I found this on the internet, pretty interesting what do you think? http://www.footballfanspot.com/miamidolphins.htm
Decent analysis but it seems to be off base with a few things. It says that Jones should start over Gibril Wilson, and that if Nolan Carrol developes it would allow Sean Smith to move to a "more natural FS position."
There was alot wrong with the report on the Dolphins. I don't think this guy did too much homework. The thing that jumps out at you is his Koa Misi analysis. I think he gave that pick a C? Based on what? By all accounts, esp those who have seen this kid play, he is going to be at least, a solid contributor. But its an opinion, so whatever. The next thing I took issue with was next year, having the Fins pick 10th or 12th...I forget. If that happens, we'll have a new coach in Miami. There is no way it will be acceptable for this team to lose 9-10 games, which is what it will take to pick that high. We won 7 with Ginn dropping TDs vs Indy, bobbling a ball in his hands to give NO a TD, no true #1 WR, a first year starting QB, two rookies starting most of the year at CB, an injury plagued OLine, a Defensive Coordinator that was unimaginative, No ILB playmaker, and the absolute worse FS in the league...and that was against the leagues toughest schedule. Henne, Hartline, and the two CBs getting experience will make us a 9 win team. Marshall, Dansby, Def Coor, Incognito... IMO will make us an 11 win team. If we get anything from our draft picks, who knows? But this is definitely a top 4 AFC team. FS and TE are the only positions we aren't absolutely solid. Everything else, we are in good shape.
it's unlikely both pan out, they're both late rounders, so i like that the Dolphins gave themselves multiple options
When I read that line: .."He could start over Gibril Wilson sometime next year which is something you don’t normally here about guys taken in the 5th.".... I quit reading. How much credibility do you afford someone who doesn't even bother keeping up on the team he is writing about?
He makes it sound like, at least to me that they are moving Starks to nose tackle because they drafted Odrick and they didn't draft a NT. I don't believe that is true, they had already made the decision on Starks before the draft IMO. They believe in Starks and evidently still have hope for Solaii. Starks is excited about the chance and he is a powerfull big body so lets wait and see. Other than that and his view on Misi, I think he was pretty close to accurate.
#163 S Reshad Jones (Georgia) I know this was a strong safety class, but Jones had no business being available with the 163rd pick. He could start over Gibril Wilson sometime next year which is something you don’t normally here about guys taken in the 5th. Grade: A Uhhh, someone tell this 'fan' that Wilson is no longer on the team. Just another fan website. We have 100x better analysis with our own folks here...Not just Richard, Chris and Simon, but many others as well (KB21, Padre, CKParrothead, Alen, many more I haven't mentioned....)
I really like the Edds pick...I fully expect him to take over Zach Thomas as the MLB in our 4-3 defense.
If you guys didn't notice the person who posted the link to the website also wrote that article.. it's his website. shameless self plug i guess.
maybe I'm misreading the link, but wasn't this written by you? If so, not really "found". analysis is OK, I'd agree with ~75% of it. Think it was overemphasizing the significance of Jones in 5th round.
A bit off topic, but when I keep reading about our FS woes, I just can't help but think that I never saw Jason Allen miss a tackle when playing the position for Saban. He always wrapped up and made a sure tackle. That poor kid's career has been more mismanaged than my own (don't ask!). I don't know why they wouldn't give ol' greybeard another shot at it. I know it would be yet another mind f*#k on our part, but he should be used to it by now.
well, like I pointed out, he wrote his own article and from looking at his pic, he is in high school. Next time, maybe the author should just honestly say "check out this article I wrote and let me know what you think". IMO, not bad for a novice, but the Gibril Wilson error makes it lose 100% credibility.
Poorly informed article. I do give the author credit for trying to be objective. Unfortunately, the factual bases of his assesment / opinion were incorrect, so the article is pretty much trash.
sorry about the wilson error. 32 teams tough to keep up with everything that's happened. good move for them. he was way overpaid. that just makes the jones pick better. FS was a huge need and jones was regarded as a 3rd round pick. Great value. And yea, I did write this article, but I've learned from experience that if I say I wrote it, people see it as spam and just delete it without giving any regard to reading it.
Even worse when you see that I listed Wilson as one of their FAs farther down the page. brain fart fixed.
Thx fir the effort Steve, but these are hard core Fin fans round these parts and any error no matter how small will get you called out, but its normally in good fun. There's no way to tell in May, but Misi, by most accounts, is the crown jewel of the class, while Odrick is billed as a guy who just happened to fall to us. Its anyone's guess who will pan out and who wont, I mean no one thought that Langford would keep Merling on the bench or that DThomas would start while Murphy'd be off the squad. Its alot of fun to speculate though, beats watching baseball...
