This whole group won't be popular here. 5 picked Dan Williams, 1 Sergio Kindle, 1 C.J.Spiller and I won't reveal who the last analyst picked...you just need to see for yourself. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-mock-draft.htm
There is some good stuff right here on Kyle Wilson. He had a good pro-day. There is also a couple of videos there. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=68129&draftyear=2010&genpos=CB
Why assume Smith? He is our worst tackling corner. IF we move a corner to FS, IMO it should be Davis or W. Allen. Davis is a good tackler, very physical and much faster. IMO, he has more developed ball skills and is just a more natural ball athlete.
As for Kyle Wilson, IMO, he is the best corner in this draft, not Joe Haden. He is very physical besides being a very good all around corner vs run or pass. All the Boise St DBs love to hit. Some even borderline. As a unit, the Boise St DBs took a back seat to nobody in the physicality dept. Of course there has been not even a hint of the Phins being interested in him, so this seems like a really weird choice to give us in a mock draft. I would not be upset one bit if we did take him. With the question of which corner to move to FS if we did take him, well how about if we took him to be the FS and leave our CBs where they are. Wilson definitely has the skills to be a good FS.
I'm not saying Kyle Wilson can't play, but at 12?? A cornerback we don't need?? Ridiculous. And why do so many people want to move players who are excelling and growing at their position to another position? That never made sense to me. Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are growing into a pair of really good corners and people want to move them to safety?? Randy Starks has become a very good defensive end and people want to move him to NT. WHY?? It just doesn't make sense.
I like Wilson a lot, but he's not a need and #12 is probably to early to take him. That being said, Dan Williams is the pick I least want at #12. IMO he's over rated and a bad fit. Probably the next guy I least like at #12 is Kindle. He's athletic but raw and at this point one-dimensional. And that one-dimension doesn't fit how we would use him. Spiller, I'd be okay with. He wouldn't be my first choice (probably my 4th choice among the realistic possibilities). But he would meet our need for a play maker on offense and I do think he'll be a really good, maybe great pro. He would be one of those picks for me where I've seen enough good that I would just be trusting the F.O. With Williams and Kindle, I wouldn't be trusting. I would think they made a stupid pick.
Just throwing this out there. What IF we signed Ken Hamlin,Smith doesn't move from his position and we don't draft a CB in the 1st? I see the FO doing this before taking that CB.
Agreed. This is why the only people I really consider "experts" are McShay, Boomer, CK, Scott Wright, and a very selective few others.
I'm not sure if any of us even thought about him as a selection. The thought tho however does provoke the imagination on how we could use him. With the loss of Nate and Will Allen coming off a major knee injury the thought of bringing in the best Cover CB in the draft isn't out of the question. I find the thought a bit intriguing and a bit refreshing. In my own imagination I have beat the Dan Williams, Dez etc draft choices to death. This just gives us another option that none of us had even considered.
IMO Will Allen is the only guy who could realistically move to FS. His age and experience would be assets there, and it might add a few years to his career as well as keep him in the starting lineup. Still, Wilson at 12 doesnt make much sense from a value standpoint. I wouldnt be shocked if we took a corner in the 34rd round or beyond, but we have too many holes to be making luxury picks. E. Thomas, Dez, E. Griffin or trade down...
no one considered it because it isnt going to happen with all the needs this horrid LB corps has a CB would be a big mistake they already spent two picks building that position last year and they did quite well they will go a different direction in the first round this year can you say OLB
I'm all aboard that Spiller train. I would be estatic if Thomas and Mclain were of the board and the selection was CJ. A definite plan for the future pick. Ronnie and Ricky aren't gonna be around forever.
This is the type of post that you make that tends to get under other posters skin. You don't know any more than anyone else knows. You may think you do, but you don't. What you have is your opinion just like others have theirs. Their opinion is just as valid as yours so please get over yourself. When the rest of us discuss topics we (for the most part) deal with hypotheticals and possibilities. We consider both the pros and cons. We use those to help form our opinions. No one else here that I am aware of slams the door on other peoples opinions simply because they disagree. We give other posters the benefit of the doubt and allow them to explore all avenues. That's what makes this forum enjoyable. You are certainly entitled to your 'opinion' but not any more than I or anyone else is entitled theirs. As already posted by me I never even considered this as an option until I saw this link. Once I saw it I first asked myself why would this be a good pick for us I then went and tried to reason why Scott Zucker thought we would take a CB. Then Fin-Omenal Hypothesized what the ramifications would be. That's called a discussion. It's what I enjoy most about this site and why I keep coming back.
Facegun.jpg I keep seeing less AP and more Reggie Bush when I look at Spiller. And we already have Cobbs as a Bush-Lite.
come on now of course everyone is entitled to their opinion i just dont see us using the #12 pick on a CB maybe somewhere in the draft but not there too many pressing needs at other positions i would love to hear your reasoning as to why we might use that pick on that position. we drafted early last year to solidify the position with what became two starting CB's besides zucker has haden going five picks after wilson which wont happen imo
The difference between this response and the one I replied to is night and day. I mean that in a good way. Bottom line bro is I don't see us taking a CB. If I had to place I bet I would bet against it. However it doesn't mean that it is impossible though. Especially with this kid (Wilson). He's a stud. If the regime considers him that special as well he is a possibility. We lost Nate Jones and Allen is coming off a serious knee injury. That leaves us short a CB so who knows. It's just another thing for us to talk about while we wait for this years draft.
Man I was so disappointed when we lost nate jones. the guy really fit that nickel position well. look for will allen to take over that spot in the nickel now imo. i still wouldnt rule Will out at FS although it seems unlikely. Jason allen still intrigues me at CB. That is obviously his best fit in the secondary he filled in and played very well. he makes this football team again. we know he is a bust as far as where he was drafted but still can add to what we have now. Highly unlikely we go CB at 12 but everyone here has been wrong more than once..... even me
I gotta say I love your new writing style. Sentences > Bullet items IMO. You bring up the exact line of reasoning that makes picking this years best CB intriguing. We lost our Nickle and Allen is injured. If the FO is thinking about moving any of our CBs to FS then what better way to accomplish this than by picking up the drafts best CB? The kids a stud. It wouldnt be a horrid pick IMO. I agree with many others here that Williams is the one pick I'm most afraid of. I really think he is over rated and not worthy of the #12 selection. So if given the choice between Wilson or Williams I would take Wilson every time. PS. Thank you for joining the discussion !!!
I think there is a much bigger chance we trade down then taking Dan Williams or these other overated players.
I don't have a lot against him, but you may want to read this if you haven't. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/31/todd-mcshay-backlash-builds/
Picking Kyle Wilson would tie up a lot of money and resources in the DB position when the LB and NT positions need to be addressed badly.
