Hello, first, I want to say I think we have a pretty nice offseason in exception of the JT story.....I would like to see us sign a long term contract with RB and davone Bess and all would be perfect. But IMO we need to sign a good TE to be a really playoff contender, and I look at the greg olsen in chicago situation. What do you think, could he be cut at june 1, and odes this guy could really help us iYO, else who could be cut at TE and be a solid signing IYO ? thanks
Fasano will be a surprise player this season IMO. If Marshall demands coverage, and he will, the middle of the field will be open.
A better TE would have been nice but I don't think it was that pressing of a need that we need to make a panic move. Our team is poised to make a strong run if our defense improves, Marshall adds touchdowns and Henne takes the next step. I don't think its vital that our TE's score a lot of points, would be nice but we are still a running, power team, if our Te's can block we are good to be in every game.
I'm not sure that signing RB to a long term deal is a great idea. Running backs have a limited shelf life and I think that RB injuries show that he's nearing the end of his. Draft a young stud and let the orca five clear the way...
I was hoping if we took a TE in the draft it would be Dennis Pitta. No luck. However, I agree that having Marshall will help ALL of our recievers including the TE's. I expect that Fasano will benefit greatly and put up a season more like 2008 rather than 2009. I think we will be fine with what we have. We still have a couple of young guys on the roster that are in development and may still work out. If they don't, there is always 2011 or 2012.
Don't forget Gronkowski, he's a favorite of mine since living in Tucson (however, back problems in College don't bode well). BTW-has anyone ever read a scout talk about how a TE prospect blocks well, but needs to work on catching the ball?
