And oh, if I had to choose one girl from the cast of Lost, it would be Alex, good lord she was smoking hot last night.
the 22 year old (thus quite legal) playing a high school 'school girl' thing always helps too seriously though, i was incredibly pleased with last night's episode. it got away from that 'hey its the last season everything needs to explode cry and die' thing and just gave us a story. i loved it. i feel like every scene flowed into the next, and it really made you care. question though, couldn't ben have just waited til after the principal wrote the rec to torpedo his career and take the job? I don't see why it had to be done either before the rec was written or never... but i guess it's better to see ben have a heart (also i liked that the principal was the d-bag reporter from the die hard series.. took me a little bit to place him) i can't wait for richard's episode. i think they've given us enough clues about him that it wont be an ep full of 'surprises' per se, but it's going to be really cool to see him on the black rock, meeting jacob, and finally understanding his character. they're definitely setting him up to be jack's #2 if he is chosen to be the new jacob. best part of the episode was when jack pulled the fuse out further and said lets talk. granted, they didn't really talk about anything substantial but it's so easy in this show to get mad at characters for never talking to each other truthfully, because it would avoid 99% of the problems, so it was fun to see that
The producers confirmed after the premier that Jughead did not destroy the island (as evident by the fact that the barracks were still perfectly intact). They then said to be patient... lol.
It really was....he was terrific When I saw the title of the episode and knew Ben Linus would be featured, I was instantly excited. Is it telling that my favorite character is the villain?
I love Terry Quinn and Michael Emerson. Two amazing actors. That's what makes this show great. The acting is amazing
i liked the episode... one question i have is if the MIB is the islands "protector", what role does Jacob play? is Jacob really the one trying to destroy the island while MIB wants to kill anyone who can help him accomplish that? i mean that scene were Jacob and MIB are talking when the Black Rock is heading towards the island, its MIB who says it always just leads to death and destruction but Jacob doesn't care... I've been thinking we'll see a role reversal on who we think is good (Jacob) and who we think is bad (MIB) for a while and I still think it could be happening... Jacob seems to pray on desperate people, look at the times when he "touched" the Losties, most of them were in a rough spot, even with Ilana Jacob came to her when she was in the hospital and asked her a favor, Richard was a slave in shackles and Jacob probably free'd him and made Richard do his bidding, hes a manipulator and maybe not for good reasons...
I'd like to read the transcript from that conversation on the beach between Jacob and MIB. Out of all the dialogue on the show, that part was probably the most important. Jacob was the one that brought the Black Rock to the island. If he's the protector, seems a bit contradictory to want to bring people to the island. Although, I don't see any way that MIB could be "good." He's killed people, Jacob never has.
There's an old biblical tale of Jacob and his twin brother Esau http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob... From something I read last year after the last episode, it made sense that the eternal stuggle of good vs. bad (Jacob & esau) is being mirrored in LOST. Edit: The scene of Jacob and MIB on the beach from the final episode of season 5. but we dont even know what it means to die on the island... maybe death on the island is a path off of the island, who knows... and maybe he only kills those who are helping Jacob in destroying the island... if he is the island's protector, killing those who try to destroy it is not an evil deed... i dont know, i know they want to portray it like Jacob good, MIB bad... but a mind**** in good old LOST fashion could have it end up the other way...
I to think its reverse. Its funny but ever since the first episode of this season, ive been on team Locke, it could be he is such a good actor, and so convincing idk. but i think team MIB are the good guys and Jacob is the bad guy.
and with all this switching stuff, the producers can easily pull an "i told you so". ilana and co stated that "they were the good guys". and someone, i forget who, called them out by saying people who state they are the good guys are generally the bad guys. They told us right from the beginning. Flocke has never tried to say he was good that i recall..
well supposedly he would be talking about the small island offshore with the hydra station, are you thinking he means there's a second main island?
Ben has been one of my favorites characters for a while. I was bracing myself for Ilana to turn around and shoot him or something after she told him she'd have him and started to walk away. Fortunately that didn't happen.
OK, I don't recall him saying the hydra station. That's makes more sense. Damn, my head has been spinning with possibilites of 2 islands.
I think they meant the smaller island. I still wonder what happened to James. Last we saw him was with Flocke.
