Nice article. Makes me wonder how soon some of these guys are going to start. Especially Odrick, given our depth at DE.

Since Starks is moving to NT I'd bet he'll start in week 1

I expect him to start eventually, but it sounds as if theres a great deal of learning with regards to technique and reading defenses that goes into the 3-4 thats different than a 4-3 set. Odrick certainly has the tools, but hell have to earn his spot. I could see Merling starting the year and Odrick rotating in until he has enough experience under his belt to grasp the mental aspect of the position.

I HOPE we're not going to play the basic two gap 3-4 we played last year, we dont have bulk for it IMO. Starks, Merling and Odrick are all better as one gap penetrators, Langford is a strong two gapper, Soliai is decent, but not a great fit for either. IMO you fit your scheme for the talent you have. If I'm the DC Im runnin a one gap 3-4 with lots of slants, stunts, and blitzes, relying on quickness/ penetration (see Arizona) rather than brute strength to stop the run. Its a riskier approach but in Bell we have a great tackling safety to clean up the occasional mess, and Culver doesnt miss many tackles either.
