Graphic designer Kevin Morgan came up with the sketches, and a concept actually appeared at SEMA. It was scrapped however. Too bad...WAY better looking than the Camaro, IMO. Here's the sketches: And here's the concept. Personally, I think they should have made the one that looks like the '74 Super Duty. LOVE the honeycomb wheels though!
camero = all time favorite car. not gonna win me over. that does look nice tho. except the weird bit on the hood of the first pic.
not sure I like all the trans am labels, but not a bad looking car. I always enjoy how they "modernize" their older looks.
I might be the minority here (wait....) but here's an idea: MAKE A NEW CAR INSTEAD OF TRYING TO REMAKE OLD ONES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. The retro thing was old 4 years ago when this madness started. When will it end. I think only American companies think it's a good idea.
another giant 2 door that gets bad gas mileage and doesn't have a good dual purpose. The thing I like about the Beemers and Audis and Mercs is they can be sporty, come in a 4 door and can serve a dual purpose. Nothing like a 300 hp / 4 door / grocery getter
For you import boys, yes. For musclecar lovers...and I think I speak for all of them....shaddap. Yea...nothing like a $50K grocery getter. These cars aren't made for that purpose. Obviously, you're not an enthusiast, so it's not for you. I have a $13K grocery getter. That AND my toy cost less combined than the cars you mentioned. And by the way...the new 4.7 6 cylinder Mustang has 305 horse and gets 30 mpg...for alot less than any of those three "look how big my wallet is" cars.
haha, I know. after I typed that I was thinking that it's a totally different market than the muscle car enthusiast. Right now I'm into the whole dual purpose for my car, since it is a huge pain in my butt getting a baby in and out of a two door
Might I suggest what I have then? Chevy HHR. Cheap as all hell, looks sporty, gets 30 mpg, and you can haul a TON of **** in it. MIne looks like this only in silver and without the moonroof.
I had one as a loaner from MINI when I took my car in....really like the inside but I can't get over the looks...I just don't dig it. But back to the Trans Am, I do like it better than the Camero, but they probably didn't bring it out since they had to know Pontiac was gonna get the axe. Kid Rock is somewhere crying right now.
The Camaro has the bigger name, and GM knew they could probably only afford (hehe) to go ahead on one of them. So the Camaro it was. That's my guess anyway. It really is too bad that rising fuel costs and enviornmental issues have nearly killed the market (compared to what it was in the 60's and 70's). But yeah, take off the gay eagle and that car is badass. A LOT of people still love the Trans Am. My mom had one when I was a kid, and I always liked it, even though it was on the side of the road more than the actual road.
well maybe they will use the concept car in a remake of "Smoky and the Bandit." though no one could replace Jackie "Buford T. Justice" Gleason if they do remake that movie.
I had a '77 T/A and an '84 Formula. We took the "gay eagle" off the '77 and airbrushed a black widow spider in it's place. That car was bad ***...and I have NO pix of it! Gleason was amazing in that flick. My ringtone right now is "Give me a diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and make it quick, I'm in a goddamn hurry!"
I find it funny...are any of you haters gunna go out and buy one? Then shaddap! There's way more hideous things on wheels to "omg" hope they stop making. I'll take a retro Stang or Camaro over a trendy-*** Smartcar, an "I'm reducing my carbon footprint so I'm superior to you" Prius, or a geez-my-balls-have-been-cut-off minivan any day of the week.
