Hello dolphin fans. I'm a Broncos fan. Congrats on getting Marshall from us, but he DOES have baggage. He has been arrested twice since coming into the NFL, he's gonna want a huge contract, and he can be an even bigger diva than brett favre. marshall is a hell of a WR, but good luck with his baggage. (that was the reason we traded him in the first place)
im just kidding idk how i feel hes one hell of a player and is gonna make us better either way i hope he keeps his head straight
Ronnie Brown has been arrested, so has many other players in the NFL. Parcell will keep an eye on him due to his past. Possibly a great mentor? Who wouldn't love to be on a Parcell team?
we are well aware of his baggage as is every other team i am sure. If he can keep his head on straight, it is a great pickup. if not, we slowed down our building process.
He just wanted to get paid. He sure wasnt a problem until he started playing like a probowler. Its a common thing with WR.
not too mad. it sucks to lose marshall, but us bronco fans had all these problems with him like him getting arrested twice, his training camp video, where he batted down balls and punted them away, his attitiude, etc. good luck with marshall tho. i think darrelle revis on marshall would be interesting tho...
Welcome to the board and thanks for the post. As you can tell, this team is so desperate for a big play WR that we had little choice but to bet big on Marshall and hope he pays off. For that reason, even if he screws up, I dont imagine the fans will hold it against the Front Office. This is something we had to do - especially with a young QB that needs weapons As for the Broncos, uou guys made out pretty good as well. Two seconds for a guy that wasnt going to be with the team beyond 2010 seems like a reasonable deal - and better than the deals which were made for Braylon Edwards, Boldin and Holmes. Good luck!
he only did one thing and that was one lie to the NCAA. he has great agility and great hands. he can also jump good for throws.
Apologies for some of the guys here not being a little more mature in their responses. Thanks for posting and for the warning, but we all know he has baggage and we all know that our "WR hating regime" knows he had baggage. And DC Mike Nolan saw his behavior everyday. So if they believe he is worth it then how can I not?
Agreed with everything you said surferosa. Will only add that I hope Parcells sits him down and gives it to him straight from day #1. Hope he tells him what's is expected of him, both on the field and more importantly off the field. Time to grow up and act like a professional. Marshall better be 100% committed to playing football, and being the best representative he can be for The Miami Dolphins. Two 2nd's and 50 mil is a lot to give up for a guy with his track record. But, it will all be worth it if he keeps his nose clean and helps us win our first SB in nearly 40 years. On a side note, I'd love to know what Henne's reaction to the news was. Bet he still has a grin from ear to ear.
I've been trashing Holmes for 2 solid days and now i have to bite my tongue. Here's hoping Marshall stays clean.
Hi and welcome to the forum. You're right, it's a significant risk. I'm admittedly apprehensive about it. With his baggage plus mega money and South Beach, you have to be. This is totally out of character for this regime. But it's a move they had to make. I expect Marshall and Santonio Holmes to be on their best behavior this season. But after that, all bets are off. Hoping for the best. In the meantime, we've got a beast in 2010. He should have a career year. Dez Bryant has a ways to mature, but he's not a bad guy. I will be shocked if Denver doesn't grab him if he's there at 11.
Chronically late to practice and team meetings. I even read he was so late, he came 30 minutes before game time. And did he really forget his cleats????
not to worry, we have Bill Parcells calling the shots & Brandon will be under written restraints built into the very large contract he signs concerning his behavior & performance w/ the Dolphins
Thanks. Now if you don't mind, you're ruining my day. P.S. Thanks for the victory in 08', it helped put us into the playoffs.
I really like Royal, and if they draft Dez, and he turns out to be as good as people think he'll be, they'll be in good shape...although I don't necessarily think that either Orton or Quinn are the answer at QB. I'm very pleased with getting Marshall, because not only did we get a probowl caliber #1 WR, we got him for a 2nd round pick (and another next year) and didn't have to use our #12 1st round pick, which we can now use to address another area of need.
Agree on all counts. If Denver picks Dez at #11, their WR corps is still in very good shape with him and Royal. And then they have two 2nd's this year to shore up their defense. Irrespective of the trade, however, Denver will only be as good as Brady Quinn.
yeah I don't understand people getting all *****y. What he posted is true and something we discussed on here numerous times.
Thanks for that. So how many yards do you think he'll lead the league in Receiving yardage by? I'm guessing he is around 1,500 yards this year. Maybe 12-15 TD's. Have a nice pick and thanks very much!
It's a win-win IMO. Marshall and McDaniels couldn't co-exist....the way I look at it....Miami was taking a WR in the first 2 rounds anyway, so it's basically the same as taking one in the 2nd.....now is it safety or OLB @ 12?
with this deal, denver will draft bryant which makes our pick even better because denver has the same needs as us. hello dan williams. hopefully we can get one of those second rounders back.
Well everyone in oklahoma denied he was chronically late, and he had like 12 pairs of cleats, he just forgot his "lucky" cleats.
Broncofanboy, I have some bad news for you. Now that the broncos have shown their hand everyone knows where they will have to trade up to if they want Dez. Buffalo is a huge trade partner now as they can trade down and still get their QB. I think the timing of this trade is bad for both squads. It is something that should have been done as soon as the broncos were on the clock. Now everyone knows Denver wants Dez and Miami does not need Dez. 1 of 2 things will happen. Buffalo will buffalo Denver into trading up or someone will jump over like Seattle and snag him. Do not rule out Cleveland taking him early either. Dez to Denver anything but guaranteed now.
And by the way... DUH he has baggage... thats why we got him for 2 2nd round picks... How many 26 year old, pro bowlers with 100+ catches 3 straight years are even available for any amount of picks?
Thank you, since I'm gonna assume your cautionary warning is well-intended instead of sour grapes or post-sale remorse. It is a serious concern that I've had but now that the deal is done, it's human nature to hope for the best and daydream of glory days that loom ahead. So we'll all keep our fingers crossed, but considering that The Tuna instills fear and intimidation in his players and that our Trifecta runs a tight ship, coupled with Marshall getting his pay day, there is reason for optimisim. And in turn, good luck to you in the upcoming Orton-Quinn QB battle, the potential signing of the Dez Bryant ensemble featuring Crabtree agent Eugene Parker and "mentor" Neon Deion, and of course the visionary direction of the prepubescent version of Belicheat - well at least in his own mind.
