do we sign him for 1 year??? i don't see him as a long term fix but he would be a great sign and mentor for berry, who we should do what it takes to draft.
Eric Berry won't still be there at 12. Earl Thomas may not even be there. At this point it looks like we'll work out Sharper in about 2 weeks and sign him. Maybe if we don't trade out of 12 and Thomas is there we'll draft him. We're stuck at FS because the FO doesn't want to poison pill Atogwe apparently and Brodney Poole got signed by the Jets.
I also don't think either Thomas or Berry will be available to us. If the indications as some have interpreted from the FO is that they want to see what Clemons and Culver can do, adding Sharper makes a lot of sense. It looks as though we will have at least two new starters on D (OLBers) so having a Sharper there to 'QB' the D will help a lot, while still giving time for the youngsters to learn the game better...
by adding Sharper we have an elite FreeSafety for a year or two 1) could compete for the BigEnchilada immediately 2) can use him to develop & mentor Clemons and Culver & perhaps a 2010 draft choice 3) this is obviously the way to go having said that do think the Saints would let him just walk away?
Sharper was only elite in the Saints defense because he was free to roam and ball hawk he wouldn't be doing that in our defense thus he would be very Mediocre.
Saints/Cardinals my bad sorry that being said Sharper would be an answer to the defensive backfield if we could swing the deal
Seriously, 23rd...you really think that by simply adding Sharper, we are competing for the SB ?? Wow...I love the fins and have aqua and orange colored glasses like the rest of us here, but that's a bit of a stretch, dontcha think ??
what makes you say that we are going to work Sharper out in a couple of weeks (not saying it is not true just wonder where you heard that)?
Well you beat me to the punch on that. Because I haven't heard anything even hinting to that. Like you, I'm not disputing it, but I'd like to know where this came from.
I'd give him WHATEVER HE ASKS FOR on a two year deal and draft a safety in the third of fourth round to compete with Chris Clemons as Sharper's successor. On a short term deal I could care less about the amount of guaranteed money. Sharper is one of the best safeties in the league and will remain so for the next year or two, maybe more.
a deal is being worked on as we post this is a real possibility & 2010 resolution to our rookie defensive backfield & yes I do believe we can make a run on the BigEnchilada if we secure Sharp
