as usual? you dont even know me I got my info from 560 WQAM they just said "ITS HUGHES, the Dolphins selected Jerry Hughes" blame them not me
I agree, how many 3-4 DEs do we need? We have about 8 of them and 2 OLBS who have started about 3 games between them.
DT was a need, as OLB and FS, we can't pick all 3 with only one pick. Patience. As long as we fill the holes fine with me.
I really think this front office is sadistic... With our #1 pick we take a position that ISN'T NEEDED immediately. We have MAJOR HOLES ON DEFENSE and this is the way we go!?? WTF... Just saying we should have taken Hughes and solved an immediate need..
This regime can't help themselves, they simply have to take as many huge defensive linemen as they possibly can. What this tells me is they weren't sold on any of the OLB prospects left at 28, and believe they can get a guy later in the draft. I'm not thrilled with the pick, but I completely understand the pick. They love versatile players who are big, and stop the run first and foremost. He'll rush the passer a little bit. He'll stop the run really well. He'll play in a rotation and play less than 50% of the snaps. At that low percentage of snaps he'll have to be a Pro Bowler to be worth it, but I know he's a solid player, and is a safe player. Odrick isn't going to be a major bust, and this regime seems to like safe, versatile players. The draft was exciting, and the best part is we are picking again in 8 picks...I'll probably disagree with who we pick again, because it seems like I always do, but these guys have a proven track record and probably deserve our confidence, so I'm going to give it to them. There is no doubt in my mind he goes to the Jets if we don't take him, and he would have been an absolute perfect fit for them if they had gotten him. Lots of SOLB prospects left out there...keep the faith Phin fans!
Ireland's day one draft presser! http://www.miamidolphins.com/aquavision/video/jeff-ireland-post-draft-press-briefing-day-1
From that it seems like there was one guy that went in the top eleven that they were targeting strongly. Wonder who that coulda been? Berry, clearly, or Spiller would be my guess.
I would expect they didnt think Berry would be there at 12. Maybe Spiller since he can play RB, WR and special teams(along with Ronnie trade rumors) this regime love versatile players. But I think it was Rolando McClain. Edit: smoke and mirrors, could be thomas but wanted that second rounder. and said what we all want to hear.
