yikes... if true, maybe they want to get the title off of Y2J so he can come back to Raw in the draft.

I think Jericho should be on RAW anyway considering there are zero top heels on the show now that Orton is a face, like I said in one of my last posts I think Punk and Jericho should both move over to RAW.

The title change just feels very forced much like when Sheamus won. I guess if they actually give Swagger a nice title run where he doesn't get beat up each week and made to look like an idiot (i.e. Sheamus) it wouldn't be terrible, especially considering Smackdown is the minor leagues to RAW so to speak, they can get away with it. But it's just weird how they built the Jericho/Edge feud up only to have Edge lose at WM and now I'm guessing he'll end up beating Swagger for the belt soon enough and we won't get a real pay off from the feud.

Hmmm. Jericho tweeted that he got selected for sequestered jury duty...six weeks minimum. No working for that time.

But it is also April Fool's Day, so chances are he is kidding. Not sure, but it could explain the loss to Swagger. Although, reading the spoilers, he is scheduled to wrestle Edge next week. Hmmmm.

I have a feeling he is hurt.

I think it is an April Fool's joke. That's the first thought I had when I read it this morning.

EDIT: Jericho confirmed it was a joke. Samphin is such a mark.

Well this is interesting, apparently Vince McMahon was telling people after WM that his Mr. McMahon character has been retired since he feels like the character has now gone full circle as it started with Montreal and has ended with Bret beating him. He also thinks he's too old to perform in the ring anymore and is too old to be a heel as well. I actually think that it makes a lot of sense for the character to be over now and hopefully they stick to it and just have Vince appear every so often to be an enforcer or to announce something special. They need to get rid of the guest hosts for RAW and lock down an everyday GM though.

 Considering I pointed out that it was most likely an April Fool's Day Joke within the same post...I would say no. Although, I would enjoy the product even more if I was more of a mark. I used to be a hardcore internet Wrestling Fan, but once I got into the ring, my appreciation for things I never considered started to grow. Nowadays, I am plugged in, but am able to take a step back and enjoy something for what it is, even if it isn't a five start wrestling clinic.

As for McMahon retiring, that is probably a good idea. And even better that he didn't announce it on a night where HBK had his legit sendoff. I also think that Vince is probably closer to turning the reigns over to HHH/Stephanie than any of us realize. He is certainly taking a lesser profile since his wife started her Senate campaign and it wouldn't surprise me if he went back to simply staying out of the limelight for quite awhile and taking a more active day to day approach in writing the shows.

Also. I just realized that The Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series in November of 1990. Which means he is closing in on 20 years for his character. That is pretty remarkable considering how gimmicky that whole character is. Congrats to him, and maybe he will look at the 20 year run, his injuries and his legacy being what it is, and walk away as well.

Obviously I was kidding about the mark comment, just a friendly jab.

I'm also glad that McMahon didn't make a speech either, as it would be a waste for him to do so and really take away from HBK. His character came full circle and everyone who he had an issue with during the character's run (Bret, Austin, Triple H, HBK, Undertaker, Shane, Stephanie, Linda, WCW and Bischoff) has gotten closure. It would be nice to see him staying off camera for awhile, which he actually had been doing until the who's Vince's son angle, until he's needed to make a major announcement.

Yeah it is amazing that The Undertaker has lasted as long as he did, especially since the WWF stopped the somewhat crappy cartoon like gimmicks to the Attitude era where they got more realistic. Looking back at it, it's almost shocking how many miles he got out of the gimmick. He will definitely be remembered as the best big man ever and with good reason as he put on a lot of great matches.

I do wonder how his character will end and who will be the one to 'retire' him if anyone at all (which personally I don't think he should lose his last match since it wouldn't fit his character/gimmick). I could see him walk away as early as next year's Wrestlemania or wait until the following year to get that 20-0 record.

Interesting question actually. There would seem to be some full circle-ness to having Ted Dibiase end Undertaker's career, seeing as how in storyline purposes, Ted's father brought him to the WWE,, and eventually had the Underfaker, etc. But Honestly, we would need a solid year od Ted being on, or at the top of the card to even consider it.

I almost think that one of two things will happen, Taker will lose in some spooktacular fashion, give some sort of farewell, spooky speech, message from "beyond" and go away. Or he will retire a winner. Maybe have word leak out that he is getting close to hanging it up, so people somewhat expect it. Have him go into a match with whoever he chooses. Put on one more classic, win with the tombstone and walk away, stop at the top of the ramp, one last hand raise, a tip of the cap to the audience and ride off into the sunset.

