NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that restricted free agent FS O.J. Atogwe will not sign his tender with the Rams, meaning he'll become an unrestricted free agent on June 1. The Rams still hold exclusive negotiating rights with Atogwe until that point, but it appears he won't budge and is poised to leave St. Louis. Though Atogwe is coming off reconstructive shoulder surgery and a reported sports hernia, he will have plenty of suitors on the open market. The Rams do intend to meet with Atogwe this month, perhaps to make a long-term offer.
still two more quality veterans may come available: Nick Collins is @ the end of a six year contract for GreenBay & Atogwe will not sign his tender. something has to & will be done or the season will fall short of desired outcomes. not much to fix a position away from a run on the BigEnchillada...
I thought he already signed it. I'll have to look it up though. UPDATE: I was wrong. He hasn't signed it yet. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...5/miami-dolphins-depth-chart-ota-edition.html
Nick Collins already signed 1year of tender 3.35 million plus 3y-$23.4 mil extension signed March of this year. deal runs through 2013 total contract of 4yrs- $26.75 million
Is this guy Atogwe really worth all this fuss ? I mean even the Rams gave him the lowest of low tenders available. He had shoulder surgery, had sports hernia surgery and was the best safety on the worst defense in the NFL. Does all of the prior constitute a large contract ? I for one are not really sure it does.
I personally dont think they will sign him, however if you look at his numbers, he is right up there with all the playmaking FS in the NFL, and being on the worst team is even more impressive......that being said IDK if he keeps it up, after the injuries...
Honestly, I haven't seen enough of him to know one way or the other. But, I, like you, am concerned about the injuries I keep hearing about. My guess is if he does in fact become an UFA, the FO will probably exercise their due diligence and make inquiries. But, I can't help but think at this point in time they've already come up with a game plan to fix the FS position in house. JMHO...
Read your first part of the post too fast and thought you were saying you liked me Scared me a little
It also means his stats could be padded by playing a weak schedule, and making plays that wouldn't normally get past players like Davis, Dansby, or Will Allen. I don't know how I feel about it one way or the other. But I don't think I'd roll up the bank truck to his doors, especially with the recent injury.
Well, I don't know you well enough to have formed an opinion one way or another mommabilly. But, you being a Phins fan is certainly a good start.
I hope that Ronnie signs his tender soon, you just know the Pats would snatch him up if he became a UFA.
Ronnie will not become a UFA if he doesn't sign his tender. We will maintain his rights and can actually lower our tender offer. Again he does NOT revert to UFA. Atogwe was signed to a different tender than Ronnie.
