didn't you post on another thread its just business........... I find it funny its all business when the dolphins do something, but treachery when the players act for themselves.

Yep just business, How do you get treachery out of my post? As far as I can tell JT's been a whiny little ***** since the DWTS days. I don't really care that he went to the Jets, and im not calling him a traitor, I just think its silly to gush over the guy in a thank you commemorative thread

Yup he's a self entitled little ***** We go 1-15 and he goes to the Redskins, we go 11-5 and he's dying to come back here. The Jets suddenly become favorites to make thenSuper Bowl next year and he bails to go play for them. He's chasing the ring anyway he can get it he doesn't care about being a Dolphin I don't buy that one bit. Zach Thomas bleeds aqua and orange, Jason Taylor doesn't. I haven't been much of a fan of Taylors for awhile now pretty much starting back in the DWTS days.

All the more reason why it makes him one of the biggest sell out in sports....next to Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, and Johnny Damon.....JT wasnt a 3 year veteran.....he was a legend in aqua and ornage.....legends do not sell out, not in my eyes anyway.....That would be like D. Jeter going to the Sox....

dolphins didn't want him this year. Would you have felt better if the jets were 4-12 last year? He played for the dolphins for 8 years, funny how all of a sudden all thats moot to you.

There's a pretty big difference between "moot" Over his whole career and not being butt hurt over the guy leaving for the Jets. Not sure how you make that leap  He was a great player for a long time but he's been me first ever since Zach left and all the DWTS stuff started so I'm really not sad at all to see him go. Sorry if that bothers you but that's just the way I feel.

What the hell is going on here.??? Jason Taylor did whats best for himself and his family. Who are we to act like scorned teenage school girls. Get it straight THE DOLPHINS DID NOT WANT HIM ANYMORE!!!!.. If my job said to me " We`re not keeping you around no more, but dont work for anyone else because we may need you if we dont find someone else", I`d tell them to shove it. Especially if I gave them my all for many years. Dont get me wrong its going to be very painful seeing JT in a Jets uniform. Its probably going to be plastered all over the papers here in NY but deep down I`ll just have to realize his dynamic tenure as a Dolphin is over. Jason Taylor earned the right to be treated with respect and he wasnt given it.

Good luck JT ,thanks for the great memories.

    Let's get the facts straight.

JT turned down an extension last November. He even admits it.

    Now, who didn't want who???

He was very good. He wasn't an elite rusher because he wasn't asked to pass rush as much. That's what happens when you're playing out of position.

The Dolphins dont want Jason Taylor. If you honestly believe otherwise, you`re sadly mistaken. They had a meeting scheduled and the Dolphins FO canceled it. Not exactly the way to treat a veteran player you`re still interested in.

Then retire here. Why prolong a career just to tarnish it? The money?

I personally lost respect for him with his dancing with the stars and wanting to play for a contender the first time around.

This just cements it for me.

He went to NY for one reason, he wants headlines so he can get into the movies when he retires after this year.

Sorry, but that is the way I feel.

If they didn't want him, they wouldn't have offered him an extension in November. Now, maybe he thinks he's worth more, and that's why he declined. But this front office offered him what they thought he was worth and now he's elsewhere, that's just the nature of this business.

Good luck in NY, JT, thanks for the memories.

Uh, maybe he's going to prolong his career because he still wants to play football. Ever think of that one? I mean... that is his profession... :wink2: He wants to play, we didnt want to commit to him, someone else did. End of story. I don't like it either, but it is what it is. How does going there tarnish his career? I get it from a Dolphins fans standpoint, but what if he goes there and puts up double digit sack numbers this year? Im pretty sure that's not going to tarnish his career. Its a job to these guys, its a place of employment for them. End of story.

DWTS didnt bug me as much as telling the Dolphins he would be back after the show was over. he didnt report. his leadership tanked for me then and there. Jason chose to go rub elbows with hollywood types instead of coming back to the team. That changed things for me honestly.
Signing with the jets has pissed everyone off but i fastened my seat belt on jt long ago.

If you guys dont like the guy or are pissed that he's a Jet(I know I am), let's be real here.

Calling for his injury is ridiculous, it borders on making this place into a zoo. We all have our opinions on Taylor but don't wish harm on the guy, he's playing a game for crying out loud. Put away your pitchforks.

