Again...it will be a game of Poker.

We put out the 13 mil a year offer on Gay and hope the Grizz don't match. The talk is that they have been negotiating a extension for 2 years now and for 2 years they have not budged off of 10 mil. So WHY would they match now?

In case they threaten to match..we need Beasley to complete that deal. All the while hoping that Bosh or Amare don't instigate a S&T to get more money out of us.

Riley has the right idea of taking care of Wade and the MAX first and then having the 3rd wheel take care of itself.

and YES...Haslem fans (I am one of them) Udonis is going to have a long wait this offseason....the calculator is going to get a workout. Hometown discount better be in his vocabulary, or a one year and then rework it NEXT summer.

Arison is going to commit damn near 90 Million in New contracts for One year and around 300 Million over 6. Yikes!

What really helps is that we have a good idea on the bench for cheap if necessary. (Que, Wright, anthony, etc..)

Back to rooting for NJ to win the Lotto.

I'm not sure about Joe Johnson. As a fifth or sixth option, he might be good. If we land him out of the gate... why?

For Riley's Big Three Concept....it works.

The Third Wheel options, now are (guys that WANT to come here):

    1. Rudy Gay
    2. Joe Johnson
    3. John Salmons

it is a pretty good spot we are going to be in.

We are actually going to send an all-star on their way...some feelings will be hurt. LOL

In that scenario, Joe Johnson becomes the fifth or sixth free agent option.

    1. LeBron James
    2. Amare Stoudemire
    3. Chris Bosh
    4. Rudy Gay
    5. Carlos Boozer
    6. Joe Johnson

    I don't think we're in disagreement here.

    nope. we agree.

it is clear though that Riley will concentrate on bringing in the Max guy first..namely a Bosh or Amare.

Then worry about the third guy of which it is clear that Riley likes Rudy Gay the best. ( I do as well, even though Joe Johnson is the better player)

When can we start legitimately dreaming about LeBron? It seems to me that he is finding out that without another all-star caliber player, he is never going to win a championship in Cleveland. He'd have to do a ton of heavy lifting to get somebody else to move with him to NY or NJ, so it seems to me he has 3 options
    1. Stay in Cle and hope they get it right (and that he keeps his head on staright once the FA stuff is over)
    2. Go to Chi and try and elevate the most overrated supporting cast in NBA history to the finals or
    3. Come here and play with Wade.

I like Rudy Gay better because he is a Natural Small Forward.

JJ is better as a Shooting Guard, although he does have length (6'-8")

Gay is also younger and cheaper, but with much more athleticism. IMO, he is also a better defender.

The only thing Joe Johnson IMO does better is shoot the three.

I don't know about labeling options. It's simple to me. It all depends on the first free agent we land. If we land LeBron James, then obviously you look at a Boozer or Haywood assuming Bosh and Amare are out of our price range. If we land Bosh or Amare, then you look at Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay, and John Salmons perhaps.

Still think we're heading into free agency with TWO PLAYERS (Anthony & Chalmers) under contract, as well as the rights Dozier and Beverly. I am convinced that Pat Riley will be moving Beasley, Jones, and Cook for close to nothing in order to free up cap space for a THIRD MAX + more. He's going all out. Wade/Bosh/Joe Johnson is a real possibility at the moment, and might be even without creating more space.... Joe Johnson may of just sucked himself out of the max with his unclutch playoff performance for the second year in a row.

Just think... if we can SOMEHOW get LeBron to commit... we could be looking at Wade/LeBron/Bosh or Amare or Boozer.

I no longer think LeBron James is a "long shot" with the way things are going for him. He's got to see the opportunity to pair with Dwyane Wade and be coached by Pat Riley (as opposed to the worst coach in basketball - Mike Brown) as his only TRUE shot at winning a title if he fails to even get beyond the semi's with THIS TEAM.

As if Wade did not have enough on his plate....

he starts the trial over his restaurant venture next week...(he is being sued for 25 million)

he won the business side of that lawsuit a while ago...now the "damages" side gets kicked up.

BTW, the rumor on his divorce trial is that his wife actually wants HALF of what he earned in his last contract..which would be around 35 million.

Do you know the difference between an opinion and a fact? All your speculation is nothing more than opinion yet you preach it as fact.

That's big talk behind a monitor so "kudos" to you. Anyway, if I recall, you were salivating towards the Heat's win streak, soiling yourself proclaiming we were the best in the NBA in March as if meant something so who's the *** now?

How am I being negative? I just pointed out that your statement was a bit eccentric for what was actually written. So because I point out your immaturity which you have clearly displayed in numerous posts, I am now negative? I don't know what to believe more: whether Wade will stay or the fact that you are 36 years old.

