Yeah you definitely need to be patient. This game is pretty realistic that way. My advice would be to stop playing RTTS for awhile and stick to just playing a normal game (you might want to face a #4 or #5 starter so the pitchers stuff isn't as good), that way you bat with the whole team without the pressure in RTTS to meet your challenges and goals. It does take awhile to get use too but it's pretty fun since it is challenging.

Yeah I rarely walk, the computer just never seems to throws that last ball to me. One thing I do hate is as the pitcher you throw the ball into the strike zone on the corner but the ump will sometimes call it a ball, it's annoying since it usually happens 5 or 6 times to me a game.

The Ump squeezes me all the time like that. I do occassionally get the benefit of a good call but it seems like they go against you more often. In the next game I'd like to see them make an ump more consistent about where he calls strikes and balls in a game, like in real life. A lot of times the same ump in the same game will shrink the strike zone a little or something and then an inning later start calling those balls strikes. It would be better as a pitcher if there was consistency with umpires' strike zones.

A few tips: Pay attention to a pitcher's pitch types and speeds. I don't know how many good fastballs I've been in front of because I didn't take the time to see that the pitcher's four seamer was only in the upper 80s or whatever. It will show you all of their pitch types and speeds before the AB starts. I rarely swing at the first pitch. Especially if it's the first time I've seen a pitcher. I guess 4SFB up in the zone and if I don't get that I just watch. It can also help you see what their breaking pitches look like if they feature something like that. When I first started playing I had to tell myself to not swing no matter what. As you get better you'll be able to better react if you get something good to hit early. Pitchers in AA and AAA in RTTS will give you some fastballs up in the zone. If you're just trying to get a little something going I recommend just guess high FSB everytime and react to everything else. Your chances of getting a hit are high when you successfully guess the fastball up in the zone. I used to do this exclusively and still batted over .300 normally in RTTS. I don't recommend power swing at all for someone trying to figure out the hitting. One last thing, if you're down two strikes guess low in the zone. The computer loves to go there for strikeouts and correctly guessing there helps you make contact more easily to fight borderline pitches away. Or even get a hit if it stays up enough.

I hope your luck improves. This is an outstanding baseball game. It just does take patience like everyone else has already said.

yeah I love it....so frustrating at first...but you do have to be very patient with hitting....playing RTTS, in AA, got bumped to AAA cuz of an injury, then I was traded, At 18 years old, I kinda wish my player spent the whole first year in AA, to get my points up, and timing perfect....I started off .123...then shot up to .296, back down to .245...now I am at .270...it is realistic the slumps you go on, then you get hot.......

Another thing I noticed is my player plays 1st base, and they give you points for put outs, so if ground balls are hit to the infielders, you get points for simply catching the ball....sometimes I will do nothing at the plate, and still get like 20 points, because I had 7 PO's.....I played last year as a outfielder, and wasnt getting the advancement I wanted...great game I love it!!

I'm doing RTTS as a starting pitcher. I accomplish the goals they set, they say I'm good enough to be promoted....but they won't promote me.

EDIT: Geeze after the season they sign me to a AAA contract, and send me down to AA before I even make an appearance. I make a start in AA where I take a perfect game into the 7th. End up going 9 innings, no runs, 2 hits, no walks. They call me up to AAA again, where I get HAMMERED my first three games. My ERA was 11 through them.

My last two games I went 7 inning 1 run, and 8 innings 0 runs. Have my ERA down to 4.50 now with 2 wins and 1 loss.

Finally, after I don't know how many games I did it. I hit for the cycle.

I was so close so many times. Usually I would be a triple short, but not this time. I feel like I really accomplished something today now.

I always play RTTS as a starting pitcher. I like it best to stay down at AA for a whole season then AAA the next and then hopefully be up that next year. No rush to get to the bigs. Improve all your ratings and you'll be fine when you're ready to move up.

Are attributes like clutch pitching very important? Seems like against good hitters in close games I fall apart.