That's exactly how I feel. I don't hate him, but that whole Redskins debacle stole a lot of his luster for me. He went from IMO being one of the faces of the franchise for the past 10 years to just being a good player that I enjoyed watching. I'm not burnt by what happened today..i can totally understand it. Would have been nice to see him throw it back in Rex's face...but it didn't happen. Yet in my mind nothing has really changed since yesterday.

Thanks for the memories Jason. There were times when you and Zach were our only stars and the main reason we won. I, for one will not forget you, and the class act that you are. While I must tell you it will be easy to root for the Dolphins to beat the Jets I will also smile a littls smile when you get your sacks.

As for loyalty from this FO unless you are a washed up NT that will miss 8 games or a QB with a bum throwing arm who were drafted by them you get no respect.

Hope you get your ring and I'll see you at your HOF induction.

I have to say I'm stunned by many of the posts here, wishing injury and even death on a person. Questioning the persons loyalty to their employer that he clearly gave his all to when he played for them. Amazing that some of you feel he should not be paid for what he does & so few are able to do. Even if it is all about the money how many of you are above walking away from a job for an employer you didn't care for if you didn't have an option? Broadcasting and acting are not an option to football.

The reality is the Jets wanted him, the Dolphins didn't and he made a choice for himself. Its the business end to the sport, they paid him well and he played well. Spare me what he owes "the fans" speech. He gave and continues to give to the fans & community. Taylor has always had good things to say about the fans and is a contributor to the community. He has been the face of the team for some time and I don't know of a time he tarnished it.

Its a tough pill for me to swallow that he went to the Jets and I do not want him to have a good game 2x a year or influence the outcome of the East for the Dolphins.

    Thanks for the memories.

He is the enemy, regardless of what he did for Miami...he denied extensions, lied about the Dolphins not returning phone calls, when in fact Jeff Irish said they were in contact with his agent....I believe Jeff on this one...

I dont wish him well, I dont care about him, if something were to happen to him, and he was to miss an extended period of the year, ohh welll, nobody cares.....nobody cared when RB, went down 2X, RW, Cam....Penny.....any of them.....NFL is a war of atrision....the best survive...JT and all that he did for the team, are as our new WR put it, during his presser, "the past is the past..." what has JT done for us now....nada, zip zilch.....

all of this is moot of course, he isnt sniffing the backfield when Jake Long even looks at him...

  33. Great post, and I agree 100%. While it makes me ill to even picture him wearing green, the team spoke first, and Jason responded. This is a guy that has given his all to the Dolphins and to the NFL. What's wrong with wanting another year to make the record books, and if your team doesn't want you, looking elsewhere? I "played" for my company for nine years and was layed off (so much for loyalty). The company was "eliminating my position, not ME, personally." (???) While it hurt at the time, I did understand. Their future plans (or those forced upon them due to our crappy economy) dictated that I did not fit with where they were going. It happens... I don't like the way this whole thing played out - both sides are at fault -management should have respected him more, but just as important, Jason chose poorly and should have gone with ANY other team.

While we all love our Dolphins, the NFL is a BUSINESS, and the same rules apply. It will break my heart to see him in a JESTs uniform, but it's the nature of the beast. I will say that I am really shocked to read the posts "wishing" for physical harm to come to a man that has meant so much to our organization. I hope any former co-workers of mine are not of the same mindset; I know I am not.

The problem I have with this is that he then, needs to cut that "Dolphin forever" crap out.
You're right he's a FA and he has the right to play for whomever he wants to play for; and for as long as he's able to play. But don't play the mercenary and swear allegiance at the same time. You can't have it both ways.
He wants all of us to believe that his heart will always be in Miami and he'll be a Dolphin for life. How's that going to work on gameday? Is he going to excuse himself from those games against the Jets? Doubt it. Well then he's a Jet, not a Dolphin. And if he's a Jet then he's not a "Dolphin for life", either.

Without a doubt. That's how I feel, too. I have no problem with someone playing wherever fate takes them. But you can't have it both ways. You can't say I'm a Dolphin and then go wear another team's colors.

In the end sports in it's purest form doesn't exist when the players are being paid.
Once there's a paycheck involved loyalty and devotion becomes a "yes, but"..proposition.
Again, my only problem is the Dolphin for life facade that JT is attempting to build.

Good post, its sad to see him leave under these circumstances but we have to appreciate what he did for our team and all the great memories he has given us.

One of my favorites was when he almost single handedly beat the chicago bears when they the team to beat in the NFL and we were not that good. He had a few huge sacks and picked off a screen for a touchdown.

    Will always love #99.
