You guys act like the Steelers called the Dolphins and asked for a low round pick and we declined. How do you know our front office knew he was even available for that cheap? My opinion on Santonio Holmes? He's good. And despite his off field troubles I've always seen him as a good guy who made a few bad decisions. It sucks to say but this was a good move by the Jets, suspension or not. As for the Dolphins, I don't know if this makes me want defense more at 12, or makes me a little more inclined to accept Dez Bryant. Oh yeah, and **** the Jets.
Cheer up dude. Theyre getting a bunch of players that werent wanted by thier old teams, or anyone else. Lito Sheppard, LT, Edwards, Cromartie, Holmes, basically the teams were just trying to get rid of them. Maybe the Jets get more out of them than the old teams did. But you know what they say about bad apples...
It's quite simple, as the GM of the Steelers you send out a quick email to all 31 teams saying Holmes can be had, make your best offer tonight only. I fail to see how this was done because Holmes is worth more than a fifth even with the suspension looming.

eh, if we play the jets in the first 4 weeks, and it's likely we will, then i don't care about them getting holmes. He'll be suspended during that time.
Its the best I can do at this point. Hard to explain not giving up a 4th rounder for Holmes unless you planned on doing something in the draft. My only solace is that no one else gave up more than a 5th either so maybe all the other teams know something we dont.
That can't be it. Either there is more to the deal (it hasn't been announced yet) or some other shoe is about to drop (suspension, etc). Even if he is suspended four games, you'd think he'd fetch more than a 5th rounder (which Miami doesn't have BTW).

Well maybe it's just that the Jets FO is very proactive....instead of sitting back and waiting for something to fall in their laps, it could be that they initiate the contact and feel the team out. It's not like there's anything to lose by inquiring..... For a team that was supposedly handcuffed this off season....they didn't let that stop them from upgrading at positions of need......and this is before the draft.

Very good point. And a strong case can be made that it's the second worst city. Holmes has been in trouble in South Beach before. And he grew up in Belle Glade, and sometimes being close to home isn't good.

We suck again. I'm very optimistic going into seasons, and I probably will be this year, but this offseason has sucked hard. Maybe we'll have a new "no-name defense" [and no-name WR team] to lead us??
