I think guys will slow down just so they don't have to get pulled over by A TAURUS.

yea that would be almost as bad as getting pulled over by a escort or the ford focus(which i've seen in my area).on the other hand it's a shame they didn't go with the topaz as it would fall apart once it hit 65 miles an hr.just gotta outrun it for 2 city blocks and your home free!

    Think again...from Motor Trend:

0-60 is 5.2 seconds and 1/4 mile time is 13.7. That beats:

    ~ the 328i
    ~ the 528i
    ~ the 535i
    ~ the 550i
    ~ the 550i Gran Turismo
    ~ the 650i
    ~ the Z4sDrive30i.

Aside from the fact that you know the police version will be somewhat "tweaked" a little.

So yea...be sure about it. :wink2:

Saw a new SHO just the other day up close, its definitely not the same old car it used to be, its really nice inside and that SHO motor is bad ***. I would drive one in a heartbeat.

I thought they would go with the Dodge Charger as the new standard cop car.

Yeah bro but you're associating "fast" soley with drag times (LOL I said drag)... I think there's a tad more to racing than going 1/4 mile in a straight line. There's a ton of cars that can smoke a beemer in the quarter mile. Smoking it on a track is something else all together. :hi5:

Yea but you can't argue facts. Ford is kicking Chevy and Dodge's *** lately.

No, I said it would peel it's paint.

Let's be realistic bro, this isn't "The Fast and the Furious". Most street races are stoplight to stoplight. You don't see people drifting around corners anywhere.

I remember Ford advertising the new Taurus. It looks awesome. Ford is by far my favorite of the big 3, especially because they are the only ones that kept it alive during the hard times. I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer, and I still love it. No major problems.

i know man but BMW doesnt build their sportier cars to drag race. They put a ton of engineering and boast about thing like their braking systems, suspension, and 50/50 weight distribution. All things to help it shred the track.

Do people use the thing to drag race? Sure, every drag races everything. I just dont think it's fair to say something's faster than another thing based only on a 1/4 mile drag time. I'm bet your mustang will SMOKE an F-18 on a 1/4 mile drag strip

    And I completely understand that.

What I'm saying is that very few people actually take their cars to a track. Thoroughbred horses are bred to race, but if all its owner does is use it to pull a wagon, what's the point? I'm talking about how the cars perform in basic everyday situations, which for the most part is stoplight to stoplight.

Since the VAST majority of BMW owners are uppity yuppie pricks, I doubt too many of them are spending weekends shredding anything except the paperwork on shady business deals. :tongue2:

There's used to be a time when men had to fork over their man card along with the money they spent to buy a Taurus. Now you have to make sure your man card is not expired when you buy one.

yup, I think you can get nicely built 135i for around $40k (start's at 36,050), and I would even take that over the Taurus, simply for the resale. And it's also a 6 cylinder twin turbo.

Why would they retain the name Taurus?
Regardless of how awesome it may look/preform people will shy away because their grandmother drives a car of the same name.
    Bad advertising in my opinion.

Branding bro... Building a new brand this day and age is no easy thing. It's easier and smarter for them to go with a name known world wide (Taurus), then to try to establish a new brand name (Five Hundred). Essentially they went back to the Taurus over the Ford Five Hundred (wasn't sticking at all). Even though your grandma has one, the name is known.

Ford makes pretty good cars and trucks these days. I think they have stayed strong and improved at least partly due to their partnership with Mazda which is another good line these days.

Heh, I took drivers ed in a Crown Vic (was actually a decommissioned police car). And I know a few of us saw the backseat of one under less than ideal circumstances.

Hopefully the Taurus will be a bit roomier back there.

If it were me, I'd be calling that thing the New Taurus. Or the Taurus X2. Something besides Taurus.
