    Resign Bess long term.
He'll be a great slot for years.

I see where you're coming from, it's not like he's really surprised a lot of people, but you never know. He is a big dude and might develop into a nice receiving TE. I am sure he didn't cost that much.

As for Bess, sign that guy for the next 10 years.

I think it was a great move by the front office because Bess and Carpenter will only improve. Haynos, will develop in time but should have been given a lesser deal. I would like to see Bess and Carpenter be long term additions to the team. IMHO they are the new face of the franchise.

Only one signing left that I would lie to see; JT. Even at his age, he can still perform. His signing will do nothing but help us as we fill a spot until the next draft. One position at a time we are building a great team.

This is a great front office and I know it's hard to be patient ..... but we must.

First couple times I saw Haynos run a play I thought what the hell is that lineman doing running down field? Guy is big but also slow and lanky. If he can get a little quicker and develop good hands he could be a very good blocking TE that can grab a few passes from time to time.

For Bess I'm glad he is still a Phin and hope he stays a long while. It is my hope the drops he had last year were growing pains and adjusting to a new QB. Even with the drops I think he was a valuable asset for the Phins.

Why would we only sign Bess and Carpenter to a 1 year deal? I'd like to see a longer deal with them, especially Bess.

While I like 2 of the signings I guess that's our free-agent wideouts were getting :) (I know they weren't free agents!)

However We have way to many holes to fill in a draft looks like were still a few years away from that magical team..

It really scares me that Davone Bess was only signed to one year. I have really grown fond of that dread head...I am guessing that they want to see if he is productive in 2010 before signing him to a long term deal.

Restricted rights free agents can only be signed to 1 year deals. That's why they were only given those. They either take those deals or sit out of football for a year. After their third year, per the previous cba anyway, they become Restricted free agents in which we tender an offer on them and other team's can offer compensation ala Wes Welker. And then, after their 4th year they can be signed long term. At least this was the way it worked under the previous cba. Who knows how it will be going forward.

    Carpenter is not worried ....

Bess and Haynos though, this year is critical to both .... Bess had an up and down year, and closed up pretty good - just like he did his rookie year, BUT - he is not spectacular, and could be pushed by his prior HA teammate. Haynos has shown he can block ... and can probably hold a roster spot on teams just because of that ... but we have 2 TEs in Sperry and Nalbone who are still in development -- so he needs to show he can actually be a threat to catch, as he did that on a couple occasions last year to stick beyond this year.
