After two years of drafting for the Ravens I was finally able to get the phins back in a 7 round mock I do every year. While we're killing time till our draft I thought I'd see what your thoughts are on how I've done so far and what I should do with the remaining picks.

1-12 - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF - Moves to OLB

    Trade 2-43, 3-73 to Vikings for 2-37, 3-93, 5-161

2-37 - Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois - too many teams needing a WR between this pick and mine...had to move up and I got the 5th I lacked.

    3-93 - Major Wright, S, Florida

    Trade 4-110 and 6-174 for 4-101

4-101 Torrell Troup, NT, UCF - with Williams, Thomas, joseph gone I felt I needed to get in front of San Diego and buffalo to grab a NT like Troup. I couldve moved to 104 for just a 7th but Id have to risk troup getting past SD who still has a big hole at NT.

So that's where we are. I still have a 5,6,6,7,7,7 left.

I'm hoping to get a TE next. I'd like to get a RB, DE, And another rush linebacker. Is that about right or am I off base?

With all due respect, I honestly hope that in real life, we don't end up with ANY of those guys with perhaps the exception of Torrell Troup....but I think that's a bit high for him. Of course, we don't have a 5th in the real life, so would probably have to get him in the 4th.

Well I took Troup In the 4th. He'll be gone before then in real life. Who would you rather have in those spots?

Any one of about 8 or 9 guys at the 12. I honestly dont think JPP is going to do well...just a gut feeling. Wish list at the 12 goes:
    1- Dez
    2a-Earl Thomas
    2b-Jerry Hughes
    3- Lots of others
IF we go WR at all in the draft, better be Bryant at the 12, or just pass all together...Scratch that, Perhaps Golden Tate at the 2-11.
Other than that. LOTS AND LOTS of linebackers.

It's not a bad list Greg. You addressed the needs and likely got close to BPA. I'm not sold on JPP personally, from the tape I've seen. A physical specimen, but I think he plays a little high. I'm not sure I like his transition to OLB for our 34. Benn could very well be in the picture for us at that second round pick.

Love those first two picks. JPP in this defense has tremendous upside and you know Parcells loves him because he fits the "Planet Theory" to the very core of its philosophy. Benn addresses a serious need as well.

Im less sold on Wright but I cant criticize it without knowing who else was available. Plus if we got Benn and JPP Id be so elated I probably wouldnt care

Bryant was gone by 12. Tate Went 2-1. Its easier to mock when no other teams are picking. We'll see about JPP. Some said the same about Demarcus Ware when he came out.

True, but MANY especially on this board also said Ghoulston was the next coming.
To me JPP is Ghoulston Part Deux. The similarities are there, especially the ones that made him (Ghoulston) stand out as a sure bust to me. :wink2:
EDIT: I also don't mean to take away from what your doing.
You are very correct its tough when you throw in all the teams.

Well trading back in the third limited my safety selection more than I thought it would. He was the 9th safety taken at that point.

It's cool I asked for your opinion. You couldve had Thomas or Hughes at 12. I think 12 is high for Hughes and while Thomas will probably go around there if not earlier, I'm not a big fan of taking safeties that high. I'll put money on parcells taking a front 7 guy with that pick.

What similarities are you seeing between JPP and Ghoston?
    Gholston's biggest knocks were:
    - He couldnt stack and shed
    - He couldnt use his hands when rushing the passer or getting off blocks
    - Questions about his work ethic
    - Questions about his willingness to mix it up

I dont see any of that with JPP. Not saying hes perfect but I dont see those issues.:up:

What about: very very limited time playing the game.
Level of play against level of talent.
    Over reacting to plays.
Depending on athleticism to make plays.
Physical freak, doesn't make him a football player.
Besides being able to do a backflip, I don't see him doing that much more than lots of guys coming out. How many years are you going to have to spend coaching this kid till he's actually ready to contribute?

You could say 1,2, 4 about Demarcus Ware when he came out also. JPP is raw but extremely talented and I havent seen anything that would cause me to harbor any kind of concern about his ability to transition to the NFL game.

I could live with a draft like that. Very potential heavy. Not sure this regime would gamble like that, but you've got some big time upside with those guys.

As far as advice for your next picks, if there is some value in a TE on the board that is one spot the Dolphins could really use. I'd imagine Graham, Pitta, and Dickerson are all gone. If not, I'd snatch one of them up for sure. Other TE's that might be interesting are Anthony McCoy, Ed Dickson, Andrew Quarless, Tony Moeaki, or Clay Harbor if any of those guys are still on the board.

Watch Jimmy Graham come off in the 3rd or 4th as well.... Tons of potential just needs to learn the position.