Honestly I don't think that affects anything other than your pitching meter speed with guys on base, but I could be missing something. I don't worry much about it because I actually like it when the meter runs faster.

See thats what I thought too. However it seems odd that I can pitch a perfect game through 4 innings, a guy hits a double and I completely fall apart.

Its not my location or anything either. I change up my pitches and speeds, they are off balance but they will just find a hole to hit it in, or get a line drive off the end of the bat down the line. It's frustrating.

I'm borderline on making the AAA allstar game. I had started a new RTTS. I started the AA allstar game last season. Need a couple more strong starts.

I know exactly what you mean. You're cruising along and then suddenly you can't get the pitcher out. I don't really know either if the clutch rating has anything to do with that. It usually seems when this happens to me my location does suffer a little bit though. Like everything just completely falls apart. Sometimes I'll get in those situations where they just watch everything that's not in the zone and anything that goes anywhere in they get a hit off of. The patience of some of these guys is unbelievable but it seems like they've made a little better in this year's game. I can get more AA guys at least to chase now than in the past.

The most frustrating thing for me with pitching in RTTS this year has actually been the manager. My pitcher is a closer with great numbers but he gets yanked everytime he gives up even a single earned run. I can be going for a three run save, give up an ER, nobody else will be in scoring position, and I'll get pulled anyway. The AI manager stealing saves from me irritates me to no end.

My manager pisses me off too. I'm on the Marlins dmfarm system and the AAA team SUCKS. Ill go into the 8th up 2-1 and they pull me. The team then goes on to blow the lead and I get a no decision. Manager needs to let me finish games.

In AA I was 15-7. In AAA because my team can't hit or close I'm 6-5 so far. Lead the league in WHIP and still can't buy a win.

You guys that pitch on RTTS, do you get the ball out of the zone called a strike more, or do you get the ball in the zone called a ball more.....??

I hit, and I almost never see the out of the zone strike call, but always see the in the zone ball call.....benefits me actually just wondering??

I don't really notice one way or the other. I think they try to make it realistic where if you're locating well the umpire gives you more calls and if you're struggling he shrinks the zone.

My RTTS player is a 1st basemen....I just wanted to see if it was different for a RTTS pitcher player, or a RTTS hitter......sounds about the same though....

If I was a pitcher, I would probably use David Cone, or Orlando Hernandez ha!....

Alex is it worth it being a closer?? Have you ever tried it??

No, but before you crack the rotation they use you in relief. It is pretty challenging. Especially being used night after night.

If you actually choose to be a closing pitcher you'll start off as a AA setup guy. If you do well then you'll get promoted and become the team's closer. I enjoy playing that way. The tough part is though that the managers are quicker to pull you from a game when you get into trouble than if you're a starting pitcher. I disagree that's it's not worth it. I personally like going out and trying to protect a lead or going out to get out of somebody else's jam.

hahahah dude you need to be on another team.....started my second season 19 yr old...freaking still a backup 1st baseman, every chance I get when it allows in "interactions" I click that I am not happy with the playing time, and the manager says the other guy is "swinging a hot bat"...he is batting .245 with 1 HR.....I am batting .346....with 1 RBI...ugh!!!!

Question: When do you have control of your contract situation, if nobody offers you a contract you have to sign back with the team?? Is it like reality, where you are under the teams control for 6 years??

So anyone still playing? I'm in the year 2014 with my pitcher. My first two full seasons went as follows:

13-8, 2.99 ERA, All Star Game Started, Bounced In Division Series Of Playoffs against Cubs, though I shut them out in my start.

15-10, 2.80 ERA, Missed All Star Game, Bounced in the NLCS against the Cubs.

This season is my breakout year. Im currently 14-4 with a 2.67 ERA, Played In the All Star game, however its looking like we will miss the playoffs.

There are so many variety and options to this game....been playing Franchise mode...and simply Pitching...letting CPU hit (advancing 1/2 inning) and its been a blast. Trying for the elusive no-hiter, then perfect game....settling for shutout type action. Been a blast.
