I never thought it was that ridiculous. I just wanted to bring up the Zach Thomas to safety thing again.

Rio, a/k/a the 23rd has a keen football mind.

His brilliance, coupled with his enthusiasm, makes him the most valuable member of this board. Kudos to the 23rd!

Keep in mind that a "Hybrid" system could be something like a 4-3 Over/Under look, which looks a lot like a disguised 3-4. I'd expect it looks something like this:

    Langford | Odrick | Starks | Wake
    Crowder | Dansby | Misi

This absolutely makes the most sense with Wake having his hand on the ground, where he's at his best. Our front 7 is uber-talented. Look at that lineup, fellas.

Add to that three starting quality cornerbacks and a pro bowl safety. Only weak point is at the FS position right now. All we need is to get a starting caliber safety or hope one of our guys steps up.

Last season, I knew Clemons wasn't ready. Watched him at Clemson his whole career, and he's not the type who's going to come right in and understand every aspect of what's going on on the field. With a full season and two offseasons under his belt as a Dolphin, he might just be ready to step up and become the player he's capable of being next season.

Personally, Im not thrilled about the move as Starks really shone as a DE in a 3 man front. We'll see how well he fits in at the Nose.

That said, it makes the Odrick pick seem a LOT shrewder than many on the board (me included) initially thought. Knowing what we know now (that Starks is switching positions), I dont see how anyone cannot love the Odrick selection.

&, for the most part, was received very critically
however, it is what it is:

    I wouldn't be surprised
    to see Randy Starks @ 6-3 300+
already a prototype in many ways
    converted to NT by Nolan
    when you think about it.
    he already knows the position
    & will probably start w/Soliai
w/ Ferguson out half the season
could be Soliai & Starks are the answer
for 2010 & our franchise future
    much easier to find another
Ace @ DE in the draft

& there you have it: Oderick @ DE & Stark @ NT

I'm pretty sure Ireland said in a recap last night that was on the live feed of the Dolphins website that Starks would most likely be moved to NT and he qouted Starks saying "I feel at home here" referring to the NT position.

funny when we brought this up a few weeks ago, about how Starks, Soliai and McDaniel would be our rotation at NT ... it was not well received ... now everyone loves it ....

same with Odrick ... saw him as a very similar type player to Starks who could play both DE and NT, and could immediately improve our DL assuming Starks would move inside ...

    folks are fickle ....
