Numerous sites have reported Ford and Wright are scheduled for workouts for the Dolphins. http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...coby-ford-major-wright-prepping-for-workouts/ Both Ford (WR) and Wright (FS) can really play and both are Florida natives. This should be an interesting meet and greet. I can't wait to see what comes of this...
I like Ford as a low round possibly. Major Wright not so much: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/major-wright?id=496749
I'm a gator fan, trust me I can give you the skinny on him. Maj loves going after the big hit, and boy can he deliver it just go back to that first deep pass play in the National Championship last year. However this takes him out of position alot and he often he can bounce right off the guy. Also I'd say his coverage skills are average at best.
I like Ford much better than Wright, but Wright will develop. The best part about these two players is that they will slide down to the 3-5 rounds depending on what happens. They are hardly high profile players but this is a good sign. It shows that Parcells is looking under ever rock in this draft. Bess went totally undrafted and he found his way into our offense out of no where. I have said it before and I will say it again, expect a landmark draft by this front office. Everyone will be smiling when the draft is over. I would be happy to have either of these guys on the team, the will develop into great players. What I like best about this front office is their philosophy that at any time a new name will end up on the roster to compete, and this happens 12 months a year. Every time they turn over the bottom of the roster we get closer to the Superbowl.
Pass on both... If we're going to go after a WR, he needs to be the answer...a legitimate candidate to take the #1 spot, not fight Cam or Ginn for the #3 or #4 spot, that's a waste of a pick. I like Ford, he's a local kid.....but he's not the answer Wright looked awesome his freshman year, like he would be something special.....well, he's not unfortunately.
The funny thing about making the jump to the NFL is that you never know will become a star. Sometimes number one picks with great expectations are huge flops and luke warm college players end up being stars. I wish I had that crystal ball
Don't be surprised if these guys are the 'B' option. The FO might double down on WR and FS like they did last year with CB and WR. Maybe they take Dez Bryant and Taylor Mays in the 1st and 2nd rounds and they take these guys in the 3rd and 4th. You never know.
what if we get a big WR AND ford? relax guys.....ford would be a 3rd or 4th round pick. dont think he would be asked to be "the answer"
Knowing these guys they are looking at just about everyone. The very idea that Ford and Wright are even being considered illustrates that. These guys are pretty creative and unpredictable when it comes to finding talent, and its almost impossible to second guys them. Everyone from the un-drafted players to those in the CFL seem to find their way to us.
I'm not thrilled with either guy. Ford is a straight line speed guy. I think he lacks the lateral ability to excel in the pros. Also another potential #2 WR is not a need. We have a ton of those guys. Sure we want a PR but I prefer a quick guy for that. Wright doesn't have great coverage skills. We need a guy who can sit back and play center field and not let anything get behind him. I don't think Wright is likely to be that guy for us.
