lol Unless you want to trade me Vontae for a pauper's sum I don't think we'll be able to do anything.
Well when you start this thing with only 5 draft picks and only 1 of which is in the 1st 2 rounds, you are kind of limited.
lots of players are overvalued, undervalued around the league in this thing... all about perception. Not to pick on Boik (he's a grown man, he can take it) but he just traded Donald Brown for a fourth? What did he do to lower his value from where he was traded last year (bottom of round one) to the top of round four? I can see trading him for a second, maybe a third... but a fourth? I don't even know that you tried making a trade... Did you come into this thing and then look at what I was doing and say "hell, I can't beat that, why even bother?" (pretty smart if you did... )
It's funny how his stock has apparently dropped since the senior bowl. I saw him rated in the second round area. I thought he did very well at the SB practices, him and Taylor Price impressed me the most out of the WR's. Interested to see where he is drafted in a few weeks. Raiders?
I need to get into this round... I no longer need to get into the 105- 110 area (although I would not mind) Anybody that wants to trade a pick in this round...I am game.
I was disappointed in his route running at the Senior Bowl. He had trouble separating at times when it was underneath stuff. He did sit in his route, took too many steps to stop and didn't show the short area quickness IMO. Vertically though, he did damage. Message me.
I understand your point on the Brown trade but here is my perspective. There's two points I think I need to explain here. Point one is that I liked Donald Brown a lot coming out of U Conn last year. i liked him so much he was my highest rated back coming out of the draft last year. What changed is probably the next question you have. Well in watching some video on Brown last year there's two things I realized. One is that the "shiftiness" I saw from Brown at UConn has not translated in the NFL. Last year his running style was very stiff. So I compared it to some film from his time at UConn to see if I was just seeing things. Turns out the only thing that really changed was that he was able to get away with it at UConn because what really changed is the level of competition. His running style, from what I have seen simply does not translate the way I thought it would. The only thing worse then not admitting your mistake is not being able to recoup some of the value lost. I think I salvaged that. His YPC average last year furthers this claim to a degree, though the Colts OL in reality is not a great run blocking line. Still, with Hardesty who I drafted earlier in the day I found a much more decisive runner who seems to have much more wiggle in his step. So in re-evaluating the way I watch RB's I looked through some old film and the player most similar to Hardesty I found in terms of style is Marcus Allen. Im not saying Hardesty would be on that level, thats not a reasonable expectation. But Hardesty is a patient runner with a low pad level like Allen. Hardesty, like Allen, also is a classic one cut back meaning he will pick the hole to run through and not waste movement in the backfield like I caught Brown doing quite a bit of. Lastly, in Hardesty I found a back that runs with power that Donald Brown simply doesnt have. Put this guy in a zone blocking scheme or behind an OL with some very good run blockers (i.e. Phil Loadholt) and hes going to have quite a few 1000 yard seasons if his knee checks out (which it does according to my teams doctors ). The second part of the idea behind dealing Brown is quite simply a need at other positions. Having 4 running backs would have been overkill in my opinion. Donald Brown was 4th on my depth chart at RB after I picked Hardesty. However, I really wanted a good backup NT and I think Arthur Jones is that guy. Jones as a 2nd stringer would be more valuable then a 4th string back and since this is the pick Brown was traded for the comparison holds weight. In a lesser draft Jones is a top 60 player. He still may yet be one if his knee checks out. To me there was value in getting him in the fourth. It was a position of serious need in a 3-4 scheme and in the week Brown was on the block, I really didnt get a better offer.
If Arthur Jones is healthy, he's got a lot of Randy Starks in his game IMO. I think he could do damage as a 4-3 DT or a 3-4 end. I was going to take Jones in this round if I didn't have Gerald McCoy at 6.
so in other words your team will have no chemistry and will flounder for most of the year as it learns how to play with all the new additions
Thanks. I hate drafting wide receivers but there are some that are an exception and White was one of them. He adds to my average WR group. I don't think I'll ever win the GM league because I ignore some skill positions but I'm ok with it, haha.
BTW, someone needs to take my BPA right now, because I don't want to be considering him if he falls to my pick.
I think I know who adam is picking here. EDIT: Woops. I didn't even realize he picked ten minutes ago.
well I mean the OL needed some serious upgrades, we needed to get some running backs that dont suck, and we were transitioning to a 3-4. Additionally, we previously had a Tampa 2 cover scheme now we're going to play man press so the responsibilities of the DB's changed. So its quite an overhaul but I think things will be just fine. After all we still have Peyton Manning and you dont. Jones offers a lot of versatility. I believe he could be a very good 5 technique nose tackle in the Jason Ferguson mold.
Exactly. I like it cause Im enjoying the trading and the negotiations as well as learning more about the different picks available.
