I kind of like his fire but I just don't see us taking Bryant at all, too many question marks from work ethic to talking smack and right down to his agent and the whole Deion Sanders thing. All stuff that Parcells hates...I don't think we take him at 12 even if he is there. I think if they wanted a reciever with the first they would just get Marshall, he's less of a risk, proven player on the field and the money is really a non factor in an uncapped year, it's not like Bryant is going to come cheap and if he does hit Marshall's level of play he's going to want just as much if not more money.

However having said that I would be amazed if they took any reciever with an early pick it looks like they are more concerned with filling the holes they created at OLB and FS. We were better off in 2008 with Hill, Taylor, Porter, Roth than we are now. Granted some of these guys had to go but at this point it's starting to seem like we are going in circles rather than moving forward which is disappointing as we can't really afford to keep doing this when we have other holes to fill.

Dez how many championships Moss got?? Why is that?? The man aspires to be like Moss, someone who puts up nice numbers, but hot dogs when the ball doesnt go his way, and when the game isnt going just perfect.......shhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttt dddddddddooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn

Okay forget all the Moss, and grammar talk...THIS IS THE MOST DISTURBING TO ME YET.......

He also defended Pacman Jones. "Why down talk the man?" Bryant said of Pacman. "The man did everything right."

Guys come on here for a minute...think about that, he condones Pacman Jones' behavior...dont you think theres something a tad bit wrong upstairs with a man who condones Pacman's behavior. Dez is a Plax incident waiting to happen, then mix in the South Beach club/night scene, it could get real ugly....

HE SAID THE MAN DID EVERYTHING RIGHT?!?!?!??!!??! Go ask the guy in the wheelchair who caught a bullet in the back that night if Mr. Jones did everything right...

I hope they draft freaking Tim Tebow over this clown...well maybe not that far but you catch my drift...

    Back in Miami
    Please....

There are groups of people from certain "socioeconomic" status' that complain all the time that they are not given opportunities for education.
This couldn't be a weaker excuse.

Here you have a kid that "if" he did grow up in a poor family, was given a free ride at a major University of higher learning. He CLEARLY wasted the educational aspect of what he was given because he had every opportunity to better himself mentally.

Don't make excuses for people that refuse to improve themselves or don't see the need to. Don't fall for the excuse.

The kid is dumb as a rail in his speech and the way he's choosing to represent himself.

Having said that, alot of players fit that same category and end up good football players.
The problem that concerns me is more his attitude and the knocks on his work ethic if they are all true.

So how much caution should be exercised because of his "issues"?

    I don't know.

If the brass feels he has enough focus on playing football to realize his potential then he's a great pick at 12. You have to look at all the variables here though and at least consider that his head, or lack of one, could affect his growth at the next level.

Get off his *** about grammar, he has done a hell of a lot better for himself than many of you would do given his situation. Apparently his mother was 14-15 and his father was 44 when she had him.

Yeah he was given a free ride for one reason and one reason only, to play football. As a teacher I would love to see all of these kids to take advantage of a chance at a better education but when a poorly educated teenager going to college to play football then football is their life because it is by far their best chance at becoming successful in life. The way many of the kids are raised does not put a strong emphasis on education. All I care about is whether he is smart on the field. I rarely watch payer interviews anyways.

Sorry but I don't buy it. Regardless of their upbringing, I'd like to think anyone here given a free ride to college for 4 years would at least be able to speak proper english once they graduated.

I don't really care how the guy speaks but he's certainly not going to get any sympathy from me over having to talk jive turkey due to his upbringing...not when he had every opportunity in the world to correct it.

the grammar part doesn't bug me as much as dez calling everyone out before the draft
making threats to nfl teams before ever stepping into that environment
that takes a lot of rocks downstairs and a little less from the big rock upstairs
to me that is the rub

Oh you mean like Peyton Manning did when he told the Colts if they didn't draft him he'd be kicking their butts on the field?

Getting an education won't always fix the problem. The only southern black guys that I ever met who didn't talk basically like he does, had educated parents.

And in the south, very few of us, black or white for that matter, have educated parents.

Down here there's an old saying....

"Southern kids don't go to school, they go to work"

Did this kid go to any classes in college? Would this affect his ability to learn an NFL level playbook?

Maybe it's just nerves dealing with media pressure etc.

I speak plenty of slang. If that makes me an idiot so be it....... I think being articulate is actually an easy way to project being intelligent without actually being intelligent. When you really think about it, you are basically showing off mastering the rules of language. Theres not a whole lot there thats all that complicated I think....

edit: FYI I agree with you that he should be articulate if he wishes to better play the business aspect of the game. I just disagree that it is a sign of lower intelligence...

to me that is never warranted

why not just stay quite and prove it. You think his statements improve his draft value?

Personally, even though there are some question marks with his actions, I like the fact he's getting angry about what people think of him. He will come out and try to prove everybody wrong and I would LOVE to have that on my team as a wide receiver.

It's amazing how the Dez Bryant fans will completely ignore all the signs of his diva personality and attempt to sweep everything under the rug, going so far as to blaming the media for picking on Dez Bryant.

This guy is Terrell Owens all over again. Yeah, he will probably make some plays in the NFL if he goes to a team with a good quarterback, but he will also be the type that will complain when he doesn't get the ball. He will lash out at his teammates. He will throw his quarterback under the bus. This is on top of his lack of prep off the field. He's not going to spend much time in the film room. He has a history of being late to meetings and practices. It's pretty obvious that he didn't go to class at OSU.

Yet some of you want to use the 12th pick in the draft on this guy? That's as bad as using the 12th pick on a safety that cannot tackle - Earl Thomas.

Instead, Miami should use the pick on a player that isn't going to hurt the team. Rolando McClain, Derrick Morgan, Jerry Hughes, Brandon Graham, Jared Odrick, or Mike Iupati.

How is defense a panicked need? We need help at FS, OLB and NT. Defense far outweighs offense as far as need goes. I understand we need more big plays on offense. I understand peoples arguments that it's now a passing league, but shouldn't we put ourselves in position to stop other teams from scoring? Mike Nolan and Karlos Dansby will help greatly but there are still other needs to be addressed on that side of the ball.

I want you to think about what our 4 biggest needs are, and tell me how many of them are on defense. It should be a majority.