I honestly think the rules will have to be broken for his character since it has maintained an aura of invinciblity for so long. Its gonna be a tough one to send off. But he is 45 this year and can't be doing this for too much longer (turned pro at 19).

So, what are your thoughts on David Otunga, Sam?

  12. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

SUPER GREEN. He has the look and I think he does have a certain charisma about him, although to me at least, he comes of as forcing it. Very much like The Rock when he started out. The difference is, of course, The Rock could go in the ring.

I like the NXT concept, I am just worried that a stigma will be attached to anyone who comes out of this show to the main roster. They are being portrayed as something less tan worthy of WWE Superstar status, and while that may be true, it makes it awfully hard to shake that mindset from potential fans if and when they get into the ring against other Superstars.

Otunga needs about two years of season AT LEAST before he is to be seen on national television wrestling. If you look at the way he sold Justin Gabriel's kick during the end of the Battle Royal on Tuesday, you will know what I am talking about. The guy simply can't go in the ring. However, he will be great as an entertainer. Which means he has a shot.

Personally, I have experience with Danielson, so I am inclined to root for him, and I think this show is set up for him to eventually win, and challenge The Miz for the U.S. title. Plans can change, but that is my guess on how it will shake out.

I also think having Punk's rookie eventually join the SES needs to happen. Cut that stupid haircut of his andbecome a full fledged member. I do think that that guys looks like John Cena after being in a taning bed for far too long.

Justin Gabriel has a legitimate shot of making it even without winning this competition. His ability in the ring will win over fans, much like Evan Bourne did. I see him on Smackdown after this show is over.

As for the others, I just don't know if they will fit in or not. Skip Sheffield has a look, but is awful in the ring. Michael Tarver is okay, but doesn't stand out in any real fashion. Christian's rookie is...okay, but I don't see anything special about him.

And Jericho's guy, Wade Barrett, is a good all around talent, but might be even better on the mic in the grand scheme of things (as an announcer).

Yeah it's definitely going to be interesting/tricky to see how they will go about announcing it's going to be his last match without him breaking character. I can't even picturing him coming out and giving a farewell speech like HBK or Flair did. I think something cool for him to do would be have a career ending match with someone and he gives the wrestler the tombstone and goes to pin him and stops looks up at the sky, gets the mike and says something like 'I'm the only reason why you won't rest in peace tonight', he gets on one knee does his Undertaker pose and walks out thus losing the match via forfeit. Then on RAW the next night he can address the situation by saying he gave it his all and he thanks the fans but he realized it was his time to go and instead of someone ending his career, he decided to do it on his terms like he's been doing for over 20 years. Then he can end it by saying something like 'the power and spirit of the Undertaker won't ever rest in peace and that for the wrestlers here now and in the future to know that the dead man will always be watching and you never know when the lights will go out and the gong will hits', then the lights can go out with his music playing, smoke fills the ring and when the lights go back on just his hat and coat are left in the ring. Sure it's a little cheesy but at least it doesn't totally break his character and it's a different kind of farewell speech.

Just saw the news about Kanyon. He was apparently biopolar so that could have played a role. It's too bad, the guy was actually pretty talented and underrated as a performer.

caught some of Smackdown last night. saw Ziggler beat Khali, which made sense because of the time off the big guy is taking.

but i was very surprised to see him lose to the sleeper hold though. i don't think i have seen anyone put away with the sleeper since Piper used it as a finisher in the late 80's/early 90's.

wonder what made them go with that as his finisher? has he been using it for awhile? i got the impression he hasn't from the announcers reaction.

and i don't mind it, because it is a legit fight finisher, but i would think they would sell it better as a rear naked choke in this day and age. Ziggler even sunk in the hooks to make it "inescapable," as much as anyone can against Khali.

Shockingly...homosexuality is pretty rampant throughout the wrestling business. Pat Patterson is openly and has been for quite a long time, even before tolerance caught up with reality. And a current wrestler named Orlando Jordan is an open bisexual and his character portrays the same thing.

Steve Lombardi traded sexual favors for a push way back when and honestly, that happens more than anyone even knows. Or at least, it used too.

Who's deada than Kanyon? Sorry...had to.

Christopher Daniels got the axe today and is now back to ring of honor.
I have only watched TNA a few times before the Hogan era but have always hated Daniels' ring outfits. I couldn't take him serious with the strange cape and choker he would wear time to time.

I don't see him in WWE. He just doesn't have the size Vince likes. If he did come to WWE I would think he'd bounce around the lower midcard for the duration of his contract.