Youth and clutch is the reason why I prefer Rudy Gay. He's got ice in his veins, can't say that much about Joe Johnson. However, the fact that he's restricted might lean more towards making an effort at Joe Johnson first. You attack Joe Johnson first if anything, and if that fails, then you go at Rudy Gay. We won't be in the position to tie $13+ million into a player for 7 days that we have no idea whether or not Memphis will match, unfortunately. I really like Rudy Gay... but Joe Johnson would make for the PERFECT compliment to Wade + Bosh/Amare/Booz.

In Joe Johnson's defense, though, he may fit the team better especially if we're unable to add a solid point guard. Like Wade, he can run the point damn good and really, he's effect at all perimeter positions. That versatility is key. Rudy Gay is a strict SF to me.

I can envision stretches of the game where we run with Wade, Johnson, Wright, Beasley, and Bosh. NO ONE can match up with that line up.

I check into this thread to see what Sect is selling, and I cannot believe my eyes, Rudy Gay?

I know I'm not dreaming, I know Sect is rational, so how did Rudy Gay..:chuckle: enter into the discussion?

Dude, Memphis.. has never made the playoffs while in Memphis, in a league were one very good player can lead a team to the playoffs..Gay never did..

Riley needs to find some ballers Sect, Rudy Gay isn't one, he is an accumulator, ditto Carlos Boozer, JJ is a decent role player, imho not a max guy, heck I'm not 100% on Chris Bosch either, play in Toronto..no one cares, come to Miami...everyone cares..huge difference.

Memphis has made the playoffs while in Memphis. They even won 50 games one year. They were pretty good this year till injuries unraveled that team.

Rudy Gay is a helluva player Padre...and he is 24 years old. As for Boozer...the guy has had 25 point 22 rebound games in the playoffs......versus the Lakers. Boozer is a clutch player. Although I want Bosh or Amare instead.

BTW Padre...Kobe Bryant has missed the playoffs. So has lebron. Good players miss the playoffs all the time.

But yes...if we sign Rudy Gay as the third wheel...we should kiss the ground.

He is not a chucker. hardly a "accumulator"

That's not a fair assessment of Rudy Gay at all, especially when we're not viewing him as THE "co-star" franchise player v2. Rudy Gay would be the third wheel complimentary player to Wade + hopefully Bosh or Amare. And he'd be one of the best third wheel players in basketball. You're speaking on his accomplishments or lack thereof as a #1 option, whereas he'd be #3 here. Same goes for Joe Johnson or John Salmons, per say.

$10-13 million per year is where I'd start and end with Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. I'd figure John Salmons into the $8-10 million per range. Age is a factor with him, though it seems he's gotten better with age. Joe Johnson may have underperformed himself to an even smaller price range.

If we're setting up for 3 max; it has to be Wade + LeBron/Bosh/Amare. Two of those players.

Otherwise I'd split the remainder of the loot, or even save some (by adding guys with one year deals) to make a play at Melo next year.

I really wish Melo signed the same deal as Wade, LeBron, and Bosh. He's the definition of a superstar who ONLY cares about winning. He'd definitely be on board with the plan.

    Not with Rudy Gay there.

What?!?! Boozer could not go inside this past series the Lakers length was just taking that away from him, dude is straight up good in the season, the Ghost in the playoffs against good teams.

Well, my .02..he is not what the Heat need...at all..47% from the field and the biggest shot he ever made in the NBA was...well never.

To me, I'd like to see the Heat land:

Amare S, Ray Allen, Dev Harris and run a rotation at Center.

That would give us a viable PG, scorer in the paint, and outside shooter, even if he is 350yrs old, to me what sank the Heat was a lack of viable scoring options both inside and outside, keep Q Richardson to spot in for Allen.

Figure Haslem wipes the boards, Amare can matchup on big men, Harris is a top notch PG, and they are all young, proven Veterans who actually have made big shots and played in playoff games..

    Imho fellas.

You are gonna have to watch a little more basketball padre. Especially with those Boozer comments. In a league with so many cowards...Boozer makes the all clutch team.

    In fact...ALL CLUTCH NBA:

    PG: Rajon Rondo
    SG: Dwyane Wade
    SF: Paul Pierce
    PF: Carlos Boozer
C: Tim Duncan/Amare Stoudemire (Yeah..I know Duncan plays PF...)

if you want a shooter...then you want Joe Johnson. Ray Allen is going to want the same money and he has a couple years left and he can;t matchup defensively against a ton of SF's int eh East (Pierce, Wallace, Joe Johnson, Deng, etc..). I would rather setup a big three for a 6 year run till the end of Wade's career.

Devin Harris is only available if New jersey wins the lotto (they take John Wall).......don;t you read this thread? LOL!
