I am a 50/50 fan between the Mets and Marlins. If they met in the playoffs, I have no idea who i would root for.

As for fanbases...the Heat has a reliable fan base when they are contending. Next season, when they have a contending team, it will be one of the hottest tickets anywhere, like when Shaq was in town.

The reason the marlins have bad turnout is that that stadium is horrible to watch baseball, along with the weather.

And, thus, traitorous dog. That's not a tough choice at all, you root for the hometown guys in the Marlins.

Preaching to the choir on both points.

Section...The Jets and Knicks are from New York. That should tell you who you need to root for. Come on man.

As for comparing my two favorite teams....It is not even close as to which organization is better run.

The Marlins manage their farm system better, they draft and scout better, and they spend wisely. (when they spend any money)

The Mets have been a disaster and an embarrassment since the Pedro Signing. The Marlins just refuse to spend that little extra that would put them over the top. Hopefully in the new stadium, they will.

Dude..I am 36 years old..I played baseball since I was 9..I was a huge Hubie Brooks fan. I hated the Yankees, so I became a fan of the anti-yankees...

they then became good in 1983, culminating with their championship in 86.

But trust me, I partied hard after the 97 and 03' wins.

When the Yankees play the Mets or Red Sox, the correct response isn't to root for the Mets or Red Sox, it's to hope for the Goodyear Blimp to crash on the field.

I don't think anyone is taking things out of the context of 162 games. Still 161 left to be played, indeed.

Just... there's no reason for some of these defensive gaffes, especially after Fredi's been here for, what, four years now? This is silly.

When watching the Yanks and Sawx..it is like watching a child molester fight a mugger.

They both suck...but you kinda root for the mugger (Sawx) to kill the Child Molester (Yanks)

The New York Yankees are un-american.

Now if we can get you to realize the Mets are the Yanks' co-conspirators, all will be well.

After all, someone had to hold the kid down.

Dude, if anyone should be hating a team it should be the mets hating the Marlins after that 07 and 08 collapse you guys finished us off with. Oh, the pain :(

I still dont hate the Marlins though...certainly not like I hate Atlanta and definitely not like I hate the Phillies. I mean the Phillies are right on the same footing as the Jets...

I'm amazed how so many Fins fans can still find it in their hearts to root for Noo Yawk in other sports. Well, it's your end-of-season heartbreak. :knucks:

well I mean I was born and raised in NY and all my other teams are ny teams except the phins and canes. The first football game I ever watched though was jets dolphins during marino's rookie year and so I immediately became a dolphin fan at the ripe old age of five. It just stuck. But the fact that I am a phins fan is what has had a few people befuddled. Given the choice I made of being a jets or dolphin fan I know I made the right decision. The only south Florida sports teams I really don't like are the panthers and the heat.

If you had to pick an NY baseball team, it would have been best if you picked the one that doesn't compete against a South Florida baseball team.

Marlins up 5-1 in the top of the sixth. Nice effort from the guys after that disastrous opener... well, Hanley could have fielded that ball better earlier in the game, but hey.

We barely got through the 7th. Why is it that we have to deal with this amateur hour stuff practically every game?

Tied 6-6 thanks to crappy bullpen pitching, with an assist from incompetent defense. Right now, Fredi is thinking "I wish I had been fired."

I don't know what's worse, the fact that this happens every season (points to Fredi not doing his job) or the fact that we cycle through a bunch of relievers and closer JAGs every season with the same result (points to Loria's wallet.)

Am I the only Dolphins/Heat/Marlins fan who doesn't hate the Jets/Knicks/Yankees/Mets? I root for all of those teams once mine is eliminated... I hate Boston sports more than anything. **** Boston. I love New York second to my city. Lots of family ties; most of us came to FL after Jamaica... NY the rest.

Though right now I'm hating whoever is responsible for our bullpen more than the Mets.

    another question then...

Am I the only one who could care less for the head coaches on ANY of my favorite teams? Don't mind Sparano, see potential in Spo and Randy, really hate this other piece of **** we've got here.

Tim Wood throws some strikes (imagine that!) and saves the game in the 10th.

Fredi needs to ***** this team out fierce. This crap was unacceptable tonight.

The 14 hits and only 7 runs frustrates the hell out of me. This feels like an extension of last year, get tons of hits, leave a bunch of runners on base and relinquish a thin lead with the help of a crappy bullpen.

Well, at least the games will be interesting to watch.

I was watching the Heat game instead of the Marlins (too early to start watching baseball). I have the ESPN Scorecenter App on the iPhone which has push notifications, so while the Heat were going back and forth against Elton Brand, my phone would go off between innings. Early on I said to myself, "Hey looks like Nolasco is really giving it hard to the Mets. Awesome." Then I look over, and its the 9th and its 6-6 and I'm like, "This is why baseball is an awesome sport/why I hate the Marlins/why I love the Marlins," all within the same second.

Did Leo Nunez close? What the hell? Early on I saw Cantu homered, Hanley homered...what the hell happened?

LOL Section..I was a HUGE Mets fan in 1986.. After that I listened to EVERY SINGLE GAME on 560 for 3 years. Every single game on the radio from the first inning on.... Bob Murphy and Gary Thorn..

Ahhh.. The good old Mets.. Rafael Santana, Hojo, Doc, Sid, Ron Darling, Hernandez, Ojeda, Oroscoe (hated him and McDowell, boy did they blow some big saves in 87), Dykstra, Backman, Strawberry, Mookie.... Ahhh the memories.. My heyday for baseball. The Marlins killed baseball for me. Watching that empty stadium SICKENS me.

Nolasco ran out of gas, Pinto sucked, Nunez choked. That all led to the Mets tying the score via stupidity like our relievers throwing 4 balls with the bases loaded.

It was a total collapse of bullpen pitching. We got lucky in that we managed to keep the game tied and go to extra innings, then Tim Wood saved the game.
