I enjoyed the Draft and I enjoy that we have a certain excitement every year for our Miami Dolphins.
We have our work cut out for us this year and I would like a few opinions and thoughts on what you want to see in OTA's and preseason, and more importantly, where are we truly headed as an organization.
I am as excited as the rest of you(with a few exceptions ), and looking with great hope into the future that our team is building a championship front runner for years to come.

    Cheers,

    :hi5:

Every season I see some team in the league that people had written off rise up and make a good run at the playoffs or better yet make the playoffs.

I enjoy getting my hopes up, I enjoy thinking what might be and up until the season tells me that hope is lost I'm going to imagine my team as contenders.

I get what you're saying man I really do, but I've never experienced a Superbowl winning Dolphins team in my life so this time every year I love the excitement of what could be.

    Are you kidding me?
Lets get our hopes up. Lets make plans to go to games or get together to watch them and root for our team. Don't start threads like this. Just plain sucks as well as crappy tippers. They suck too. It is a sad thing to do to people. I don't care what the story is. Just a sad name to have.
I expect our team to do well every year.

Is there a negative star button?

we're on our way. This is a tough schedule but for the first time i can remember, i actually think this miami team is tougher.

Games like the Ravens, Packers, Patriots, Jets, Bengals, and Steelers all look pretty tough, but I can't be the only one who thinks "but we can beat them."

If Chad progresses, we're in the playoffs. And with brandon marshall, how can he not?

    I'm feeling that vibe also.
We are going to have a certain "something" that other teams will fear IMO.
That is what we haven't had since the early 80's.

I am the last person in the world to get false hope. But I don't see that when I look at this team.

Some people say to look at everything in a vacuum and don't consider what has happened last year because, after all, team do change (07 and 08 Fins).

But I think, in most cases, recent history can give you a baseline. There will always be the X factor teams....If team was great, and has a new coach, new QB, bunch of new players, it might not be great. If a team was horrible, and has s new coach, new QB, and a bunch of new players, it might not be horrible.

But, if a team keeps its coach, its QB, doesn't lose big time contributors, adds significant contributors, shores up weak areas, adds some competition at a few positions, I think its safe to predict that is a team that will be better. The question then becomes, "how much better?"

As several have pointed out, we played tough vs NO and Indy. Perhaps, even with the team we had last year, if we just add Brandon Marshall, we win those two games. I think if you add Brandon Marshall and Karlos Dansby, a better Oline, an even better Dline (that played well last year) we probably beat Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Tennessee, and San Diego (which, if Henne had been a more experienced QB, we might have beaten them anyway). The loss to NE, I thought we played outstanding football, they just had better players. There was nothing we could do. I don't know that they have a more talented roster, at least not as lopsided as it was last year.

We stunk completely vs Atl and Houston. Those two games we weren't mentally prepared to play football. I guess it happens...even NO lost to TB. Which ironically, I think we should have lost to Tampa Bay...they outplayed us.

We didn't lose anything significant on offense, and added to the Oline and one of the games best WRs.

On defense, we lost Taylor and Porter, but we added Dansby, some good rookie talent, and the CBs have a full year of experience.

I think, based on these factors, its reasonable to conclude that we should be able to win 12 games. We have the team to do it. Now we just have to get it done. It starts in Buffalo, it ends in Dallas.

A super catchy negative title meant to be a fan love fest? What is the point of this? There are other threads on everyone's thoughts on the draft and the outlook of the team.

I should start a thread with a controversial title so I can get other thoughts other than the thoughts on the same subject that also has other thoughts in another thread that has the same thoughts in several other thought threads already....I think.

Maybe I can make a negative a positive. Wait, I have it. This thread is math.

There is no team we cant hang with.

Patriots? We have been Brady' kryptonite since he stepped into this league.
Ravens? Keep in Mind we were very much alive in that playoff game, we managed to drive far down teh field against that D.
Jets? Despite all the hype they always fall flat dont they?
    Bengals? Overrated
Steelers? When they had Ben we put up quite a fight with Thigpen at QB, if Henne had stayed in we would have won, (IRRC he was 14 of 16 and had 150 yards passing at the half)
Packers? Thats a tough one, but I think we match up nicely w/them.

I’m very curious to see how Nolan and Sheridan utilize all of the new options with the front 7.

Finally, there seems to be equal amount of depth on both sides of the ball and special teams should be sick if there’s a legit KR already on the roster.

It’s just great to be in the discussion again.

Well, here is the deal imho, we have yet to even start the process of preparing for the season, we haven't even been through Rook Mini Camp yet, let alone the hellish signing of the draftees in a last minute "gold rush" with no rookie salary cap.

I'm looking forwards to the whole process though, which Rookies catch on the fastest to what Sparano and Co are looking for, which Veterans step up in their third year (recall that rule?) as the 08 draft class is now in their third cycle in Miami.

I don't have what anyone could call "hope", at least not yet, I've got a bit of buzz over what Nolan has up his sleeve though, this was "his" draft, with the lone exception being John Jerry, this is his project and I look forward to watching him go about his business of repairing a putrid defense.

Is having "Hope" the same as having "Optimism"? I have optimism that this team is slowly being rebuilt to a perennial playoff team like it once was.
Maybe what this regime does is not the popular choice, or the fans and media's favorite choice, but I believe they have a plan and are sticking to it. Sure they are making a few mistakes along the way but they are slowly improving a team that was bereft of talent and giving us a team that will give us hope and excitement.
