Feed the stud, but which one more? http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...randon-marshall-will-continue-being-a-be.html
if we throw to marshall less than 8 times a game, i will be furious. (unless we have over 200 yds rushing.)
i don't think it affects ricky at all from a "the guy" standpoint as he doesn't want to be the guy anyway.as for brown it will only help him in the quest for a healthy season as he won't be as relied on so much and it takes a guy out of the box to account for marshall.i don't think we want to be so run oriented but our recievers just couldn't catch the ball or most importantly make yac. marshall brings a physicallity and yernst to fight for the ball that we havent seen here in a long, long time along with a fearlessness of his surroundings on the field..he is not scared to take a big hit and double team him if you want for he is a beast. welcome to miami marshall!!
we're going to feed whomever helps us win. when we're up by 10, we're probably going to run a bit more. when we're trailing, Marshall's # will get called.
Its a different era but the principle is the same .Csonka,Morris and Kiick chewed up big yardage while Warfield kept the defenses honest by stretching the field except that I believe in todays game the passing game will stretch the field in order to make the running and short games more effective.
The thing is, I see us having multiple gameplans now. When the air game isn't working, we can reliably switch to the run, and vice-versa. Before if the defense played run, we had to rely on plays like the Wildcat to catch them off guard, or hope that we can get some big plays, that are pretty casual for other teams to make, out of our receivers. Now, so long as Henning is mindful of what the defense is throwing at him, we can lean on either side of our offense and be successful. At this point, the only real limiting factor in our offensive success, is playcalling. If the Offense fails to produce top 10 production this year, barring major injuries, he needs to GO.
Balanced attack. Ronnie is recovering from a major injury, and Ricky is an aging RB at the end of his career. It'll be good to have a real passing attack, so we don't have to lean on the R&R express as much.
This. I look for us to open it up more. But not to the point where we become a pure passing team. Yet enough where we wont be a pure running team. We will force teams to prepare for and play both.