Daniels is in his late 30's at this point, and I don't see him in the WWE either. Although if he did come to the WWE, I would wonder if they would have him go through the NXT process for the second season...? Might be too old to successfully pull that off.

TNA is making a mistake letting him go, assuming they let him go thinking that he can't make them any money. Daniels is an EXCELLENT performer and great on the mic...and a good dude personally to boot. I have a feeling that something else is going on. I'll try to find out if he, in fact, asked for his release.

P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if Samoa Joe leaves as soon as he can as well.

yeah, i dont see him going there either, because honestly, if they wanted him he would have been there by now. but i think he has everything necessary to be a WWE star minus the size.

but then again Evan Bourne, Rey, and Santino aren't big guys either. i would think he would be a good guy to have on the roster for the young guys to learn from.

and he would also probably make a good road agent as well when his in-ring days are over.

I actually can't kill either WCW or the WWE with the way they used Kanyon. He was really nothing more than a solid mid-card worker, he didn't have the look or personality to be a star.

I was just thinking...Daniels COULD work in WWE if he came in to work with CM Punk and the Straight Edge Society. His character fits in overall, and the shaved head he sports obviously makes him a fit. Plus, he is a name, talent and a proven talker.

The question would be, if he would then break off to fight with Punk or what the heirarchy is for him underneath Punk. Maybe you have Luke and Serena be "blamed" for a bunch of Punk's losses (assuming he continues to lose) and Punk basically tells them that if they don't shape up, then he will bring his advisor/mentor/etc. to help further the cause. Luke and Serena could be somewhat concerned.

Have Punk have a match, Daniels is sitting ringside, dressed in black, sunglasses, etc. Punk looks at him, but nothing further. Later in the match, Gallows distracts the ref, Daniels hops the rail STOs Punk's opponent and goes back to ringside and sits before the ref knows what happened. Punk pins his opponent, nods towards Daniels and then leaves.

This continues for a few weeks, until Daniels reveals himself to be a confidant/friend/peer of Punk's. I would have him continue to wear suits and black. Basically keep him asociated with Punk, but present him as someone not under Punk's thumb or his lackey or whatever.

From there, it opens up a bunch of options for that faction. I could see that working.

As for Kanyon, I thought he was a solid mid-carder as Ray Finkle said. Not everyone is a mian eventer who was used incorrectly. Kanyon was a hard working, athletic mid sized worker who I thought, did real well for himself. I feel like he could have still contributed beyond when he was let go, but I never saw him as a top of the card talent or anything.

I basically see Paul Burchill the same way. Talented guy, never going to be a main eventer, but a solid contributor who doesn't embarrass himself.

  35. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Yeah, not sure if it Tommy and Jeff Hardy just fooling around on the internet or if there is merit to it. Tommy is older/experienced, has a name and a hard working nice guy, but I honestly don't see what he brings to the table at this point. Not when you are letting "home grown" talents like Christopher Daniels and Consequences Creed go. Guys who can still contribute in the ring, have a following with your current fan base and potentially something to build on, character wise over time (at least with Creed).

Dreamer, if true, is selling out all of his goodwill with the WWE in order to feel relevant and earn some decent ( I imagine) scratch. In other word,s it is a cash grab, sellout type of move. Which is fine, I am a propponent of wrestlers being able to earn a paycheck doing this for as long as they can, but I just don't see what TNA gets out of this.

I don't imagine any new eyeballs will turn in that weren't going to already to see Tommy debut with them. And I can't imagine the news will resonante with those that will find out after the fact and force them to want to tune in the following week. And I am not sure what Tommy brings to the front end of their business (in front of the curtain) that can't be filled by someone else already on the roster.

Now, if he is coming to be an agent and work with the younger talent behind the scenes...I could totally get with that and would probably encourage it and look for signs of his influence in the younger guys. But honestly, it smacks of grabbing a guy with some name recognition, just for the sake of doing so on TNA's part. Which was essentially what screwed over WCW in the long run.

Agreed completely. The only thing Dreamer brings of value is probably him being a backstage agent to help the younger guys. If he did randomly show up on Impact I doubt he even gets a pop and if he somehow does, the next time he appears you'll hear crickets (unless it's in Philly).

Why is it that anytime a wrestling announcer says "the rules are simple" it's immediately followed by match stipulations that are incredibly complex?

Sorry watching TNA ... and instead I flipped to ROH because they're already to the wrestling.

Good to see that Jack Swagger is doing the whole 'World Champ Sheamus' gimmick. Did Randy Orton really need to win that match tonight? How does that help Swagger at all.

Also seriously who did Kofi piss off?
