Considering that he's batting .236/.294/.373/.667 (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS) this year and has been benched for lack of hustle, I don't think he's going to be up anytime soon. But you make a good point if he was hitting like he's capable of I'm sure he would have gotten the call up.

Yeah he hasn't had a good year so far but if you want to look at some positives he's still only 20 years old and in Triple A, so he's extremely young for the league. It's probably just a small sample size and just a bad month and a half. I wouldn't be too worried (nor do I think the Yankees are either), he's just going to have to spend more time working on things.

Hughes was off giving up the long ball but happy to see them battle back...this was a game following the Twins comeback that they could have caved on.....glad to see the heart tonight...wish Hughes would have closed the door when he had the lead.

Yanks taketh, and Yanks giveth away....ends up as a split of baby series vs Sox as Joba needs to get his stuff together, Defense lets Mo down. Oh well....tomorrow is another day.

For which part? Having 13 pitchers on the roster (he sent Golson down for Melanson earlier in the day) when 2 of his position players (Swisher and Posada) aren't able to play leaving his bench thin and thus having to have someone like Thames in the OF late in the game? Or him having Cervelli bunt Cano to 3rd? Girardi sure had a rough night managing last night.

All of the above bro....his is good with pitcher management, but not very good in all other facets of managing...They need to get healty...surprised they are playing this well with all of the injuries...

TB b-slapped around the bullpen (what's up with Park???)....taking the baby sweep is a blip, but bullpen wows, and injury nicks and bruises are starting to have an effect.

Yanks need to bounce back vs. NYM this weekend and snap back to reality.

Nice little bounce back W to start the series vs NYM (but injury bug still biting and catches Vazquez this time) especially when combined with TB and BOS losses.

What an ugly close to an ugly week......dropping 5 of the 7 games is bad. Lack of clutch hitting, and now pitching is erratic with location from starters to pen. Injuries playing huge part with bad late game defense, and no bench.

Hope they turn the page and put this week behind them, facts are facts as they now trailing TB by 6 games.

    Ugly, Ugly, Ugly......

Jeter homers to win the susp game, and Swisher homers to win the night cap. Feels like a doubleheader sweep....series sweep could happen tomorrow, then finish the week with CLE.

TB getting swept vs. Saux so things are tightening.

Yanks have been kind of boring lately (outside of the blow up of the pen on Sat) they just keep plugging along beating the teams they should, and getting healthier as the days tick by (Jeter's tight hammy aside). Pettitte kicked off the week nicely, and Arod made it a grand win.

Big bounce back win vs Tor after dropping two. If we can stay healthy and get the bats clicking again the next couple of weeks could racking up W's.

The Mariners are scouting the Yankees: Cliff Lee trade, anyone?

Wed Jun 09,2010 1:12 PM ET
    By Craig Calcaterra

George A. King of the New York Post reports that the Mariners are kinda sorta thinking about trading Cliff Lee to the Yankees. The "kinda sorta" is because there's no sense that the Yankees are at all interested in Lee.

According to King, however, the Mariners are currently scouting the Yankees organization and are interested in shortstop Eduardo Nunez and either prospect catcher Austin Romine or Jesus Montero, no doubt on the assumption that the Yankees will get interested once the M's start dangling Lee.
Makes sense for the Mariners to at least be prepared in the event the Yankees realize that they can get one of the best pitchers in baseball to help them fight the Rays for the division and, assuming a long-term deal gets done, help anchor the rotation for the next several years.

Given his reasonable price tag, of course, there may be a lot of teams interested in renting Lee for the playoff stretch. The M's would be wise, however, to try and find a partner who could negotiate with Lee on a long term deal, thus bringing back some real value in exchange for their failed experiment at contending.

    --------------------------------------------
    hmmmmm, dont think it happens!

    Not for me.....reasons....

1)There is only one team I care about if they get him, the Sox, and they arent....they need bats....

    2) We can just wait until FA to buy him...

    3) Too much to give up, Romine or Monterio is Posadas replacement, and you know how hard it is to come by good catchers these days...

    4) Cliff Lee said he wants to test FA, unless the Yankees/ or said team blow him away, after the trade, he isnt signing the extension contract

that being said I would LOVE to get him next year......can u imagine

    1) CC
    2) AJ
    3) Pet/Lee
    4) Hughes
    5) Lee/Vazquez/somebody else

thats filth......especially if it was CC, AJ, Pet, Hughes, and Lee wow!!

You do realize that the Red Sox are in the top 3 in almost every hitting stat (most of them they're either 1 or 2) in all of baseball so far this year right? Statistically they're even better than the Yankees so far this year. And that's without a health 2/3 of the OF being healthy all year and terrible slumps by Ortiz & Martinez in April. The bats aren't the problem, it was the starting pitching earlier this year. It's no shock that once the starters got hot, the team finally started to win some games.

With that being said I think the only moves you'll see the Red Sox doing is adding a bullpen arm here or there. They're not going to go after a hitter (unless Ellsbury and/or Cameron show they won't be healthy for the rest of the year) or a starter (again unless Beckett won't be back).

I'd be surprised if the Yankees went after Lee, for reasons you named, mainly them not wanting to give up any prospects when they can sign him in the off season. I actually think the Yankees are going to be the ones adding a bat by July 31st.

Agreed Yanks need a bat.....the Sox are going to try to add one as well....they will kick the tires on Gonzo again....the Sox dont have anybody that scare you thats the problem....their pitching the first month and a half was a facade, they have the best rotation in the game....Beltre batting 340 or whatever wont do that in the playoffs and the FO knows it...the Sox are getting ALOT of contribution from guys that arent seeing the field in the playoffs, McDoanald, Hermedia etc...

Great win and great game to be at! CC was DOMINATE in the first few innings. I felt like he got shaken up with getting hit by the ball but he got out of it and got back in a groove. He had 8 or more strikes outs...Can't wait to get arod back in the lineup though.

looks like i went to the right game. Joba is terrible. God awful... Andy Pitched good today too. Shame he had to get the lose but that bats did not come through today, other than Cano and Arod. BTW Cano is on his way to win his first MVP if he keeps this up. Best player in baseball right now.

Reason the Yankees are doing so well this year is starting pitching. CC, vazquez has been pitching GREAT lately. I know a lot of Yankees fans hate him but he's pitching very well. Should of never gotten that L against the mets. Andy is having a he'll of a season this year. 8-2 wow. And Phil Hughes is just nasty. 10-1. Aj is worrying me to be honest. He needs to pitch better. But Yankees starters are 37-17. Almost a 70%. there bullpen on the other hand...well that's a different story