Awesome! I Love sawyers story line, next to Locke's story his is my favorite. The long Con was one of my favorite episodes! I bet his parents are still alive. I mean Locke's dad turns out to be good, therefore he is not a con man and Sawyer's parents never died. I bet he has a family too
On island story = interesting Off island story = not so much Flashbacks > Flash Sideways. I think TPTB have messed with the formula a little too much. Hopefully there is a payoff. Sawyer episodes have always been some of the best, but this one fell flat for me. I like that Sawyer is in the middle of action though. Next Week is Alpert centric. I have read from spoiler sites that next week will be the best episode of the season. From what sources have said, it's going to be one of the best episodes of all time. Plus we're getting huge answers. What those are, I have no idea. I've been avoiding spoilers which get specific (I still read Ausello and Kristen, even though she's an idiot).
Maybe he changed his ways after Locke gave his Kidney away...? I don't know. I also think it's interesting that Locke tried to get Ben to go the Hydra station... Did he know he would be sending him to his death?
Didn't even think of that, good point but I don't think so only because why would Locke have Ben escape from death only to go to the other island to die? Didn't Locke tell Ben everyone was going to the Hydra island, not just him? I remember him telling Ben to 'meet us at the Hydra station' but I could be wrong.
I'm really hoping that this "side-ways" thing really ties in and makes sense at the end. It sure does eat up a lot of Island time... Also, here's a good article. Kinda sums how I feel about the show myself and what I expect. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35845817/ns/entertainment-television/
I know people point to the flash sideway stories as redemption for these characters but Sawyer's story had nothing to do with redemption, maybe his next one will be but right now besides being a cop there was no difference in Sawyer.
Not only that, but by the end of the episode Kate was running again. At this point you have to question whether Camp Jacob residents redeem themselves in these flash sideways while Camp MIB residents remain set in their ways. Unless I'm forgetting something, based on the character centric episodes we've seen this season, the only character not fitting into this mold would be John Locke and there could be a variety of reasons for this, not the least of which is that the real John Locke is dead.
Wow great point about Kate! I actually never thought Kate redeemed herself in the sideways story anyway. Yeah she went back for Claire but she had done nice things for people or stopped running for a bit in her other flashbacks (going to see her mother countless times, helping Sawyer's knocked up girlfriend, almost getting married, etc) and also ended up running again in the end. Another great point about Camp Jacob and Camp MIB. Because the more I think about it, how exactly has Sayid changed? I think you might be on to something.
I will say that I think they're getting too cute with putting old characters into the sideways flashbacks. Having Artz (spelling) as a school teacher obviously made sense but having Miles as a cop? I also knew right away that once Miles said he had a date for Sawyer it was going to be a random former Lost character. If it makes sense storyline wise I'm all for it (like having Charlie's brother in last night's episode in the police station asking Sawyer where the man that got arrested on the plane was or the Artz thing) but if it feels forced I'd rather get a random person we never met before since it really does nothing with the story and could get distracting.
he already has a family.he has a little girl i believe with the woman of the man he conned.he had asked kate to go see her when she got off the island and give her that money..he just didnt stay with them..but they seem to be half rewriting everyone elses lives so maybe him being good he never crossed her path and never had a daughter.and since that whole season is pretty much a didn't happen type thing then who knows. the more they talk about the good/evil thing the more it shows on screen.the dr.linus ep seemed to have bunch the group into two.locke, kate, sawyer the bad with frank, sun, ben as the good group but ill reserve thinking until i see the new ep.
Got back into this series just this week, I have avoided this thread so far because I can't get up to date episodes here without downloading them (living in Okinawa). I bought the first 5 seasons on blu ray and watched them all before starting season 6. Have to say this series was even better for me the 2nd time around, watching the seasons together really shows how well written it is. Theres just so much to this series, kind of a shame its only going to be 6 years but then again I don't think theres a weak season for it and this one looks great so far as well. One of the best shows ever IMHO.
Wow that was a great episode, that must have been one hell of a storm though to push the BR that far into the jungle, I dont think that part was very realistic though.
Very cool episode. - Jacob and the MIB... WTF are they? Why is Jacob his keeper? Is it because they're brothers? Are they gods? Should make for an interesting finale. I also think Hurley takes over for Jacob. He's the only character I would classify as purely good. - The island traps evil? Therefore, what? Is it the garden of Eden? - A small wooden ship took down an entire stone statue? I'm having a hard time believing that. Another loose end tied up with lazy writing. Owell.
Maybe weakening of the stone by a thousand years of sea water and wind eating away at it Anyway great episode....answered so many questions and looking back on previos seasons much can be explained.
