http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/ Sounds about right, I know Crowder has his fans, and I like him, the hard cold fact of the matter is, Crowder was not even close to his 08 form last season.
The CFL has an All Star team, but not an All Star game. For me Crowder is a touchy subject, I like him, however he is not a dynamic ILB by any stretch of the imagination. Dude cannot blitz to save his life, he rarely stuffs a play in the hole, and TFL's are UFO's with Channing..
Crowder was pretty good in 2008 -- at least good enough to earn a three-year contract from Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano. Crowder led the team in tackles in nine 2008 games. The Dolphins bought in on Crowder. And to think one of Zach's worst seasons were better than his best. 3-4 4-3 ,don't matter. Chowder is deserving of the accolades.I did enjoy that pick at the end of the Patriots game. That's all I got,Padre. Honestly,I like the intensity Chowder brings,he's funny too. It's refreshing but he just can't back it up.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo6cNQwN6LQ"]YouTube- The Sopranos: Big ***** is a fish[/ame] During the season, I posted up in Club that Cam Wake needed to play over Joey Porter, that sooner or later, HC Sparano will have to face the facts no matter how much he may not want to. In this case, guess who the fish is?
Sounds and smells like big ***** to me,but I could be wrong.it's been a while since that episode was on.LOL it was filmed in asbury park though. ; )
Don't know what his deal was last year but I nicknamed him Rainbow because he always showed up after the storm.
I didn't realize how good of a season he had in 2008. That gives me hope that with the additions of Nolan and Dansby he could be a solid starter for us.
it was stated before the season that the dolphins were hoping for more structure from crowder who tends to run around out there instead of being disciplined. he isnt going to get better people as the team moves on and continues to build the defense look for him to fade away. i for one have seen enough of him to know that he doesnt get it. the guy has zero awareness.
IMO, Crowder's regression started during his 2nd season... He had a nice first year and ppl were expecting him to continue to get better....he didn't. He leveled off and we've been getting nothing but mostly average play from him since
I believe he will get better. 51 tackles??? Now he has Dansby to play along side of. Dansby will pressure him to play better rubbing off on him. This coming season won't be a mouth for a mentor it will be action from one. Then theres Nolan. This man will pull more from his tank or he won't be back.
Bro, I'm beginning to wonder about Crowder's long term future in Miami, mainly because they still are looking at ILB's even after they signed Dansby. And they have chatted with several ILB's whose names we all would know. To me, they want more dynamism from the ILB position..as in they can rush the passer a bit and score some TFL's on run blitzes.
tackles for losses indeed and a hope for a big play at least sometime never a better time than ever to develop a guy to play with dansby instead of hoping for crowder to get better. to me channing will become more wreckless than ever which doesnt work to our favor. dansby is a discilined structured ILB and crowder is not. that combo looks more like oil and water to me.
Cut the player..my second round pick will play next to Dansby.. I disagreed with the regime for givin him a new contract.
Hopefully with Nolan here and Dansby next to him he can step his play up. If not he clearly needs to be replaced. He's not a bad as a lot of people think but he certainly isn't going to hang around if he has another year like last year.
Crowder will play heads-up along side Dansby & w/ Nolan @ the reigns of the defense OLB's: Wake & Anderson, hope Taylor & Moses return, if so, we're set @ the LB slots we need to fix the FreeSafety & NT & there may be in-house fixes available there too got to coach them up
Wake, Anderson, Taylor and Moses doesn't come even close to making us 'set' at OLB this year .... how does this make us better than last year ??? outside of hoping and praying that Wake takes that next step.
yeah that group is garbage except for maybe wake who hasnt played LB taylor wont be back, moses and anderson are both backups and crowder will be worse next to dansby not better nolan has his work cut out for him that is why i will be happy if we pass on the over rated dez bryant if he is there and draft some LB's on this team. we are in dire need of help for dansby and no better time than the present to start the continuation of building this defense. i look for us to grab at least 2 olb's and an ilb in this draft
i'm not so sure this regime 'bought into' Crowder now after watching them for the last 2 years .... look at what they have done in FA .... they have repeatedly taken risks and signed tier 2 type guys, and the best signings have been Grove and now Dansby .... with Dansby likely to be the best signing to date -- since if nothing else, he isn't a huge injury risk. we got reasonable value for him at the time ... as opposed to shelling out $$$$ for one of the other better FAs -- which of course we ended up doing later anyway. we've had many debates on Crowder, and i've never been a fan ... but, with regard to the FO and them buying into him ... i believe they took a shot, just like Wilson, et al ... and it didn't work and now they are fixing it. they have 'bought into' Dansby .... and even if he has a 'bad' year -- it will still be at least equal to the 'best' year of Crowder -- and that gives me something to look forward to.
Like killer stated, discipline is a problem with Crowder. What's up in the air is the cause of it. We don't know the why. It's possible that he didn't trust Ayodele to hold down his assignment and was trying to do too much. It's also possible that Pasqualoni didn't have a firm enough hand. Regardless, I agree with the sentiment that he needs to improve or he's going to be a former Dolphin. With Dansby next to him and Nolan calling the shots he's run out of excuses. It would be really telling if we draft an ILB early on.
This maybe an unpopular thing to say (and if it is I am sorry) but I have never been sold on Crowder. I have looked over the game highlights for the last two years and in the LB blown plays two names kept emerging: Akin and Crowder, and we all know what happened to Akin. That is not to say that Crowder doesn't make good plays, he does, but I think he is the brides maid and not the bride in this scenario. I feel that we could do better. I predict a 90% Defensive draft with LB and FS being highlight spots. Nolan is a great coach and it will be interesting to see what changes he makes. Drafting a NT is also a concern but Soliai will do for now (I think). It also depends on what the 2011 NT draft class looks like. We have many more options at NT than we do at LB and FS so that's where I expect the focus of the draft to be.
