Oh wait, sorry Dolphin fans I didn't mean to get everyone's panties in a bind. Am I in the wrong forum? If so I apologize.Just wanted to let the experts know that Parcells(or whoever u want to say) is NOT going to draft a WR in the 1st round. Do I have any proof or connections ?...NO Does is seem like a the logical choice?.....YES This team needs defense first and foremost. I can't help you with providing a link from a gumball reporter,a ****head quote from the Swami or a drunken prediction from Kiper. This is MY expert opinion! What's it going to be from you guys in the upcoming weeks leading to the Draft? Let's try to avoid a classic Jets Draft meltdown when we make OUR first pick,OK? Dez Bryant will not be a Dolphin anytime soon so let's welcome whomever it might be without the nasty divorce proceedings. Let's do this right for once.
oh boy here we go again i want brandon graham on this defense but everyone already knows that reminds me of lamar woodley. an OC's nightmare
I like your boldness there. All I ask from the Front Office is that they draft well from Round 1 thru Round 7. I couldn't care less about who they draft first. Sure it is good for discussion but no one really knows who they are planning to draft. So I just pray they draft the right people who will fill our needs and then if we have more picks available, go for the best player available. I could be wrong but that is my thoughts on it.
My cousin caddied for Stephen Ross a couple of days ago but he wouldn't cough up any information But I also think we NEED to go defense with Earl Thomas or B. Graham. and Demaryius Thomas(WR GT) in the 2nd.
Well Bryant is still a very realistic possibility based on our need for a WR. However, I'd rather have Gresham at 12 if we go offense. I think he could be our number one option in the passing game, opening up the underneath stuff for our receivers. The biggest thing missing from our passing game last year was the seam stretching TE. When David Martin was playing in 08 with the same receiving core, three receivers managed to catch 50 passes at least. Put Jermaine Gresham in and I think our receiving core becomes better.
I can't wait until the draft is over so we can stop bickering about who we should draft and move onto bickering about who they drafted or should have drafted.
i just wanna throw this out there Does anyone know what happened a couple years ago when we chose a WR instead of a Linebacker........ I rest my case
Dez Bryant is heads and shoulders above Ginn. Pat Willis would likely be the third/fourth best defender behind Berry, Suh/McCoy. Willis is superior to any linebacker in this draft by far. Neither Ginn nor Willis really have any relation to what we should do in this draft. Besides, we added our Willis already in Dansby.
On the contrary, we DO need a WR, and we desperately need one with first round talent. Henne will NEVER achieve his potential as a QB without one. Parcells, Ireland and Sparano would have to be blind idiots not to address this glaring need.
But haven't you heard? Dez Bryant is the second coming of Jesus. If we pass on him, we will be doomed for all of eternity.
I wanted Pat Willis that year.... okay to me it is simple, what did Miami do and didnt do on defense last year Do----stopped the run (somewhat), put pressure on the QB for the most part... Didnt do--stop a TE, and most important allowed WR's to run free down the middle of the field (most important).. Opposing teams are gonna look at Miami and say they are gonna put pressure on our QB, however we can throw on them all day long deep, and often.... Result--Need somebody back to make plays, enough is enough, ET....Earl Thomas baby...
It goes both ways: Does anyone know what happened 7 years ago when we chose a linebacker instead of a WR? (Eddie ****ing Moore) My point is that you can't make generalizations using this logic.
Miami didn't do anything good on defense last season. They couldn't stop the run. They couldn't consistently rush the passer. They couldn't stop the passing game. Yet, we have some on here that want to use our valuable high draft picks on a wide receiver, of all positions. You want to use the 12th pick in the draft on the most dependent position on the field.
Not true KB....YES your are right after fergie went down they couldnt stop anybody, but for a good 2/3 of the season that were top ten in rushing yards allowed and gain..... that being said their rushing defense need to be improved as well...haha!
Actually, Miami's rushing defense was pathetic over the last 12 games. In that time span, they gave up an average of 136 yards rushing per game.
Yup. It could be Dan Williams. It's probably the most responsible choice for the long term health of the franchise. Least sexy one.
They use the #12 pick on Dan Williams and I'd be willing to bet this FO isn't around long enough to even see what he develops into. If they wanna be safe, take Earl Thomas.....at least he'll see the field and not be stuck behind players that are basically as good as he is.
You presume Dan Williams will stick, though. I don't see a reason to suggest he'll be a top player at his position in the NFL. Pretty good, but not #12 good. Frankly, I hope he goes before our pick and pushes someone else down.
I have to agree that he's not ideal at #12, in terms of talent, especially with Cam Thomas and Brian Price around later. Terence Cody will use up someone else's NT pick too, so there should be plenty to go around in this draft. Don;t agree that they would lose their jobs in a few years. NT is the crux of a 3-4. Ferguson cannot be relied upon at this point. Soliai can;t man that position 80% of the time, he just hasn;t matured enough yet as a player (including physically and technique-wise). He may never mature into a great Nose. Williams is like home insurance, you should have it, you know it's important, but you still aren't excited to go get it. You don't appreciate it until a catastrophe strikes (like your NT going down or retiring) and you are covered. I suppose the thing Dez would be best for is trying to catch up in the fourth quarter if our run defense can;t hold up this year. Honestly, I want a WR, but with Bryant's question marks and our defensive issues at key positions, I'm very happy taking one of the really good options in the second round like Demaryius Thomas, if he makes it there, same for Golden Tate, or rolling the dice later in the 5th/6th/7th on a Danario Alexander Emmanuel Sanders or Seyi Ajirotutu. If we don't take Williams at #12, I'd hope we trade down a few slots and get Brandon Graham. At least he can help pressure QB's and still be on the field vs. the run.
As long as we don't throw away any more picks on Pat White's we'll be ok... That being said I'd prefer to take Dez if he's available because it is the team's most glaring need... I read one analysis which said he's the best available since Calvin Johnson and I'd kill to have that guy! If not I'm hoping for Kindle, Williams or Spiller.
You mean players BETTER than he is. Dan Williams will be the second highest paid defender on the team, and he will not start a single game. He'll ride the pine and dream of ways to spend his 15+ million dollar bonus check.
Draft Bryant at this point would be irresponsible. Anyone hoping the Dolphins would draft him should just learn to love another player, because you will be disappointed on draft day.
