This is absurdity. Taylor and Thomas were "owed" something? They got paid for playing here, thats what they were owed.

I am all for giving him hell for Wilford, White, Wilson...and anyone else he misses on. But I am not going to give them an ounce of grief over the way they treat former players. Who cares?

As for Dez White, the kid has SERIOUS character concerns. They have a responsibility to do whatever is necessary to find out IF they take him instead of Marshall, that he is going to have what it takes to be responsible down here.

Right now, the media is just having a circus because there is little else to talk about. Hes responsible for the players he took. Not the ones he didn't, nor for the reasons that he didn't take them.

I don't care what happens with Dez Bryant, good or bad. We have Brandon Marshall, Odrick and Misi instead. I care very much about these three being good players.

Bye the way, if we had drafted Cushing or Matthews people would be complaining that we didn't address the DBs. I'm pretty happy with Dansby myself and we have addressed a whole lot more than linebackers.

I think a lot of the fans, we feel that way. But apparently the owner & NFL honchos feel differently. I just hope it does dir before the NFL Brass feels compelled to take away draft picks from us

    For..harsh language?

Straight Outta Davie...a GM with attitude with a rep for being rude, if he calls ya he's gonna insult ya yo daily monthly and yearly but them Owners won't get near me cause they fear me, so when you see me comin...you best believe boy..I'm coming straight outta Davie...

Yo Bill, tell the people where you from..Tuna is my name and I'm comin'..

    :domodance:

Pardon my flippance, losing draft picks for a line of questioning is about the least likely thing to happen, Owners and the NFL knows, but might not admit, they approve of such practices, the only difference in this case is Bryant's entourage sang the blues.

Brandon I think most of us agree with what you are saying. This has gone past that, and its now about how far they (the NRL or Ross) might go in disciplining Ireland, and whether or not it might cost the Dolphins, in cash or a draft pick or maybe both.

The perception is out there among the NFL and now a lot of the public that our FO is not one you want to deal with or be around, and in turn that could hurt the effectivness in the future of Ireland to do his job.

Its going to from now on what lessons did the FO learn from this debacle and in the future will they clam up even more or will they learn to be just a little more open ?

if this organization replaces ireland because he's not sensitive to people's feelings it will officially become a joke organization. I agree that the players he brought in have to deliver but so far this is the best two year front office performance we have seen since at least Jimmy Johnson's days. To get rid of him would officially put us on the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns level of ineptitude

This DolfinJake's thread and two digressions are quite enough..but my man Ireland is comin'..Straight outta Davie..as a sort of inside joke.

    Fines?
    Draft picks?

What's next? The coach going to get fined for swearing or hurting a players feelings? This is effing football. It's part of the game from top to bottom. Let's start firing or fining drill sergeants for hurting soldiers feelings. When will this crap die??

This is the part that is not coming in clearly for me, what makes him a ahole?

To me, if anything he has been overly nice, he should have went with his gut and said "no thanks" to Taylor's return in 2009, they cut Zach T in time for him to land a job with the Super Bowl contending Cowboys in 08.

What exactly makes him "straight outta Davie"?

That was obvious two weeks ago KillahP, what stuns me is so many Dolfans cannot grasp that, and instead morph Ireland into some sort of monster, it ain't so.

The idea that Taylor thinks he is smelling a SB with the Jests has been transformed into "Ireland made him do it!"..which is so naive it is almost sad.

"Jason Taylor would never! do that, Ireland hypnotized him and flew him to NY..twice..then made him sign that deal with the Jests!!!"

Disagree, they didn't make two offers to him for no reason, we need a "Elephant" type who can play DE or LB..which is what Ryan has in mind for him imho.

I do, Rexxy is many things, his football decisions are spot on, Taylor is NY because Rexxy knows he can still play, Taylor is NY because he has written off the 2010 Dolphins.

It is a good opportunity for those with blades to grind to transfer stuff onto Ireland, many many Dolfans have yet to get over Zach Thomas being released or Taylor not only being traded in 2008, but now signing with the Jests in 2010.

To me, some would rather lose with popular players than win with Jeff Ireland's players, no Franchise is as much a slave to it's HIStory than then Miami Dolphins.

Ireland is doing what he does and it works so I hope the man keeps on rocking with the swagger he's got. I like how that article brought up other players that were thinking of playing for Miami like clark and pace. 2 money hungry dudes that have dont have football first. Pace had PED issues and clark has health issues. So im sure Ireland rubbed them the wrong way when he brought up these issues. The point here is Dez Bryant is 21 years old and was going to demand millions out of the draft so you best cover your *** and make sure that nothing is going to hinder your million dollar invesment. I dunno about you but if my mother is a drug addict/prostitute its definately going to linger and disrupt my concentration and if you didnt care well you got to be one messed up person not to care about your mother so its kind of a lose lose situation for Dez but thats the way it goes when you got someone looking to spend big bucks on you.

