.

Really? Dez has been arrested numerous times? He's been suspended by the NFL? He's had to have surgery because of injuries sustained while roughhousing? There's video evidence of him being an ******* in camp and dogging it in drills because he's a little child and didn't get his way?

Guess you really do learn something new every day.

And Dez only missed 3 months. Let's not act like he's ****ing Mike Williams or Maurice Clarett here.

I don't have my hopes up, he'll probably be gone by #10. Had he not been suspended I'm sure he'd have been gone by #5 (he still might be).

And no, I don't know what you meant. There's no way someone can say "you can say all the same things (about the baggage stuff) about Bryant," and be able to prove that even being close to true. Bryant's baggage might not even exist for all anyone knows. Marshall's has been documented again and again though. And again and again and again.

He was suspended by the NCAA. Spin that anyway you want but facts are facts.
He was disciplined by OSU for being late on numerous occasions for team functions, including games. Maybe he grows out of that once he matures, or maybe not.
    He has baggage.
Doesn't matter anyway, neither guy is playing for the Dolphins anytime soon.

The reports are out there. Go look for them, they won't be hard to find. If you don't look or don't believe them, fair enough. I don't even know how I got dragged into a Dez Bryant fight, I don't even dislike the guy.
My orignial point was if I was gonna use the 12th pick on a WR, I'd rather use it on a proven stud.
I'm done talking about two guys who won't be Dolphins anyway.

The suspension was for lying even though what he did wasn't a violation. And the same coach who disciplined him also praised him later for maturing and being a great team mate. Those are the facts.

And if neither of those players play for the Dolphins anytime soon then the happiest people should be our opponents and one of the most disappointed should be Henne.

Brandon Marshall is a all pro wr who I wish Denver would sign longterm I think he's worth it. They make too much of his off the field stuff flat out the guy produces. Does he need to mature yeah and I don't blame him or Doom wanting coin they earned a raise I'd handle it better but, I'd be pissed too in same situation. I agree I'd rather Miami take BM with 12 then a wr that hasn't done anything in NFL. I think new scenery would help Marshall alot and I'd love him in Miami. Don't punish him lots of changes going on in Denver without a real QB either.
