If you have BBC America they show the last few seasons all the time. If you really want to know more you will have to look around. Its been on since 1963, I think thats when it started. Tom Baker is my fav but you really have to be a fan to get into the early stuff or it may seem somewhat cheesy to you.

I would watch the "new" series from its beginning in 2005 through the end of Tennant's first season. Then, I'd double back and do one of three things (I did both when I was new to the show):
    • Watch all the serials that bridge the gap from one Doctor into the next; and/or
    • Watch several series with Daleks and different doctors, then Cybermen and different doctors, etc.
    • Or you could always start with the Tom Baker years, like many, many others did. (The first one is "Robot.")

I have to say, even though tonight's episode "The Beast Below" was a total recycle of the pilot of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I'm enjoying the direction the show is going. It feels like old school Doctor Who.

The second part is much much better, the best of the season, and the episode that fixed matt smith as the doctor in my mind. You really see the range of his acting skills.

Agreed, and with some amazing writing by Moffat. An episode that ranked up there with the best of the Tennant era. And Amy Pond is still smokin'!

Vampires of Venice is good but not great, but Amy's choice is another great episode. I think I'm ahead of you guys, so I'll try not and write any spoilers

Tennant and Mintz-Plasse to Star in Fright Night

David Tennant ("Doctor Who") and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-***, Superbad) are joining the cast of DreamWorks remake Fright Night, to be directed by Craig Gillespie.

They will star opposite Anton Yelchin as Charlie, a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Toni Collette will play the teen's disbelieving mom, who falls under the vampire’s spell.

Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a character who in the original movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he's a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he's less than helpful.

Mintz-Plasse is playing Evil Ed, Yelchin's friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire's coven.

Peter Vincent - the character featured in Tom Holland's 1985 film Fright Night - is being dusted off for an upcoming Fright Night remake. And he's unrecognizable in more ways than one. Gone is the old coat and white hair. In comes the Chriss Angel style with his flowing black hair. It's no secret that Peter Vincent is going to be a master of illusion in the redo. He's a Vegas act. One that has a regular show at the Hard Rock apparently called "Fright Night" and, below, you'll find a look at actor David Tennant as Vincent on a banner we spotted recently. Can you even recognize the former Dr. Who in there?

Doctor Who to Film in the U.S. for the First Time

The BBC announced today that season six of "Doctor Who" will open with a two-parter set in the U.S. that is written by "Who supremo" Steven Moffat.

In the special two-parter co-produced with BBC America, key scenes will be filmed in Utah for a story set in the late '60s in which the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah - right to the Oval Office itself.

Production on episodes one and two of the new season starts in Cardiff this month and Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will then travel to America in mid-November to shoot pivotal scenes. They will also be joined by Alex Kingston who reprises her role as River Song.

Showrunner and lead writer, Steven Moffat, said: "The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound get round to America eventually! And of course every 'Doctor Who' fan will be jumping up and down and saying he's been in America before. But not for real, not on location - and not with a story like this one! Oh, you wait!"

The new season follows on from the "Doctor Who" Christmas special guest starring Katherine Jenkins and Michael Gambon which is due to premiere during the holiday season. Season six will start airing on BBC America in spring 2011 and has been split into two blocks, with the second block airing in autumn 2011. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting "Doctor Who" cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.

Huge Who News: the new Doctor Who Christmas special, "A Christmas Carol," will premiere Saturday, December 25th at 9 pm EST on BBC America.

Matt and Karen return for an all-new Christmas special, along with Arthur Darvill and guest stars Michael Gambon (Harry Potter) and Katherine Jenkins.

More details to come, but Lead Writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, confirmed, 'Oh, we're going for broke with this one. It's all your favorite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters. And the Doctor. And a honeymoon. And ... oh, you'll see. I've honestly never been so excited about writing anything!'

Watched it. Loved it. Matt Smith has passed Chris Eccleston and slid into #4 on my list of all-time favorite doctors (behind Baker, Tennant and Pertwee). Moffat's writing was pretty crackling as well.

    Yup loved the xmas episode.

Are they doing an easter special this year before the season begins?

Didn't realize how huge Doctor Who is in the UK. Apparently it scored something like 10.3 million in the UK which was something like 35% of all TV's in the UK tuned in.

I loved the first episode, especially the aliens. It's a classic nod to the x-files (which I've watched a lot of lately) and the "roswell aliens", and the men in black suit was also a nice touch. Not sure about one thing though.

So according to this episode the Dr. dies while attempting to regenerate which effectively kills him. No more regeneration. That would mean that Matt Smith is the last incarnation, but what does that do for the future of the show? You can't replace Matt Smith and say it's the regeneration. Now I'm sure they are going to find some way explain it all and solve this riddle. Also Moffit seems to enjoy using the time paraodox and cyclical time them.

And the follow up did not disappoint. FSB, we might have some sort of answer to your question with this episode, though then again, we could always wind up with sort of what happened at the end last season.
