Perhaps y'all have heard the recent news about how the Giants will be at home to open the new Giants Stadium (yes, I know it will no longer be "officially" Giants Stadium, but calling it "Giants Stadium" pisses off jet fans, so it will always be "Giants Stadium" to me) in Week 1. To try to placate the jets, the jets will host MNF in week 2. I really think there's a good chance they host the Dolphins. It makes too much sense. The NFL will want them to play a "good" team, but will also want them to win, for good feelings and all that stuff. I don't think they'll schedule the Pats, cause they'll be afraid of losing to the Pats. Enter the Dolphins: a 7-9 team with a long rivalry with the jets. We swept em last year, but they made it to the AFC Championship Game. The MNF miracle...the Wildcat...the Fake Spike...the Mud Bowl...Parcells...you know the drill. Its all too perfect. Let's go up to the new Giants Stadium in Week 2 and embarrass the stinking jets on national TV!!!!
I heard they were going to put the Jets home game on MNF WEEK 1. The day after the Giants play the home opener. Makes sense, they both get to play their first game in the new stadium in the opener. And I thought the same thing about the opponent. They always try to have very attractive matchups on that first weekend. Dolphins at Jets does that.
I don't think it will be us. We should be opening at home since the Marlins are away that Sunday. Unless we open up with back to back road games, which I really don't want to do.
I was wrong about the week, but I stand behind my theory. We will open our season at Giants Stadium, and kick the jets' asses on their new field.
You mean the ONLY NY state team!! Until they actually start playing in NY, The stinking Jets are from Jersey. And Jersey can have 'em!!
What does that have to do with it? Goodell cant go play NT for them? But isnt it obvious that they have had CHEATING swept under the rug, a player throwing punches gets a slap on the wrist, and the amount of calls they get I guess could be coincidental?
The name for the Jets and Giants are both New York....lets not get technical since Miami doesnt play in Miami anymore.....
These are the 2010 home Jets opponents. Home: Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings Sooooo, im guessing the Pats.
Then why did the officials let the Giants beat the crap out of Tom Brady in the Super Bowl a few years ago? I'm just saying.
-Buffalo sucks and the game will not be competitive. They want good MNF ratings. Won't be Buffalo. -New England is good and will probably beat the jets. Good ratings, but Goddell (ex-jet employee) wants to throw the jets a bone. Won't be New England. -Miami went 7-9 last year. On paper, the jets will be favored to win. No one but Miami homers are gonna pick us to win jack-spit this year. However, the Wildcat is exciting and easily promoted in their advertising. My money's on Miami.
Technically the only NY state team, seeing as the jets and giants are in jersey. People in western NY have pretty strong feelings about that
The way the Jets and woody have been crying of late,I can see them pushing for the Bills to open the season. No need for them to christen Giants Stadium with a loss.
I think you're on the right track. The league will want to save Jets-Patriots for a different week, when high TV ratings aren't already guaranteed like the week-1 game in the new stadium. I suspect the league will want an exciting team that the Jets have a good chance of beating. Might not be Buffalo. Maybe Cincy or Houston?
Jets have the Thanksgiving evening game, my money is we play on that night. We will open up at Home since the Marlins are away. The Marlins are home in week 2
I think the Dolphins embarrassing the Jets is an impossible feat. Their coach an obnoxious fat jerk, and their fans are drunken buffoons. I'd love to insult them further but I think it's redundant, I think God already did it. We could never embarrass this team on national TV better than they already embarrassed themselves.
Don't really care who they play as long as their opening night at the new state-of-the-art dump ends in a great big L in the books.
Whoever is playing them will be my favorite team that night! Looking at their home games I'd bet on Baltimore being the matchup if not us. Dolphins V jester games are always entertaining, they might save that one for later.
Key games to be announced tomorrow. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/21/key-2010-games-will-be-announced-on-monday/ If we get that opening Monday night game against the Jets I'm going to be pissed. That would mean we open the season with 2 road games with the second going on a short week. Seems like an unfair way to start the season to me. EDIT: And it has NOTHING to do with lack of confidence. Anyone who knows me or reads my posts knows that I have complete faith in the Dolphins to win every game. No matter what.
