right right even more of a reason they go defense at 12 IMO...I mean the speed numbers of Bryant arent shocking, he is a YAC guy...much like Marshall, big, tough to bring down...I just wish this guy had a good attitude you know...

    PRO DAYS
Bryant posts expected 40 times during private workout
Posted: March 30th, 2010 | Gil Brandt | Tags: 2010 Pro Days, Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant is still going through position drills at his private workout for NFL teams, but I do have his 40-yard dash times to pass along.

Bryant began the workouts Tuesday in his hometown of Lufkin, Texas, with the 40, posting times of 4.52, 4.68 and 4.52. He was asked to run the third time due to the discrepancy between the first two times.

    I don't thonk that's true at all.
As somebody stated, I think the 40 time is EMENSELY over-rated.
Since when did being a world class sprinter become pre-req for being a top-notch Football player.

I would put much more value on shuttle drills and such.
Also, being able to actually atch the ball, and then doing something with it once you do is MUCH more important than straightline, line up in sprinters blocks and never change direction or look around you qualities.

this was lost do to thread wrap.

After watching Taylor Mays post a 4.31 at the Combine only to have the "official" number moved into the high 4.4 range, the "official" stuff is crap.

The "unconfirmed' stuff is what Scouts actually timed.

What exactly is wrong with his attitude?
Have you heard any interviews with him?
I hope you're not buying into the bad PR-BS being perpetraded about him. Very very little truth in it IMHO.
He's a good kid from a rough background.

Well, is the #12 pick absolutely required to be used on a defensive player?

I don't think so, the real key is the #43/#73/#104 picks, we need two starting quality players out of those three picks.

Actually, I think we need 3 out of the top 4 to be starters for a real chance, 2 of those 3 need to be on defense.

-Yes, I have listened to two interviews

-He was late for things, was suspended.

-Not sure if he is a good kid from a broken background, no one outside of his friends and family and teammates knows that with certainty.

I really hope this cat is off the board before #12.

A average draft produces 2 starters, we need at least 3, possibly 4 depending on the Te situation.

So we need a excellent draft close to the Dallas 2005 draft.

He was late for 1 practice his Freshman year.
I personally think its obscene that he got bent over by the NCAA like he did. Keep in mind Rewggie Freakin Bush was caught red-handed paying for a house paid for by boosters yet nothing.

if that the case is brandon marshall really a attitude problem....?? yes the guy has an attitude problem, I dont characterize being a loofy guy, quirky, as some say he is, with showing up late to GAMES, meeting practices, suspensions.....all the things attitude wise people bash Marshall on here for....and please stop with the good kid from rough background crap too bro...I hate that excuse.....so are the majority of inner city kids playing today in the NFL, but dont have attitude issues....its the person...not the place...

Which brings me to a point I don't like about D Bryant, he was suspended because he was visiting Deion Sanders who was playing lackey for Eugene Parker, Bryant knew it, and when the NCAA brought it up he overreacted.

I'm not a fan of Eugene Parker, not in this situation, he likes holding his guys out to often for my taste.

Can you really see them taking a RB or Iupati at 12?? I could actually see Bryant....even though I dont agree with it...

I don't see any evidence that his players hold out more often than other agents players. IMO it's just the publicity from Crabtree's holdout that gives that appearance. And it was fairly obvious that that holdout was completely Crabtree's doing.

A list of his holdout clients:

and that was prior to Crabtree's holdout in a similar situation to what Bryant will be in if he slides to #12.

Watched some of it on NFLN was scanning for Phins colors and saw none at all, saw Singletary, Carroll and McCarthy someone from Cowboys a couple other teams but nothing from us. I don't think FO is interested in Bryant at all they are more interested in the character guys like Mike Williams

Not really, what I think is that Bryant is sorta between two worlds, extreme poverty and unstability and "you're the greatest you're the best" etc etc.

Dude needs someone to hangout with whom he respects and who can tell him things, Bryant just is not very self directed in my view and he needs a mentor/motivator day in and day out.

In the military, for example, everyone wakes up at the same time and does the same thing, that instills discipline and structure, with Bryant, he has no one to to show him that is the thing to do each day, every day, with him right now he only does things when he wants to becaue imho he doesn't really grasp how important it is to be consistent.

Basically, the dude has been Coachless and it shows.

    Padre,

Outside of the things you have mention here like agent and the things heard in the media, do you not think that he will turn into a solid player? Do you think with the correct mentor that he could become more of the type of player you would like to see?

Just kidding Padre I completely agree. But I have have to say that I agree that a large majority of the population would benefit from the military structure. Myself not excluded.

    :dunno:

So far he doesn't seem the type to memorize the playbook on Friday Nights in the offseason, that is something a player has or they don't, they can be taught it, but it does go away ala Moss in Oakland.

The way I look at, the guy has remarkable talent and with some stern guidance could lead to great things. I would just have this turn into another eddie moore pick instead of boldin. I personally would not pass on him. Quite a bit of the issues with him can be solved in my opinion with proper guidance.

Diffferent units FY, Wr go to the side and do Wr things, Rb's go to their side and do Rb things.

Bryant is coming off as a flake, forgetting your cleats to your own pro day, after pushing it back twice, is not a good sign, maybe he left them at Deion's house?

Apparently he just did not know how to run the cone drills..ouch..what the heck has he been doing for the last 6 months?

I mean like in the locker room, like learning to be a pro.....the cone drills scare me, the CB biggest function is to wack your feet out of rhythm, thus causing slow start of the line time, separation issues, if this cat cant finish off a cone drill, whats going to happen when Revis jams his arse...??

The guy does not take to coaching..many people have tried with this kid.....he is Greg Hardy with half a brain...Hardy is void of one ounce of brain matter.........on top of that he does not dig into his routes very well outside the hash, loves those crossing routes, ALWAYS cuts across his body and never gets separation cutting to his open leg, has lazy eyes/hands on come back routes, does not hand fight into routes well, does not track the ball vertically extremely well...yeah he has good size enough speed and is obviously athletic and his deficiencies can be coached up....If he were coachable kid .....and he has shown he is not.....I get that I am in the minority here and he is a great athlete......but IMHO he is not a great receiver or a lead pipe lock to be one even if he is not the second coming of Attila the Hun from an attitude standpoint...with his skills IF he were coachable he is 17-22 IMHO...with his history and apparent attitude toward the game, his teammates and coaching...I would not touch him......and I do not get why that would be hard to justify....just MHO ... don't bash me, I do not hate the kid or pass judgement on whther he will get his head on right or not, I am just looking at his history...it is just what I see of course....................
