If anyone wants to know why this team has consistently failed over the years, it's because management is more willing to get a guy known for episodes of headbutting on the field over the NFL's single game receptions leader.
I would love to have Incognito. Yeah he's a hot head but if he can calm it down to the point he's not hurting the team then he's a great guy to have because he can play and be intimidating. That would give us Smiley, Incognito, Thomas and Garner. All 4 can play guard at a pretty high level. That would give us phenomenal depth and leave us in terrific shape if someone gets hurt. He won't be expensive. How could you not love this move? And unlike Marshall, he's not a risk to be thrown in jail. Sign me up.
"Over the years?" You know this management has only been here for two seasons and already have a division title under their belt right? Not only have they not been responsible for our historic failures, they have gone a long way to fixing most of our problems. Part of their plan is to avoid over-paying and not coughing up premium picks for other teams problems.
Perhaps a better solution than breaking the bank on Marshall would be trading for Tony Scheffler with say a fourth rounder, signing the man to a 4/16m deal. Then they can sign Holt to lead the WRs and perhaps revive Ginn Jr.'s career. Scheffler+Holt together perhaps could bring a nice immediate impact for the offense, while the team spends at will in the first three rounds on a SOLB, a FS, and a NT.
Really a 2nd and a pick next year is giving to much for one of the best Receivers in the game? Its essentially Pat White and a player that would get cut after 1 year. Tell me that doesn't sound good?
It's not essentially Pat White. That's a horrible example. You just used white to support your argument. This years second round pick could be the next Anquan Boldin. It goes both ways.
What are you talking about? If you're referring to compensation for Marshall, Denver has already stated they would take no less than a 1st this year for him.
If we could get gresham with the 43rd pick that would be awesome he is going to be a good TE IMO, If not i think Gronkowski would be a good pick up to if he is 100% healthy
I still would rather have a proven star Receiver than taking a chance on someone. Well alot of teams say they wont take anything less than a certain value but things change and most likely he can be had for the price I said as time goes on.
that producing more then our WRs did he isnt a #1 WR anymore though so it would be pointless to sign him still
yeah and thats why Parcells has two rings. The foundation has to be solid and deep. Injuries happen. You need to be able to weather it. Plus he's an upgrade over Thomas. I like the pitbull attitude. You need some brawlers on the line. This kind of interest just shows how they pursue the "we will beat you up for 60 minutes" philosophy. If we do the signing, you can pretty much scratch offensive line from the draft. If we dont do it expect a 2nd or 3rd day draft pick. I'm kind of liking this offseason so far
He still gives you a legitimate veteran option and I think he still has a one yard year left in him if he played in Miami. Holt is what Ginn Jr. should be. Holt still has good speed deep speed, is still quick, has great hands, and runs excellent routes. He'd be a great influence on the young WRs and would likely outproduce any rookie we bring in. If we do draft a WR then we trade Camarillo for a sixth rounder so that he'll have playing time.
Come on, a Dolphin fan who can't get excited, never happen. Hmm, 17-15 in the last two years, yep we can win with what we have. The question should be imvho can we make it to the play off's and win. Not without giving Nolen some serious new play toys, while Dansby was a start we need alot more than that imo. WR, a need imho but no more or less than a great playmaking TE that can bust it going over the middle.
It actually gives me hope for Marshall.....they are willing to at look at "questionable" character players....
On Incognito Dolphins must weigh risk, reward http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...ncognito-dolphins-must-weigh-risk-reward.html
I would that if we sign Incognito to a contract, it would have major personal conduct clauses. I have not heard what type of person he is off the field and do not know if he has had any trouble with the law lately. I think our coaching staff has enough solid and hard nosed people in it to at least not tolerate any type of poor on the field conduct. You may notice that I refer alot to on the field behavior. Brandon Marshall would cost us alot in draft picke (which we sorely need), and a huge contract with alot of guaranteed money. No one disputes his performance on the field, but off the field he is trouble. I work in a Law Enforcement agency in the Southern part of Denver and while I cannot go into detail........we do not want either him or his "family" around our team.
I say get Incognito on the roster. I think this fella can play (from every talent assessment that I have read), and it has been a long, long time since we have had a player with a nasty streak. In order to be nasty like that you must first be brimming with self confidence and that would help this line a lot. We could stand to be a little assertive and cocky. Besides, the 'Tuna Team' will lay down the law and either break his sprint of break his back. I think I like this move.
Incognito is definitely a low-risk/high-reward. You'd think after last season he'd realize he's running out of options and grow up. Maybe he needs some tough love. If so, I think Miami is probably the right place for him to get his career straightened out.
Amazing how some of you are comparing a guy that head butted a couple guys in the heat of battle on the field as being even comparable to a guy that beat his woman?? Get freaking realistic people. The guy is a good guard that would upgrade that position. With Smiley and Thomas as well, especially Thomas getting another offseason to get stronger and smarter we could have a great offense line. Not I'm not going to say I'm completely blind to the fact that it doesn't matter how good your O-Line is if the team knows you going to run every time because you have no WR's. I agree that we need that on guy as WR that just makes the other team have to respect our passing game. Of course this year I really think Hartline could suprise some people. Kid looked really good as a rookie, get him some more time I think he's going to be a force this year.
HardKore coveres the difference between taking a chance on Incognito and BM is different. It's simply that he wont cost us a Pick our a big contract. If things don't work out with him we can simply cut bait and move on.
I get that...he will be looking for starter money however in relation to RG's, and if Miami low-balls him as they should because they have other starting RG's then they will lose out on him as well.......he is in Cinny today, Miami tomorrow...
Two years ago have nothing to do with the WR and everything to do with the Wildcat taking the league by storm.
Fact: Davonne Bess had 76 receptions for 758 yards and 2 TDs Fact: 76/758/2 > 51/722/0 It's quite easy to make a compelling argument for your side when you completely ignore all statistical facts, isn't it?
Clayton only had 6 catches as a rookie. He exploded in yr 2. Duper didn't do anything as a rookie either, but broke out from his 2nd yr on.