    Freaking BINGO!!

Totally different from JT being washed up, which is what the poster keeps insisting he's right about.

JT is a drama queen but the front office made offers because they thought he could play...

Like Parcels said, lets put away the anointing oil. They've done alright but nothing spectacular. I feel that, for a 3 year plan, we sure had a lot of holes going into their 3rd draft.

I don't fault them for business moves, it's the lack of class and respect that bugs. Win us a superbowl and all is forgotten. Have another 7-9 season and off with their heads!

And if you were Jason Taylor ( he is no longer "JT" to me) and you saw a small role in Miami as it was obvious they would draft a slew of OLB's, and a Jest team that made it to the AFC Championship game...and was going to be on Hard Knocks, and was in a media capital?

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo6cNQwN6LQ&feature=PlayList&p=E4F4CAE9128E5915&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=78"]YouTube- The Sopranos: Big ***** is a fish[/ame]

Sooner or later, "us" dolfans have to face the facts..Taylor left because he thought he could get a better deal in NY..for himself..

Jason Taylor is a "fish", however the Sports Media is more than happy to filet Ireland, which imho is why the local S Fl media has went berserk with the story.

The FO office doesn't owe us a thing except a quality product on the field.

I was more uncomfortable with the fact that Roth dogged it when he did get on the field then lit it up once he went to Cleveland. Another "JT" move to get what you want...:pity:

I can't say what I would do in Dez's situation because my mom hasn't had a past like his.

But if Ireland were to ask me whether or not my mom is really medically disabled or if she's crying wolf then I would tell him "really medically disabled" and ask him where I could sign on the dotted line.

I think the questions being asked have to do with the magnitude we as a society make the sport out to be and the amount of money they get paid.

If those are the kinds of questions that need asking to make sure anyone is comfortable forking over that kind of cash then I see no issue.

On top of that Brandon brings up several good points on the previous page.

The thing that worries me about all this isn't whether or not there's any meat to the issue, it's the growing media attention it's getting. Because whether it's real or accurate or not, if it gets enough airplay it WILL hurt our ability to sign free agents.

We passed on Matthews when we took Vontae Davis. Matthews went on the next pick. We never had a chance at Cushing. If you are going to rant about the FO, at least get your facts straight beforehand.

    Matthews went 26th overall.

Since Pat and Surtain? What did Pat Surtain do? Play two positions at the same time?

Porter played WOLB. So whether or not we needed a SOLB had nothing to do with Porter.
Cushing went 10 picks ahead of us, so how is there any hindsight involved when we never had a chance to take him?

Agreed. Ireland does his best to not be recognized by the media. He only speaks when he has to, for the most part. The whole Parcells mantra is to keep a low profile.

Then he asks a question like this? I'll give him credit for being a smart enough guy to know that MANY interview questions have been leaked (Rolle, Gerhart, McCoy, etc.). So did he not think this would get out and there'd be a backlash?

It's just a horrible lack of foresight on his part. As I've said before, whether or not it was a valid question is irrelevant. THIS type of media frenzy is what he's paid to avoid.

Maybe so, but don't you think if he knew this **** storm was coming he would've done it in a different way? A question like that, given the outcome, was hardly worth asking.

Besides, you've bascially just pointed out the arrogance of Jeff Ireland. The "I don't give a **** what people say" label he's been given by the media and a lot of fans. I said before it's a God complex.

I'll also give Ireland credit and assume he's a good enough talent/character evaluator to make a decision on a guy without knowing Dez's answer/reaction.

No, I don't think any of the GMs that asked questions along those lines knew it would come it, because the interviews are confidential.

We've had numerous people associated with the NFL come out and say that question isn't out of the ordinary. There are much worse things that have been asked IMO.

I would hope that our FO would make decisions regarding the team based upon things like talent and character, as opposed to media reaction.

Two things I don't understand then. If GM's are relying on guys not to leak these questions, especially ones like the one Dez, Rolle and Gerhart were asked, I have a bridge I'd like to sell them. Nothing is confidential.

And secondly, if it's not out of the ordinary, then why apologize? Why not just say it was a question we needed to know, and we don't care about the reaction?

He apologized, because Dez said he was offended. Ireland isn't going to get into a media back-and-forth with an NFL rookie. He took the high road and moved on. I would be shocked if he actually felt sorry for asking a question which was very relevant.

The interviews are confidential. In some cases, you'll hear questions that are asked, but you'll almost never hear which GM asked them. I guess you can assume Ireland gave Dez too much credit, or didn't foresee that he would have an axe to grind.

Yup. I was thinking about this last night. It really doesn't matter if Ireland is the epic arse these reports make him out to be. It's the perception. Similar to Rothlisberger. The media is slowly molding Ireland into this odd prick of a creep and if enough people start to believe this, his ability to land quality free agents will suffer.

To add, the media attention this is getting really is getting out of control. They talked about it on the Howard Stern Show yesterday.
